1 Crossroads of America Council Crossroads of America Council 1900 North Meridian Street Indianapolis, IN Camp & Recreation The Crossroads of America Council is very proud of its facilities. With more than 2,000 acres and 100 buildings, we are one of the largest providers of outdoor adventure in the state of Indiana. All Scout units are welcome to use the facilities described in the following pages. Corporate, social and not-for-profit organizations are also welcome to use our many quality facilities and experience some of the most scenic locations in Indiana. Contact one of the Council Service Centers for reservation information, facility usage fees and availability of sites. Belzer Scout Camp During the summer, this camp serves as the flagship Cub Scout Day Camp, and has three swimming pools and eight program shelters. This camp is ideal for large group events and primitive camping with plenty of parking and restrooms available. The new Center for Volunteer Training, located in the center of camp, is a showcase for the Council s emphasis on the importance of trained volunteers. The camp, which opened in 1918 as Camp Chank-tun-un-gi, Belzer Scout Reservation has a rich history. It was re-named for the first Indianapolis Scout Executive, Francis O. Belzer, who started serving in Ransburg Scout Reservation With 624 acres surrounded by the Hoosier National Forest and Lake Monroe, Ransburg Scout Reservation is one of the Midwest s premier camps. A 15-minute drive from Bloomington, IN, or 30 minutes from Nashville, TN, the camp offers a wide range of opportunities in a beautiful, hilly, hardwood forest setting in one of the most beautiful areas of Indiana. Parking and primitive camping is available for up to 1,000 people. The Inlow Aquatic Center provides an outstanding conference facility. Kikthawenund Scout Camp During the summer, Webelos Scouts and their parents fill Webelos Adventure Camp, a four-day, three-night, resident camp experience for 9- and 10-year-old boys. During the rest of the year, the 230-acre camp, located 20 minutes north of Noblesville, IN, is available for many other uses. Fun program sites such as Fort Miami, Dan Beard Tree House, Western Town shelters, Indian Village and the Lake Cherokee Riverboat shelter give the camp a special charm. Ten primitive campsites and heated central restrooms are available for use during the school year. Pipe Creek, a White River tributary, runs through the camp.
2 Crossroads of America Council Camp & Recreation Camp Red Wing Located on the southeast side of Muncie on the White River, Camp Red Wing has been serving scouts since White Stag, a Scout Youth Leadership Training program, holds its programs at Camp Red Wing. The Kiwanis Lodge is the showpiece facility for the camp. It is a multi-purpose building that seats 150 people and is available for year-round use. Camp Bear Creek Outdoor adventure is the key to fun at Camp Bear Creek. Located 20 miles south of Connersville, IN, this 350-acre property has beautiful forests, rolling hills and streams. The dining hall accomodates 150 people and is available year-round. Four heated cabins are also available for use. Bear Creek is an outstanding camp for small and large groups. Camp Krietenstein An easy one-hour drive from downtown Indianapolis west on I-70, Camp Krietenstein has a rich history and excellent camping opportunities. It has been the base camp for the Terre Haute area communities, and has served as a Boy Scout Summer Camp for the Wabash Valley Council. The five-acre lake and all of the program facilities are conveniently located in the center of camp. Camp Wildwood On the east side of Terre Haute, the new year-round meeting hall makes this camp ideal for gatherings of people. Plenty of parking and easy accessibility to I-70 make this location very convenient. Two other cabins are available for yearround use, as are several program shelters. Primitive camping is also available with modern restroom and shower facilities. 3 Crossroads of America Council Crossroads of America Council 1900 North Meridian Street Indianapolis, IN Camp & Recreation Belzer Scout Camp Located on the northeast side of Indianapolis, Belzer is easily accessible from I-465 and is adjacent to Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park. During the summer, this camp serves as the flagship Cub Scout Day Camp, and has three swimming pools and eight program shelters. There are five year-round cabin facilities with bunks, which can accommodate up to 24 people each. This camp is ideal for large group events and primitive camping with plenty of parking and restrooms available. The camp is fully wheelchair accessible, with newly added paved trails. The new Center for Volunteer Training, located in the center of camp, is a showcase for the Council s emphasis on the importance of trained volunteers. The center has a large dividable room, which accommodates groups up to 250, a full kitchen and four breakout rooms. The camp, which opened in 1918 as Camp Chank-tun-un-gi, Belzer Scout Reservation has a rich history. It was re-named for the first Indianapolis Scout Executive, Francis O. Parking and primitive camping are available for up to 1,000 people.
