3 3 Winter Camp 2013 Camp Karankawa South Texas Council - BSA Park Road 25 Mathis, Texas mi from UBC, 3 hours 42 mins. away DATE: December 26-31, 2013 The South Texas Council operates Boy Scout Winter Camp at Camp Karankawa. Camp Karankawa is a nationally accredited facility located along Lake Corpus Christi near Mathis, TX. Winter programs, particularly Merit Badge instruction, are facilitated by field professionals and unit leaders. Winter activities include a COPE course (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience), living history, the polar bear plunge, and more.

4 4 Fall/Winter Camp 2013 Camp Edgewood Calcasieu Area Council - BSA 304 Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive Lake Charles, LA mi. from UBC, 2 hours 12 mins away DATE: 2013 Camp Edgewood is a 283 acre camp located in southern Beauregard Parish of Louisiana. The camp is positioned between the towns of DeQuincy and Ragley, and is only 30 minutes from downtown Lake Charles. The camp features 14 campsites, multiple program areas, a shooting sports area with archery, rifle, and shotgun range with high and low skeet houses. The camp Dining Hall seats 250 people and features a newly renovated, state of the art commercial kitchen. Camp Edgewood is home to Lake Edgewood, a stocked 16 acre lake that offers canoeing and swimming along with multiple fishing docks.

5 5 Winter Camp 2013 Camp Strake Sam Houston Area Council BSA IH 45 South Conroe, TX mi from UBC, 1 hour 8 mins away DATE: December 26-31, 2013 A tentative WC Merit Badge List will be available on our Council Web Site by September 1, Grand Lake is the Boy Scout camping and activity area of Camp Strake. The 21 campsites that are divided into three separate wings. Beautiful piney woods for many hiking trails. The Shooting Sports Range can accommodate Rifle and Shotgun Shooting as well as Archery. Deer Lake to practice Canoeing in one of the most scenic areas of the camp. You may prefer to just relax under the Joplin Pavilion next to the lake and take in the beauty of it all. We also have a COPE Course!
