7 Camp Fees (see page 5 for details): $260, early sign up required with deposit for scouts registered Jan. 1, 2015 $100 deposit /scout due Feb 27, 2015, Non-refundable, Transferrable $160 Remaining registration fee/scout is due Apr 15 (Merit Badge Sign-up date) (late payment fee $5 / week, NTE $275) $275 Non deposit registration after March 1 st, for scouts registered Jan. 1, 2015 $300 Late registration after May 8 th, for scouts registered Jan. 1, 2015 For Scouts registered after Jan. 1, 2015 and Webelos transfers, $260 Second week of camp, $200, except Iowa High Adventure, $225 2 adults for up to 16 registered youth are included in youth registrations; for each additional 8 Scouts, one more leader included; e.g. 24+ Boys=3; 32+ Boys=4 leaders each additional leader: $20/day or $100 /week (without 8 additional Scouts) Campsite reservation fee: $85 Excellent Value: Other camps are much higher $$ ($400+) and have limited programs for advancement 7
8 Camperships are available For boys registered Jan. 1, 2015: Applications due Feb 27 th, with $100 deposit (includes Scouts/units 1/3) For boys that transfer or register after Jan. 1, 2015: Applications due with registration, $170 deposit (the Scouts 1/3 and Units 1/3), May 1, 2015 Deadline Campership form on council web site: 1/3 Boy, 1/3 Unit, 1/3 Council Please contact the Camping Committee Chair/Camp Director for any extenuating circumstances or questions. The goal is to get every scout who desires to go to camp the opportunity to fulfill their dream. 8
9 Campership Application for Hawkeye Area Council Summer Program The goal of the Hawkeye Area Council, BSA is for every Scout to be able to participate in a summer program experience. The Council Camping Committees have developed a Campership Program designed to help Scouts in need of financial assistance attend a council summer program. A limited amount of funds are available to assist Scouts who cannot otherwise afford to attend a summer Scouting activity. Yes No Has the unit committee helped this Scout find ways to earn money for his camp fee? Yes No List money earning projects below or explain why no opportunities were presented. Yes No Camperships are subjected to the following conditions: The Scout and their family pays as much as possible, minimum one third (1/3) of the program fee. o The unit provides money-earning opportunities (popcorn sales, community fund raisers, etc.) for Scouts to earn funds to pay their own way to camp, participation is required. The unit or chartered partner organization pays as much as possible. The Campership Application should only be for the balance needed after the above resources are exhausted. o The maximum campership awarded will be for up to one third (1/3) of the program fee. The Scout is contributing $ towards the program fee. The Unit is contributing $ towards the program fee. The Charted Organization is contributing $ towards the program fee. The unit leader and the committee recommend that this Scout be provided a $ Reasons: campership May 1 is the deadline for all campership applications. Applications must be filled out completely. Side one completed by the parent/guardian. Side two completed by the unit leader and unit committee. Each Scout applying for a campership needs a completed application. 10 Changes Eagle Quest Develops Tenderfoot, 2 nd Class and 1 st Class skills for first time at Boy Scout summer camp while providing activities in most areas of camp is being changed to a half day program to allow boys to work on merit badges in the mornings for more advancement. 10
11 for older Scouts and Scouters STEM Mentoring age 13+ Engines and Crunches Start your Engines! July ($140) This program will explorer how your life is affected by technology every day. Make a model Vehicle! Designed to Crunch! July ($120) This program will help you explore how math affects you every day. Stats on Sports!! 11
12 for older Scouts and Scouters COPE Experience the next level July 23-25, ($140), age 14+ Spend three days and two nights working with fellow campers to accomplish the tasks of the Howard H. Cherry Scout Reservation, Aegon Challenge Course. Develop plans for the Tire traverse, the Giant s finger, the whale watch and 15 more unique and challenging low course events. Then help your team with the Burma Bridge, Balance Beam, Two Wire Travers, Cargo Net, Centipede, Giant s Ladder Confidence Pole and our 300 zip line. Climbing, skill improvement July 19-21, ($140), age 14+ Three days and two nights developing climbing skills. Learn bouldering techniques, lead climbing and improve climbing techniques. Spend time on rock surfaces. 12
13 for older Scouts and Scouters Mountain Bike, trail techniques June 28-30, ($140), age 13+ Fulfill some of the requirements for cycling merit badge. Learn how to negotiate trail obstacles. Marksmanship July 26-28, ($160), age 13+ For those that have earned Rifle or Shotgun merit badge. Learn to sight a rifle, improve accuracy, score competition targets. Three days and two nights of improving your abilities and safety with firearms. 13
14 for older Scouts and Scouters Ultimate Iowa High Adventure July 27-31, ($225), age 14+ Five days and four night on an Iowa High Adventure, canoeing merit badge required. Test your skills and abilities, Canoe 20 miles of the Cedar River, hike the 20 mile Hoover Trail, canoe 16 more miles of the Cedar River. Work on a conservation project to complete the Fifty Miler Afoot Afloat Award. 14
