This is a potluck dinner and we ask that you bring a dish to share if you are able to. This has been a great opportunity in the past to share your favorite traditional foods! The dinner is open to the community and will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 5:30pm in the Kenai Middle School Commons. Also on Saturday night we are having a special evening of entertainment with a concert featuring the Alaska Native group PAMYUA with a special guest speaker Courtney Agnes. Courtney is from the village of Tanana and is a star on the Discovery Channel s reality show called Yukon Men. This is a fundraising event for the Kenaitze Indian Tribe s Yaghanen Youth Programs and will be held at 7:30pm in the Kenai High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for all ages, general admission. 5 Member Insert Social Media News Facebook Adds Call-To-Action Buttons For Business Pages Pages will soon be able to display seven CTAs -- Book Now, Contact Us, Use App, Play Game, Shop Now, Sign Up and Watch Video -- that link on or off Facebook. One of Facebook s answers to marketers laments about plunging organic reach is to encourage them to think of Facebook Pages as a destination a cornerstone of their online identity rather than merely a publishing platform. To emphasize the point Facebook noted last month that nearly a billion people visited Facebook Pages in October. And today, Facebook announced a new option for Pages to display to those visitors the ability to add call-to-action buttons to the top of Pages. The buttons Book Now, Contact Us, Use App, Play Game, Shop Now, Sign Up, Watch Video can link to any destination on or off Facebook. Dollar Shave Club tested a Sign Up button and was pleased with the results, Brian Kim, the company s director of acquisition, said in the Facebook blog post announcing the new feature. Over the course of a three-week test, Kim said, the Sign Up call-to-action button delivered a 2.5x higher conversion rate versus other comparable social placements aimed to drive new user acquisition. 6 Member Insert Checking Less Lowers Stress If you want to relieve some of your daily anxiety, try checking your less often, new research suggests. Not checking your every time a new message is delivered can help reduce psychological stress, according to a University of British Columbia (UBC) study. For the study, researchers instructed participants to limit checking to three times daily for a week. The following week, participants were allowed to check their an unlimited number of times each day. The two-week study involved 124 participants who worked in a range of industries, including health care, academia, finance, administration and information technology, as well as graduate and undergraduate students. The study s authors found that that during the week of limited use, participants experienced significantly lower daily stress than during the week of unlimited use. Turning a blind eye to the inbox for most of the day could be a difficult task, however. Most participants in our study found it quite difficult to check their only a few times a day, Kushlev said. This is what makes our obvious-in-hindsight findings so striking: People find it difficult to resist the temptation of checking , and yet resisting this temptation reduces their stress. In an effort to cut down on the stress levels of their employees, businesses should encourage employees to check their in chunks, rather than constantly responding to messages, Kushlev said. The study, published online in the Computers in Human Behavior journal, was co-authored by Elizabeth Dunn, a UBC associate professor.
