August Parade August 7, Wilber - Leave from Hiway 77 & Saltillo Rd at 10am. Parade starts at 2 pm. Sunshine Lou Vajgrt is now at home. Mike Tritsch is now getting around using a cane. Nick Heetderks has received his bone marrow transplant and has been dismissed from the hospital. They will stay in Omaha for a couple of months. DMV Forms Don Arp, from the DMV who spoke at the May meeting, gave Ray Hogrefe copies of the forms he had at the meeting. Members needing any of the forms should contact Ray. Breakfast at Hy-Vee Don t forget about the first Tuesday of the month breakfast at the Hy-Vee, 70th & Pioneers Blvd. Arrive around 9 am. DINNER TOURS The August 25th tour will be to Valentino s, 2701 S. 70 St. Meet at 5 pm. In September we will dine at Honey Creek in Waverly. This tool was found in an old farm shed. 3 July 16, 2016 Cornhusker Model A Club Meeting Minutes The Cornhusker Model A Ford Club (CMAFC) was called to order by President Bill Buckley at Fourth Presbyterian Church. Roll call - 25 members were in attendance. No guests were in attendance. Best wishes were extended to those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. Minutes: A motions was made by Helen Sougey and seconded by Donna Best for the acceptance of the March meeting minutes as published in the newsletter. Motion carried. Treasurer s Report: Bill read the treasurer s report as submitted by Jenn Heetderks reported: Checking Account June beginning balance: $6, Checking Account June ending balance: $6, Savings Account June beginning balance: $3, Savings Account June ending balance: $3, (*interest quarterly) Interest $.44 Bills were submitted by Margaret Mays $29.13 newsletter 3 months, Jerry Waechter $11.05 meeting supplies and Nancy Henshaw $49.25 for ice cream & additional supplies. Deposits were submitted by Dave Allder $50 from Drake family with thank you to club members that drove vehicles in their daughter s wedding and Bill Buckley $150 from the Legacy for showing cars. Judi Cook moved the report be accepted and that the bills be paid, seconded by Linda Buckley. Motion carried. Committee Reports Calling Committee: Laverne Johnston reported no cards were sent. Bill Buckley shared an update on Nick Heetderks that was provided by Jenn. For more updates on the Heetderk s journey connect to the CaringBridge website site details will be shared. Lumir Vajgrt is now home. Charlie Cummings shared that Norma was hospitalized for pneumonia, but is now home recovering. Membership Committee: Dave Allder reported membership was steady. Dinner Tours: Darryl Best shared the dinner group will meet July 28 th 5pm at Las Margaritas on S. 27 th. Informal Breakfast Gathering: Reminder 1 st Tuesday of the Month at 9am HyVee at 70 th & Pioneers. Attendance has been good. History: Janet Beauvais reported that we are still making it Activities: Nancy Henshaw shared that with the ice cream served there will be ice cream trivia and also team trivia with prizes! She asked for hostess volunteers for August. Judi Cook, Valda Davidson and Nancy Allder volunteered. Tours & Events: Dick Waechter reported there are lots of upcoming shows. Next Saturday Ashland. Loren Davidson shared Syracuse too August 7 Wilbur and August 14 at the Fort refer to the newsletter list for details. Gayle Henshaw reported the MW Ford Show was well attended with the A s having the biggest class with 12 cars. Apple Jack show at the Arbor lodge has moved to Sunday Sept 18 th to avoid Saturday NU football schedule conflict. Bill Buckley reported the 2017 Regional Show will be June 5-9 details will follow as it gets closer. Joslyn show is July 24 th Henshaw s car will be there. Margaret shared August Amana Colonies will have new activities added. Nancy Henshaw shared the Homestead Days experience with the Alaska Frontier Family was authentic. Family members were in attendance Ivan got to drive their car & it was a highlight. Newsletter: Margaret May requested all submissions for newsletter be to her by 25 th of the month. Advertising: Loren Davidson no new advertisers until November. Christmas Party: Bill & Linda Buckley shared the entertainment will 3 be a Lincoln Continentals Quartet and reminded all it is the first Saturday of December. Financials with be decided by the board in the Aug/Sep timeframe. Old Business: Homestead Days - Nancy Henshaw shared the Homestead Days experience with the Alaska Frontier Family was authentic. Family members were in attendance Ivan got to drive their car & it was a highlight. Restorer Article Dick Waechter s cousin is featured in a route 66 article.he drover4,000miles. Ray Hogrefe Has sample forms for buying/selling antique cars. He plans to share at next meeting. Contact him if you need one in the meanwhile. Changing Meeting Schedule Group discussion continued on possibility of moving meeting to first Saturday of each month. Pro s, Con s and comments were shared. Bill Buckley reported that the current bylaws allow us to change schedule. Noted that biggest boost to meeting attendance this year may connected to having guest presenters that are announced ahead of time. Options were discussed on ways to proceed. Decided moving forward could be via motion with plan to vote at November meeting. Darryl Best moved to amend the schedule to first Saturday of each month and seconded by Donna Best. Motion carried. Vote to be at November meeting. New Business: Club Website Is getting attention.. Bill Buckley, Gayle Henshaw and the Cooks report being contacted by folks that obtained information off the website. Margaret Mays shared she also sends the newsletter to other clubs. Great news all around! Buying/Selling - Joan Taylor has contact information if anyone is interested in purchasing 29 Roadster. Let to group discussion, can we buy/sell on website? General support. For now the process is for club member to contact Janet Beauvis or Margaret Mays with information. They will get in touch with our web assistant to post. This gives the club a representative to review before any posting. Willing to Drive Newlyweds Joan Taylor asked if anyone would be interested in driving newlyweds from church to reception in Lincoln on August 13th. Let her know if you are interested. Shared Drawing: The $17 was shared between the club and the drawing winner Dave Allder. Judi Cook made the motion for meeting to adjourn, seconded by Jim Cook. 4 MAFFI Newsletter Minute Model A-ers everywhere. Time is running out to make your plans for Model A Day, September 16, 17, Check out maffi.org for hotel information but do it quickly as rooms are filling up. There are several new self guided tours for Friday taking you to the Galesburg Antique Mall, the Kalamazoo Valley Auto Heritage Tour, the Air Museum, the Kalamazoo Museum and various Winery and Craft Brewery tours. On Friday evening at the host hotel, the seminar will be a video presentation on the Around the World Model A trip that four Model A's made in 1982 and one of the vehicles that completed that trip will be on display at the museum. There will be an all Model A swap meet. Alex Janke (Water Pumps), Trudy Vestal (Fashions) and Jordon Beller (AA Trucks) will be presenting seminars on Saturday. This is the 50th Anniversary of the Gilmore Car Museum so there will be lots of new exhibits throughout the museum campus and perhaps a seminar on the Gilmore's history. We hope you will be able to join us for a great weekend of Model A fun. If you are a MAFFI member, admission is free, but you MUST have your membership card with you. The MAFFI trustees appreciate your support of the Model A Museum at the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI. July 9th - All Ford Show at Anderson Ford There was a good turnout for this years All Ford Show. Showing Ford products were Dick Waechter, Jim Cook, Bob & Judy Callaway, Margaret Mays, Jeff Thomas, Gary Horn, Harv Jecha, Dave Allder, Gayle Hanshaw and Ken Kovar. Receiving trophies were Bob & Judy Callaway, Jeff Thomas, Gary Horn, Dave Allder, Gayle Hanshaw, and Ken Kovar. Congratulations. FOR SALE FORD MODEL A ROADSTER Previously restored and owned by Willard Hanson who was a member of the Cornhusker Model A Club. It has always been winterized & kept shedded. It is in excellent condition and comes with side curtains and a cover. For more information, contact Willards daughter. Mick & Linda Stoehr, Box 129 Sutton, NE / All offers will be entertained. 4 July 23 - Legacy Terrace Family Picnic Attending the family picnic were Laverne & Harry Johnston, Jeff Meier, Jim Cook, Dale Kirkland, Donna & Darrell Best, Dean & Margaret Mays, and Helen & Leo Sougey.
5 July 4th in Seward The cool weather brought out a record 207 entries for the car show. Showing their A s were the Buckley s, the Callaway s, the Johnston s, the Waechter s, Dale Kirkland, the Manske s, the Mays s, Jeff Thomas, Dave Allder and Gary Horn. Bill & Linda received first place in the Model A division and Bob & Judy received second. Dale was honored with the Army service award. Joining the group after the car show for the parade were Gayle & Nancy Hanshaw and Loren & Valda Davidson. 5
