I think it's safe to say I will always feel especially grateful to live in this area each Spring! I will concede that Fall and Winter each have special qualities but I live for Summer! This Gazette is full of information on all the great events coming soon at the Center. Music, pool, picnics, pig roast, BBQ, camps, swim lessons.please check out the action and mark your calendars so you don't miss any of the fun : ) The Board members have been meeting over these past months looking at different needs of Center. We are looking at how to best keep our operation costs manageable and how to keep the Fair growing! To that end, we are going to increase our use of our website and listserve for improving communication. There will be fewer published and mailed Gazettes balanced with more eco-friendly postcard reminders. If you are not on the listserve, please join us - it's a great way to get timely updates and notifications. We are also VERY fortunate to be the recipient of grant support again this year from the Town of Dryden. Thanks to this awesome support, we will continue work on the grounds, build a new handicap ramp into the building and offer more great family friendly programing like hula hooping, treasure hunts, and more! Thanks! In addition, the Town of Dryden Department of Recreation is supporting the Music in the Hollow again this year. IF you have been to a Tuesday night MITH, you know how wonderful the nights are! If you have not attended, come! The price is right (free!), the people are wonderful (us!), and the music is just right! Look for the list of nights and bands and join the great outdoors picnic with friends : ) AND! We are going to be looking to share the fun at the grill - contact me to take a night of fun. All the supplies will be provided - we need your energy and grill skills to manage the sales! Super Short FAIR Update: We survived the year of the stormy Fair, hoping this year is all sun! Booth Chairs are already on the hunt for new faces and great volunteers. Find me and I will find you a spot! If you have ideas and energy, we need you! And we are looking for a Publicity Chair! Finally, it's that time of year again for the Annual Meeting. Saturday, June 15 th combined with our famous BBQ and opening MITH band, it's a great way to spend a Saturday! Please place your chicken orders, pull out your picnic blankets and bring your favorite dish to pass. We will have a Center update (brief), vote on new board members, and announce the Dodie Harris Award. Looking forward to seeing you all at the EHCC soon! Christine Becraft 1

Come early to the Community Center to mingle and chat with neighbors. The chickens and dish to pass starts at 5:00 pm - don t be late as dish-to-pass foods go fast! After dinner stay for Music in the Hollow. This year s free concert series kicks off with The Jeff Love Band at 6pm. ALL ARE WELCOME! Please invite a newcomer to the barbecue or extend an invitation to someone who hasn t gone recently. The annual meeting of the Ellis Hollow Community Center will be held during picnic. It s a great event. Help us keep the spirit of Ellis Hollow alive! The menu consist of barbecued chicken (must be pre-ordered, see order form below) and a variety of dish-to-pass items provided by you, the community; please bring a generous size/amount to share. Beverages can also be ordered in advance. Each family should bring a dish-to-pass, PLUS, plates, cups, silverware, napkins, blanket or folding chairs, and whatever else you need to make yourself comfortable. Please plan to take home your own garbage. In case of rain: chicken may be picked up at the community center starting at 5pm. There will be limited covered seating and you may still bring your dish-to-pass and eat with those hearty souls who wish to brave the elements. Help is needed for this event. 5 ELLIS HOLLOW POOL 2013 The Ellis Hollow Pool is located at 111 Genung Rd, Ithaca behind the Ellis Hollow Community Center. The community center is a non-profit organization. The center is supported in part by the Dryden Rec. Department. 6 Happy Kid Camp for Ages 3-7 We ll be, creating, exploring and experimenting. We ll go on adventures and discover our world. News From Boy Scout Troop 55-- In January, our Scouts again took part in a District-wide Winter Camping Skills Competition! -- The Competition is called The Klondike, and is held at Camp Barton in January of every year. There, the boys work in teams (without adult help) at scouting skills stations. Scouting Skills included fire building, first aid, lashing, out door cooking, compass and maps, and team work. Troop 55 again had the highest score for co-operation, ability, and scout spirit. This is the THIRD YEAR in a row that our scouts have won! Congratulations Scouts! We are proud of how well you boys work together! In late February, we headed up for a week-end at Highland Forest Park. We cabin camped and had a great time cross country skiing, sledding down a huge sledding hill and building snow forts and snow caves. The boys started the fires in the wood stoves and kept them going all day and through the night. They made meals and cleaned up after themselves, and had a good time playing cards in the evening. Troop 55 meets at the Ellis Hollow Community Center on Tuesdays from 7-8:30. The boys work together, learn a lot, make friends and have a great time!
