1 April 9, 2016 Dear Parishioners, This winter was kind to us, and hopefully for the first time in a long time, we may be looking forward to a warmer than usual spring! And that means it s Festirama time at St. Joe s! Please mark your calendars for this annual event on May 20, 21, and 22. Thirty-six years ago when Bishop James Hoffman was our pastor, he began this event primarily to help build a spirit of community in our large and growing parish. And we continue this great tradition, as such events help to break down the size of the parish and make people feel a part of the community. Of course the funds generated by Festirama are essential for balancing our budget. But equally important are the opportunities for parishioners young and old to get to know each other as they work side by side during these three days. I encourage all of you to participate in and support Festirama The festival will be held on the East Campus again this year based on such positive feedback about the layout. Families will also be able to take advantage of the special family fun day packages for Saturday and Sunday. And as well as our chicken dinner take out was received, we will have more chicken! Enclosed you will find a volunteer form for you and your family. Your help is greatly needed and appreciated! It takes over 1000 committed volunteers to host and execute this massive community event in our parish. Please complete the form as soon as possible by returning it to the School, Parish Center or Sunday collection. Better yet, contact the coordinator of your interest by telephone or . Raffle tickets are enclosed, great prizes await the winners and early returns are always appreciated. Other enclosures include information on the discounted ride tickets, chicken dinner tickets, and the family fun package. Musical entertainment includes Haywire, on Friday, The Rock Show: Ultimate Tribute to Journey / Ultimate Rock Tribute on Saturday; and Route 64 on Sunday. Don t miss out on the fun and dancing! Of course, Festirama 2016 will include the delicious grilled chicken dinner, prepared by our own parishioners on Sunday. Returning events include Children s Games and Fun Spot, Face Painting, Balloons, BINGO, Fifty-Fifty and Market on Main. I will also be offering the raffle of my 7-course dinner for six people prepared and served by me. So, you see, there truly is something for everyone! Watch the bulletin for Festirama updates, and join us in this great community event. I look forward to seeing you and your family at Festirama 2016! Sincerely, Msgr. Dennis Metzger P.S. It s not too early to join Fr. Ritter in praying for good weather for May 20, 21, and 22!

5 SJS Festirama 2016 Included with this packet you will find some wristbands that are being provided, free-of-charge, to parishioners and your families and guests that accompany you. These wristbands will provide you and your family free admission to Festirama for the entire weekend. (One wristband per person.) Children under 10 have free admission and do not require a wristband. If you are a volunteer, we ask that you also wear this wristband to obtain entry to the festival. To foster a family-friendly event for the weekend, we will be charging a $5 admission on Friday and Saturday to attempt to reduce the number of groups/people that have come in the evenings to just hang out. Children under 10 may enter free of charge; children under 18 will not be permitted without a parent or guardian. The enclosed wristband will allow you to gain admission for the entire weekend and not have to pay the admission fee. If you are need of additional wristbands, they can be obtained at the parish center prior to Festirama. We thank you for your patience as we attempt to make this an event for families to feel comfortable to attend. If you would like to volunteer at the admissions gate, we would appreciate your help! Please use the enclosed volunteer form. This is a great opportunity for couples to volunteer. Must be 18 or older for this position. Sincerely, Dave Koenig Chairman, Admissions Festirama 2016
