2 WHAT S NEW AT THE RISE FOR 2017 OLD WESTBURY GARDENS LONG ISLAND Returning for the sixth year in a row at Old Westbury Gardens in New York s Long Island is the most iconic, truly unique, family-friendly fall event, RISE of the Jack O Lanterns! Come see thousands of hand-carved illuminated jack o lanterns creatively arranged along a scenic walking path and set to a musical score designed to bring out the fall spirit in visitors of all ages! This year, we re bringing back some of our fan-favorite classic themes, PLUS we ll be introducing some never-before-seen creations that are sure to wow both returning RISE fans and newbies alike! 5,000 FRESH REAL PUMPKINS CARVED EACH WEEK The RISE is the only event in the country that carves 5,000 fresh REAL pumpkins EACH WEEKEND! For you jack o lantern mathletes out there, that s a total of 20,000 jack o lanterns carved from fresh real pumpkins over the course of 4 weekends! Each one weighs about 20 pounds so that s about 400,000 pounds of pumpkins (200 tons) we ll go through during the month! It takes about 75 people, over a two-day period each week, to carve and place all 5,000 and then remove them all on Monday morning. Yes, we do have a few hundred carveable artificial pumpkins in our display, because some of our carvers prefer them, and those are in addition to the 5,000 jack o lanterns we carve from fresh real pumpkins each week! MULTI-PUMPKIN STRUCTURES Our iconic multi-pumpkin structures consist of dozens of illuminated jack o lanterns, and are hand-assembled into life-sized pieces of art.

Legend has it that the ghosts of an old biker gang are sometimes seen at night, rumbling down the garden roads on their hogs and spitting flames from their exhausts, so keep an eye out for them.

Come see more than 1,000 illuminated jack o lanterns carved by artists from around the tri-state area and staged along a festive, paved, tree-lined pathway among the backdrop of centuries old buildings in the heart of the Big Pumpkin, er, Big Apple, that is! Your adventure begins in Manhattan at the Battery Maritime Building where you ll board our ferry for a few minutes ride through New York Harbor to this truly unique jack o lantern jaunt here on Governors Island. HALLOWEEN SCENERY Upon arrival on the island, it s a short walk to the jack o lantern trail. Along the way, you ll take in breathtaking nighttime views of the Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty, and you ll pass the spooky Castle Willams, a former military fort and prison built in the early 1800 s. Once on the trail, you ll see our illuminated jack o lanterns staged along a festive, paved, tree-lined pathway among the backdrop of centuries old buildings. 9 TICKET INFORMATION & POLICIES PRESS: When writing about The RISE, it is critical to mention ADVANCED TICKETS REQUIRED. We do not want your audience to mistakenly show up at the event without tickets during a sold-out period. This will lead to unhappy visitors, and a potential public safety issue due to capacity limitations at our venues. ADVANCED TICKETS REQUIRED Advanced Tickets Required! Due to venue capacity limitations and to ensure an enjoyable experience to all visitors, there are a limited number of tickets available per date, time, and location. Tickets are available on a first-come first-served basis. Some or all dates/times will likely sell out so it s important to get tickets early. Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the door. TICKET SALE DATES AND TIMES Tickets will begin to go on sale at a date TBD. Pricing varies by date, time, and location. To receive an alert once tickets become available, sign up for a promocode by visiting mediakit. Last admission is 30 minutes after the last ticket time of the day. Event dates and times are subject to change. Visit for the most up-to-date schedule. DISCOUNT TICKETS Discount tickets are available on a first-come first-served basis. You can sign up to have a promocode ed to you for discounted tickets at Discounts are usually between 5%-60% off and will vary by ticket date, time, location and when you buy your tickets. Signing up for a promocode is also important because we will notify you via once tickets go on sale. GROUP RATE TICKETS Group rate tickets may be available for some dates, times, and locations depending on availability. Pricing and availability are subject to a first-come first-served basis. See the Group Sales page for more information and to get the discounts: E-TICKETS After purchase, your tickets will be in a PDF which you can get via the we send you or by logging in to The RISE website: This PDF can be printed, or you can save it on your smartphone. All you need to do is zoom into the barcode upon arrival and we ll scan you in! REFUNDS/EXCHANGES Tickets are not refundable. The No Refunds policy is in place because ticket revenue is used to deliver The RISE experience (pumpkins, paid artists, staff, fuel, etc.) The RISE has a general no exchange policy but may be able to honor an exchange request based upon ticket availability. RISE tickets are transferable so you can give them to friends or family if you choose. 10 PRESS TELEVISION AND RADIO INTERVIEWS Would you like to interview one of our master carvers? Let us know! We may be able to arrange live or taped interviews with some of our carvers at our event (usually opening night or the day/night before.) We also may be able to provide behind-the-scenes interviews at our pumpkin production studio in Peekskill, New York. IN-STUDIO INTERVIEWS We don t do many in-studio interviews or carving demonstrations because our master carvers have a very grueling schedule at our production studio and event venues. We highly recommend you schedule interviews with our master carvers at one of these locations. PRESS NIGHT & PRESS PASSES We sometimes have a special press event on opening night of The RISE.
