2 Eastern Ontario Ottawa HOG Chapter # 9007 Page 2 of 8 September Issue No. 09 Director's Message Sept 2011 WOW, What an active month of great riding and thoughtful celebration!! First off we had our Annual Benefit Ride which exceeded all expectations this year, followed by our Eastern Ontario Ottawa HOG Chapter s 25th Year Celebration Party and last but certainly not least, a combined Renfrew and Ottawa Chapter Ride to the Wilno Tavern in honour of Linda Allard. What a grand experience, to have these Significant Events come together over three consecutive weekends in such a perfectly organized and wonderfully successful way. For your reading pleasure, others will elaborate on the Benefit and Wilno Rides, so I ll recap on a few of the activities we shared at the 25th Anniversary Celebration Party. Starting the day (as always), with TimBits and Tim s Coffee, Members enjoyed rotating around the 12 tables that were set up under the Big Tent. On each table were Chapter photo albums full of memories and past events. On display were many Chapter Trophies, our Original Chapter Charter and awesome Decorations fitting for such a Momentous Occasion. To the left of the Big Tent we had two smaller welcome tents with our Time Capsule at one end and a 25th Anniversary Chapter Flag displayed at the other. Kudos to Nathalie for acquiring this magnificent flag to commemorate our Special Day. Many thanks to Nathalie and Waldo for their enormous contributions to making our Party so successful. Starting to set up on the right side of the Big Tent is the BBQ Pit and Caterers arriving with all the trimmings. Good time to head out for a ride. Thank you Dennis for managing the groups and arranging the Ride route. When we returned, the 12 tables are now covered in White linen tablecloths with Full China and Stemware settings. Flavoured carbonated drinks in decorative Champagne-style bottles for every table, beautifully topped off the arrangements. The Music was playing and we had a large array of member photos and past events projected on the inside of the tent for all to enjoy. After 25 years we are privileged to still have our Founding Director Andrew and his lovely wife Lynn, continue on as members of our Family. Andrew and our GM Rosalie each gave expressively thoughtful speeches that were followed by rounds of genuine applause. Now comes the Food! Roast Beef, Roast Pork, Salads, Potatoes, Rice, Sauces, Buns, Butter and Corn on the Cob. An Outstanding Meal!! Many thanks to Foodies of Almonte for Catering to us over and above the call and a big thank you hug to Rene for introducing them to us. Not to be outdone by the Dessert from our very own Diana. We got to indulge even further on this Fabulous Cake with two Motorcycles made of pure sugar that decorated the top, on either side of the 25th Anniversary Emblem, which was designed by Lise and JP s son, Raymond. After the meal we enjoyed the Time Capsule once again and resealed it with new items including a Collection of Memories from Dr. Gerry, one of the Sugared Motorcycles, our Party Guest Book of Signatures and those Great Speeches to be revealed again in another 5 years. We had Door Prizes, Silent auction of collectables, 50/50, Open Mike, Photo Ops and more than I can recall. All and all it was a true Celebration befitting the Occasion. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did. Many Thanks to all who helped out, especially Rosalie and Staff who made it all possible and to all who came out to enjoy the day. - Nicki

Deadline for receiving October newsletter submissions: October 1, Your editor, Deb Templeton A Few Words of Thanks Submitted by Steve Templeton I would like to thank those that have helped in this years EOO HOG Breast Ride Ever. We were invited to attend the Ottawa International Motorcycle show in January, we had a logo contest, we hosted the Chili Cook off in June along with also being invited to the Merrickville motorcycle show, and finally our benefit ride in August. The numbers are in and we had 25% increase in participation over last year, on the day of the benefit ride we raised 39% more in funds than last year, and of the 120 participants 66% were non-members. When we take into account all the money raised and donated this year we are closing in on $10,000. I am hoping to have a date come the September General Meeting as to the Cheque presentation.

My bike was down for repairs, and I showed up at the Harley dealership to participate (was more to help out) with this event. When I was asked were my bike was and I told them it wasn't running, Nicki went in and spoke with Rosalie about lending me a demo bike. Mark then came out and asked me which bike I wanted the Roadglide or Streetglide so I was given the keys and off we went for the run. I was very happy that they loaned me a brand new bike for this run. We were gone for a few hours and it was great...i really had a great day! I would like to thank Rosalie and Mark for setting me up for the ride. Freedom Harley-Davidson of Ottawa will always be the good guys in my book. Saturday 10:30 a.m. We Met At The Antrim Truck Stop To Join With Ross, Jim, And Several Other Renfrew County HOG Chapter Members To Ride Through Some Beautiful Countryside, Ending Up At Wilno Tavern. This Was An Impressive Site With 19 EOO Chapter Members And 15 Members From The Renfrew Chapter, All Travelling Together. Good Food And Great Desserts Were Sampled By All In Attendance. Although The Skies Seemed Threatening At Times We Managed To Stay Dry All Day. If You Missed Out On The Ride This Year, Plan On Attending Next Year, Sure To Be Another Great Run, While Remembering Our Good Friend With The Big Smile. - More Others

We Had A Great Turn Out, A Back Road Tour Through Some Of Linda's Favorite Areas, Good Food, Great Prizes, And A Wonderful Day Overall. All Of This Was Accomplished By You The Participants, The Work Force, Volunteers, The Dealership And Staff, And By The Enormous Effort And Commitment By Steve Templeton The Event Coordinator Who Worked Throughout This Past Year Making This Year's Event The Most Successful To Date. Thanks To All Involved Especially Steve - Very Well Done! -Others Linda enjoyed her desserts and riding her bike! Her smile speaks for itself. Dessert Ride August 27 th, 2011 In Memory of Linda Allard A big thank you to the Renfrew County HOG Chapter for putting together such a well-organized ride and thank you to all our members who participated! It was a great opportunity to get to know some of our fellow members from another chapter. A few of us from the East end drove down together to the Antrim Truck Stop in Arnprior, the meeting point for this ride. homemade Polish buffet and some out of this world desserts (trust me, I have a big sweet tooth, they have really good desserts ;-). At Wilno Tavern everything is made on site, from scratch and you can really taste it. Not to mention a nice welcoming atmosphere and staff. A total of 35 bikes made it. The day was beautiful, nice roads, good friends, great food, just like Linda would have liked it. We hope you can all join us next year. Until then, ride safe and have fun! Those who arrived early enjoyed breakfast and coffee before departing to our final destination; the Wilno Tavern in Wilno. On the way, we stopped at the Shell gas station in Eganville which is located at the corner of highway 41 and County Road 512.
