3 President s Report March 2012 At the February 25th meeting, we had a good turnout. We discussed the activities for the coming season. One item was brought up regarding the Emeritus (formerly Sunrise) of Lynnwood retirement facility and the need for us to provide more cars if possible. They would like to have at least 10 cars on display and optionally to give rides to residents of the retirement facility. We would like to encourage as many participants as possible in this worthy and fun activity. We discussed the request from the Holy Rosary school in West Seattle who is having a fund raising auction. The theme will be Puttin on the Ritz, a return to the Roaring 20 s. They would like to have some Model T s parked out in front. This might be a good activity for our club to participate in particularly those who live near West Seattle. If you are interested in showing your car on April 28 th, contact me or Dwaine as soon as possible. The coming swap meet was discussed. As we mentioned in my last Presidents Message, the swap meet committee needs to collect T parts for the spring swap meet. We are currently storing the stash of parts in one of my sheds. If you have parts for the swap meet, we have room to store them. Give me or one of the committee members a call and we will arrange for pickup and/or delivery. For the entertainment part of the meeting Harold Musolf gave a talk and showed a video about the Ford tri-motor airplane history and development. It was very interesting. He did not have time to show the full video or go into depth into his knowledge of the Ford tri-motor. We can look forward to future presentations on this same subject. Mike and Donna McGinnis were not at the meeting due to an operation Mike recently had. We wish him a speedy recovery and good luck. Spring is coming and tour time is near. Contact Jerry and Patty Wrolstad with any tours or activities that you would care to sponsor. Let s get out there and have some fun! Dick Borton Special Meeting March 31st Co-President Dwaine has a special presentation in mind for the club meeting on March 31st. Come see what he has up his sleeve this time!

4 PSC Meeting Minutes February 25, 2012 Co-President Dick Borton called the meeting to order at 12:10 PM at Bob s Burger & Brew on Evergreen Mall Way. There were 20 present. Minutes: Ann Musolf moved to approve the minutes as written in the T'Oilers and Walt Berdan seconded the motion. Treasurer s Report: Ann Musolf gave the report and we are solvent. Coming Events: Jerry and Patty Wrolstad are working on an idea and considering a Tulip Tour. The affect of the weather on the tulips makes timing difficult. Walt Berdan received an concerning an event at Holy Rosary School. They are Putting on the Ritz Roaring Twenties theme and would like some antique cars. Walt will take his car and there is space for parking trailers. The question was raised, Do we have a Club Banner to Display? Walt offered to look into having one made and will check with National for a Logo. May 11 th & 12 th is the Swap Meet. Saleable parts are needed. Parts may be stored at the Bortons, if you need to move them out right away. Non Model T but car related parts may also be sold. The Emeritus Retirement home asked us to plan on returning when we were there last year. That would probably be June 16 th and they like to have 10 cars. Web Site: Larry Mann puts up the T Oiler each month and he can always use pictures. There is no hit counter on the site. Safety: Harold Musolf reminded people to do their safety checks when they get the cars out in the spring. Also, rear lights were discussed. Raffle Winners: Bev Borton, Ann Musolf, Nancy Moore, Patty Wrolstad, Dick Gourley, Harold Mann, and Walt Berdan. Sunshine: Mike McGinnis just had surgery on his foot. News letter: Walt Berdan can always use material. Roster: Donna McGinnis - It is coming, being slightly delayed, due to nursing Mike. Badge Drawing: Al Murray but he wasn t present. Old Business: None New Business: Adam VonRote has a Mother-in-Law 1909 T and needs help with it. He lives in the Factoria area. The next meeting will be on March 31 st at the South Center Sizzler. This meeting, which included a lunch break, was closed at 1:08 PM. The Program was presented by Harold Musolf, Jr. He brought models, pictures, and books about Henry Ford s Tri Motor Airplane. We saw a 20 minute video with original film clips from the Ford Photo Collec-

5 tion. Henry Ford had the first Air Freight Service in the U.S. He held over 30 patents for aviation and shared the information from them. He built the first Concrete Runway and the 1 st Passenger Terminal. Thank you, Harold. Respectfully, Joyce Arneson, Secretary Model T Display at Holy Rosary School Our Presidents recently received the following request: Dear Dwaine and Dick, This may be a really strange request, or one you get all of the time... so here goes... We are planning our fund raising auction for our school in West Seattle. This is our main fund raiser for the year and the only night out for many of our parents - so there is a lot of pressure to make it unforgettable. The night consists of a silent auction in our school hall and then a live auction/sit down dinner in the gym. Using hundreds of parent volunteer hours, we are able to completely transform our gym into a beautiful ballroom decorating it with whatever the theme is for the given year. This year's auction theme is "Puttin' on the Ritz, a return to the Roaring 20's". Now you know why I'm writing you! When brainstorming last night we thought - wouldn't it be great to have a few authentic Model Ts from the 20's parked out in front of our beautiful school as the auction guests arrive (between 5-7pm) -- or maybe even have one on static display to have pictures taken in front of (most of our guest will be dressed in 20's attire). I think it would really set the tone for the night and also really impress our 350+ guests! Do you think this is this something anyone in your club would be interested in participating in? The auction will be held on Saturday, April 28th. Thank you for your time! Kind Regards, Marty Sumner Johnson Link to our school's website: This seems like an excellent opportunity to display some of our cars and get a bit of publicity as well as to help out the school with their fund raising event. Ray Moore has offered to display his 26 Tudor and Walt Berdan will bring his 26 Coupe but we could use some more cars for this event. There is trailer parking available in the near vicinity. If you would be willing to bring your car, or if you have any questions, please contact Dwaine Engler at (360) or dlengler@yahoo.com or Dick Borton at (360) or horses@fishcreekfarm.com

Monroe Swap Meet May It's that time again, time for the annual Monroe Swap Meet. As in past years, the PSC MTFCA will have a booth in bldg Ray Moore and Jerry & Patty Wrolstad will be coordinating the club's participation in the event. If you have any parts you would like to sell on consignment, or donate to the club for the sale, please make arrangements to get the parts to Ray or Jerry, or Dwaine Engler for those "up north". As always, the club retains 10% of all consignment proceeds. Please ensure that all items are well marked with name and asking price. Also, if you would like to help man the booth for a couple of hours, please call Jerry Wrolstad to schedule your times. The booth will be open 8a - 5p on Saturday and 8a - 2p on Sunday (if anything left to sell). Or, if you're in the area and wish to stop by to visit and possibly "spell someone off" for an hour or so, please do so. Jerry, Patty, Ray and Dwaine Engler will be at the booth for the whole period. Because we have about run out of club-owned parts to sell, we'll be relying more on consignments and new donations again this year. The booth will continue to be an "information source" for prospective members and model T'ers in general. "Club Store" items will also be offered for sale. Contact numbers are: Ray Moore: Jerry Wrolstad: Dwaine Engler:

7 Speedy Is Back Jerry Wrolstad has been busy this winter finishing body and paint work on Speedy. While not shown in the photos, it has a top designed by Jerry too.

8 Classifieds For Sale: My grandfather restored this runabout 10 years ago but it has only been driven in parades, and the occasional sunny day neighborhood loop. He made some very solid, but thoughtfully reversible upgrades. These include, -Rewiring the gas headlights and taillights with electric bulbs, using existing fixtures. A subtle and tasteful modification. The Acetylene tank is still in place and functional. The running lamps are still gas. -A dipstick, so no more double-petcock checking on your back. -An under-the-seat electric start has been installed (as well as in cab choke cable), but the hand crank is still functional, as well. He found this T in boxes and put it all back together again, sourcing all appropriate Ford parts that were missing or needed replacement from authentic Ford parts dealers. The top and seats have been redone, as well. This is a fully turnkey, well maintained specimen. My grandfather was never one to cut corners. This vehicle was a labor of love and his pride and joy. Since he passed, I have continued to maintain it in a fully garaged environment. I have talked it over with my wife and grandmother and we have decided that it should go to another good home where it will be enjoyed and cared for.
