PURPOSE OF THE CLUB To serve as a medium of exchange of ideas, information, and parts for owners and admirers of the Model A Ford car, and to aid them in their efforts to restore and preserve the car in its original likeness, as well as other aspects of the Model A hobby. To unite in a central club all persons who are interested in restoring, maintaining, and enjoying the Model A Ford automobile in a manner to attract prestige and respect within the community; and it shall further be the purpose of this Club to help these people become better acquainted, and to encourage and maintain among its members the spirit of good-fellowship; sociality, and fair play through sponsored activities including the use of the Model A Ford and family participation. MEETINGS General The third Monday of each month. Board The first Tuesday after first Monday of each month. Millwood City Hall at Denney s Restaurant, N. Argonne & I E. Frederick Ave. All members are invited. 7:00 P.M. 6:30 P.M. MEMBERSHIP DUES: $25.00 per year. Dues are payable to the Inland Empire Model A Club treasurer at the general meeting or mail to our treasurer, Sheila Gibbons, P.O. Box 574, Veradale, WA Membership in the Club as well as MAFCA is from January 1 to December 31 of each year. A New Applicant paying dues on or after November l of each year constitutes payment of the full dues for the ensuing calendar year. Membership in the National club (MAFCA) is a prerequisite for all active members in the local club. TRENT President s Message Hi Everyone. I hope you are all ready for fall cuz it is looking pretty good out there. We ll be having turkey dinner before you know it. Only two cars and one modern made it to the Odessa parade. But the weather was great and we all had a good time. The Hutton Settlement tour was really interesting and we learned a lot of the story behind the settlement. The grounds were beautiful, the buildings were amazing, and the weather was perfect! Our tour guide was great and we were invited back next year for their open house celebrating their 100th anniversary. She will keep us posted. Thanks to everyone who came out and joined us. It was a nice day and a memorable event. Well it seems our tour season has pretty much ended for this year unless we have a last minute dinner tour. Watch for s and check out the A Talepipe for any new announcements. Also, don t forget this month about nominations for new board members. Opening for President, Treasurer, and Membership. So be ready! In the meanwhile get out and enjoy all the great fall colors while they last. Hope to see you all Monday night Jackie Bonner President It s time for another meeting. The fall weather has certainly moved in a hurry. Thanks to Jim Pendleton and Steve Schmauch for putting together one more tour before we retire our cars to winter storage. I have no idea of any program for the meeting. Please give Gary some suggestions for seminars you might enjoy and the board will see that they happen. Don t miss the meeting and the last tour on the following Saturday. It should be interesting! See you Monday night. Save Time by Working Smarter Jim s Tech Tips By Jim Cannon, MAFCA Technical Director While My Oil Gently Drains Every time you drain the engine oil to change it, while you are waiting for all the dripping to stop, may I suggest you add the following simple items to your oil change routine? Check the ignition point gap with a feeler gauge. Adjust if required. Look at the points to make sure they still look good (not pitted or burnt). Wipe off the ignition cam with a rag. Now put a small dab of fresh cam grease on two of the lobes of the ignition cam. Put a drop or two of light oil in the little oiler on the side of the distributor. If you have the cam screw with the hole drilled in it, put a drop or two in there also. Put a couple of drops of engine oil in each hole on top of the throttle assembly that is bolted to the back of the engine. Check the fan belt for tension. That s it. In the time it takes for the oil to all drain out, you have taken care of several little routine maintenance items on your A that will help keep it running well and avoid a problem on the road. An Early Bird Breakfast: Those who want to start the day even earlier will be meeting at 8:00 am at Frank's Diner just a few blocks away on 2nd and Maple for Breakfast before heading to meet the group at 9:30 am. This is one of those special tours that is a perk of being a club member, since this is a collection that is not open to the public. National Model A Tour hosted by Canyonlands special Interest Group. Oct 7-11, 2019 Kanab, Utah. This will be a hub and spoke tour of the Redrock Canyonlands of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. Based out of Kanab, Utah, we will travel through the areas national parks and monuments. The Canyonlands is home to miles of river canyon, mesas, buttes, slot cayons, and brilliant red rock faces and peaks. We will tour through Bryce Canyon, at the northernmost part of the Grand Staircase, which stretches to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, and the Grand StaircaseEscalate National monument. 5 GENERAL MEETING September 17, 2018 The meeting was called to order by President Jackie Bonner at 7:00 pm. She first off reminded everyone they should be sure that their vehicles are secured. This neighborhood has some issues. The secretary s minutes were accepted as printed in the A Talepipe without orrections. The treasurer s report was read and accepted without questions. Eileen LaFrance brought membership applications to keep in your cars. Laura Henke is getting a name button order ready. If you want a button or a new button, bring a picture of your car and give it to Laura and she will order them. Jackie remined everyone that we have elections coming up in November for President, Membership and Treasurer. Let her know if you want to run or nominate someone. Steve Schmauch presented the board with a check for $ from the V-8 Club for Swap meet work and thanked everyone who helped on such short notice. Jackie took a head count for the Hutton tour. If anyone would like to volunteer to help with the Christmas party, please let Jackie know. Gary Wassom would like to know if anyone has a presentation they would like to do at a meeting. It was announced that Ted Alkier won first place at the recent speedster run in Wilsonville, Oregon over the Labor day week-end. Sheila Gibbons may put together a Bear Creek tour in October so watch your . With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:27 pm followed by social time. Also present were Laura and Dave Henke and Eileen. Absent Sheila Gibbons, Maureen Beldsoe and Gary Wassom. Jackie asked for any changes to the last minutes as published in the A Talepipe. Being none they are approved. No treasurer s report available. Steve Schmauch did present our group with a check for $ from the V-8 Club swap meet for our help. We also received a check from Millwood City Hall returning our rent for the month s of October and November. These items will be noted in the next treasurer s report. Laura reports one new member joined at last month s meeting. He is Scott Colgrove and his wife Diana. He just recently bought a 29 Tudor. Eileen inquired about the January pot luck being a possibility again in our new facility. Jackie had already checked on this and we can continue with this as long as we make sure we leave the kitchen clean. She also reports that we must make a change of meeting place in our membership brochure. This will be done. Dave reports that his committee of Steve Schmauch and Jerel Rowe have had one meeting and discussed several ideas for the upcoming 2020 three day event hosted by our club. No definite date picked yet, but thinking about a September meeting. Jim Pendleton submitted plans for a quick tour to be held Saturday, October 20th. He and Steve Schmauch have been talking with Chuck Little of the V-8 club and have arranged for us to tour Chuck s collections of cars. Complete details will be found in the A Talepipe. This will probably end our touring season for this year. Jackie reminded us that nominations will be accepted at the October meeting for open board positions: president, treasurer and membership.
