2 Tom & Sue Wright District Directors TEAM IOWA Good Morning everyone, well the Iowa District Rally is less than a month away and I hope everyone is registered or will be registering soon so we can get an accurate count for Dinner on Saturday evening. If you haven t let us know if you are planning on the Thursday evening ride to Sun and Fun in Iowa City or the morning ride to Deans Destination Power Sports in Oelwein please do so we can get a count for both. These are both led rides we need a count so each destination has an idea how much food will be needed so no one goes hungry. We do have some things up our sleeve for the Rally that no one knows about and you won t want to miss out on so come prepared for surprises. Remember the more you participate in GWRRA the more fun you will have. Thanks for all you do and hope to see you all at the Rally September 29 th and 30 th. You won t be disappointed. 3 TEAM IOWA John & Yvette Moravec Assistant District Directors Hello everyone, The kids are heading back to school. The temps are starting to come down, and the days are getting shorter. A couple of weeks ago we went to the region rally - the last one. We had a great time and got to see some friends we hadn't seen in a while. It won't be long and we'll have our own Iowa rally. Again, we'll get to see some friends we hadn't seen in a while. I just want to mention something that crossed my mind. This organization allows us to get together with friends. Friends that we've know for some time, and some for the first time. It's an incredible chance to get together with people that share our love for motorcycling. The neighbor and I had a chance to talk, and he made me realize that we are gone a LOT. A ride here, a rally there, but the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of our busy schedules and just relax and spend time away from the phone, TV, and anything else in our lives that keep us from being close to each other. Don't take it for granted, and get away every chance you can. Although the region is going away, the friendships don't have to. But it will take a little more to keep those friends close - pick up the phone and go for a ride! As mentioned, our Iowa rally is coming up, at the end of September. It's always a good time! So what are you going to do to make this rally a memorable one? Cheer on your couple or individual of the year? How about go for a ride on Thursday or Friday. Light or bike show? How about a chapter challenge - does your chapter have what it takes to meet the "challenge"? Well we'll see about that! Bring your game face, start that trash talking, and come ready to do battle. Hopefully, you're planning on coming to show Tom and Sue Wright how much we've appreciated what they've done as our District Directors. Sometimes we forget to thank the people that make things go. They spend a lot of time preparing for this event, to make it a great rally for you. When you see them there make sure you let them know how you appreciate what they've done. Finally, I wanted to say thank you to all who participated with the Ronald McDonald house. Not just the one in Iowa City, but to those in other parts of the state that made their RMH a recipient of the GWRRA family. I am very proud of our organization and how we support the local communities and charities. You are good people and I'm proud to call you my friend. We enjoy every minute we can spend with all of you, even though our time has been more limited this year due to work schedules. Just a reminder that all Individuals of the Year and Couples of the Year will be escorted on Friday at the District Rally. If you can, please be there for the opening ceremonies at 2, because everything for you rolls out right after that. Hopefully, your Chapter Directors can be in attendance to escort you around 3:30. 6 TEAM IOWA Lonnie & Diane Borseth District Educators Change is coming, as I m sure most of you have heard by now, some changes will be forthcoming after the 1 st of the year in GWRRA. Lots of rumors so let s wait till all the dust settles and let s see what s planned. Been a busy few weeks leading up to Caleb & Heather s wedding, lots of fun watching them plan and helping when & where needed. It s going to be a beautiful wedding. The wedding takes place the first part of the month and the Iowa District Rally takes place the end of the month with lots to do in between. Please plan to attend, Tom & Sue & the District team have been working hard to make this Rally fun for everyone. We have the list of donors for the blood drive all set up but if you didn t get on the list, there are still a few walk-in time slots so just find Diane or myself & we ll get you directed in the right direction. Please read the 2 links I ve provided this month, one will inform you how to get ready to donate & the other will explain Diane s comment about being a HERO Please read it.
