Allen thanked the chapter for the help we provided in moving one of their airplanes on and off campus. He talked about allowing chapter members to be associate members in the Aero Club which would allow use of the Aero Club aircraft with no voting rights in the club. Exact details were not finalized. There was a back and forth conversation about possibilities. Allen is going to get a proposal from the officers of the Aero Club and present it to us for our review. This is a very interesting partnership and can benefit both the Aero Club and our chapter members that are looking for aircraft to rent. -Details were finalized about the Meeting next Monday.

2 -Gary E. talked about progress made in regards to getting a door on the side of the hanger. He will get a letter of authorization to have the door installed. -Gary also is looking for ideas in coming up with a solution to the ice buildup on the north facing Aero Club hanger doors. -procedures for accessing the tool crib were discussed. 9/16/ EAA Chapter 551 meeting 6:30. 4 News and Notes: Last month members of EAA chapter 551 helped members of the St. Cloud Aero Club move their Cessna 152 out to campus. The aircraft was on display and the Aero Club had an eye catching booth to generate interest among students and attract new members. The Aero Club was grateful for the help our members provided. Doing things like this help our chapter and our cause to get more people active in G.A.

5 The chapter tool crib has been moved to the Aero Club hanger. Any member wanting to use a tool should Mark at notam@eaa551.org and he will arrange a time or people to meet you. 6 Members are very interested in what other members are flying and building. Please send pictures of your project, airplane and trips you have taken with a short write up so we can post them in Granite City Flight Lines. I hope everyone notices and likes the changes to the newsletter. In an effort to attract more interest in our chapter and aviation in our community, we have made some improvements to the newsletter and website. Rob Jahnke is heading up website improvements. We also have a presence on some social networking sites like, Facebook and Twitter. One of the down sides of these outlets is the need to protect personal information of our members. An effort is being made to not post personal info on any document that may be accessible to outside individuals. His Vertical and Horizontal stab. Are done (rudder and elevator too) His wings are being assembled in a jig; his gas tanks are almost finished.

8 Mark Phillips is making progress on his Scratch Built Bearhawk (4 Place) The main Spars are done and ready for assembly. The rear spars are still under construction. The flaps and ailerons are under construction also.
