1 The Privy Barony of Terra Pomaria Baron and Baronessa s Words Joyous greetings we do bid unto the populace of the great lands of Terra Pomaria that stretch from her salty shores in the west, across fertile valleys and reach up the lofty mountains to the east. Summer has played hide-and-seek with us all and now it seems Fall is not far off in visiting these lands. Throughout our travels we have been met with great courtesy and hospitality from our fellow An Tirans and brothers and sisters of the Summits. We look forward to the time when our hosts will in turn become our guests and we will be able to display our own Barony s generosity and hospitality. We look forward to Their Royal Majesties, King Thorin and Queen Dagmaer, attending Summits Winter Investiture 11 th Night to be held 10 December in our barony to honor Prince Brian and Princess Acacia as they stepping down from the lofty Alpine Thrones and witness the investiture of Their Heirs, Lord Laurs and Lady Ӕtta Surtr. Winter Investiture includes the contests for and installations of both the Captain of Cats/Rapier Champion and the Alpine Scholar/Arts & Sciences Champion as well as an evening feast. The Baronessa is the event steward and hopes to see many volunteers and artisans from across the Summits help make this a special event for all. It is not often that one can watch an archery tournament without missing a rapier or heavy fighter contest so join us at the Baronial Archery Championship to be held at Baron Gawin s and Baroness Marianna s lands in Colton on 8 Oct. This is a great opportunity to try your hand at shooting with a bow and to show support to the archery community. Last, but not least, another Coast Fighter Practice has been scheduled for Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint on 16 Oct. We hope the weather will hold and more of you will come for the fun. Our current Arts and Sciences Champion, Companion Mhairi mon myn Cymru, will have contest rules out about the upcoming Baronial Arts and Sciences Championship to be held at Winter s End. Additional arts and sciences contests are being planned and will be announced. In an effort to encourage more participation in arts and sciences contests, the Baron s Courtiers have been tasked with mentoring individuals for competition. If you would like to be mentored, contact the Baron. We depend upon the populace, baronial officers and deputies to keep us informed of individuals whose contributions to the Barony, both great and small, within the Barony and without, should be noted. We request that award recommendations be made to us in writing and in no less than thirty days prior to a Baronial event. There is a link for award recommendations on the Awards Page of the Barony s web site, The deadline is to allow the Baronial Scribe time to arrange for the completion a charter or commission an original scroll for a particular award in sufficient time for presentation. It also allows our artisans enough time to create the items given to recipients of certain special awards. Award recommendations made after an event deadline will be considered for the next upcoming baronial event. We would remind you that not all recommendations may be acted upon as you may expect as these individuals may have already received a particular award, may not be attending the event or other reasons. We remind all that our events for 2012 are open for bids. There are many in the Barony who serve in multiple capacities as officers, sergeantry and retinue. For those who are not so encumbered, consider offering service to your Barony as an event steward. Lack of experience should not be an issue as the Barony has a process in place for training new event stewards. We encourage you to contact the Baronial Seneschal, Countess Berengeria de Montfort de Carcassonne, about the bidding process or for more information about event stewardship. Our progress calendar has been busy and promises to continue to be so as the year is not yet out. Chronicler s Words Here it finally is, and with the gracious help of my friends I will be back on schedule. Fall may be here, and Crown and Coronet may have already passed, but don t think that means eventing is done for the year. There are still several activities and events coming up both in and around the barony, including Terra Pomaria s Archery Championship on its own day, October 8th. There will also be a return of Celeidh, and another coast fighter practice on October 16th.
