1 The Privy Barony of Terra Pomaria Baron and Baroness swords Our warmest greetings to all of Terra Pomaria! It would seem that Spring has finally arrived to ease the chill in our bones. It has been a busy time and will continue to be so as we enter tourney season. The Riverfront Faire was held on a day when Winter and Spring were contesting the other's right to claim to these fair lands. Despite the cold wind and threatening skies, We were proud to see our populace extend warm welcome and courtsey to the many visitors who found their way to our world. We greatly appreciate the participation of our neighboring Scadians who travelled here and helped create a truly wonderful and memorable experience for our modern visitors.many thanks to HL Geoffrey Fitz Henrie, event steward, his support net, HL Brigit of Guernsey, and event staff for a magical Demo. But no rest for any of us as we turmed to prepare for Bar Gemels. There will be plenty of activities to either watch or participate in. Volunteer time to help ease the burden on event staff. It is Our hope that that there will be newcomers in attendance. We call upon our members to do your utmost to bid hearty welcome to these folks and show them the best of Terra Pomaria! Chatelaine wording on appeal for deputy Baronessa several suggestions, will Exchequer The Barony's bank balance as of the end of March was $ With uncashed checks the register was $ I have been tracking down the uncashed checks from as far back as September. My deputy and I both attended a day long training session taught by the Kingdom Exchequer and we both learned quite a bit. The quarterly/doomsday report changed at the end of 2010 and with the change, the way we do some of our accounting will have to change too. I'm in the process of working that out, but it doesn't seem to be much of a problem, just a change in thinking. The financial committee met on April 12, and started the process of reviewing the financial policy, and hashed out a budget. Our reserve is very low and we reduced our non-event budget by nearly $2000, by reducing most of the Office budget's by 40%. This is not including Scribe that office is using original budget to full. Each of the officer should have received a slip showing how this tentative budget will affect their office specifically so that any projects they have planned can be addressed if needed. If you know you'll have anything exceeding that, please let us know The finalized budget should be sent out with the business meeting notes in the next Privy. Has received amended Winter s End final report: $ total profit/loss Need to pick new Financial committee member Requirements are: SCA paid adult member not currently an officer not huge commitment attending business meeting and occasional financial com-

The Golden Apple tournament was held there, the winner was Sir Rustam. He will select the weapon style for next month's tournament, but has not yet announced it. Despite automatic announcements going out about the Golden Apple this week, there will not actually be one Wednesday. Next tournament will be May 18th. Seneschal - Moderns were very fasci-

10 Meeting start: 7pm Attendance Torsten, Alail, Berengaria, Fortune, Kenji, Simon, Berta, Melanie, Juliana, Francesca, Michael, Finna, Tassi, Mike, Catherine Quiting, Maccus, Ariana, Dikran Aivazian, Olive de Hallewelle, Alyna, Macha the Determined Seneschal thanks for hard work been epic June Corovestiture! enjoyed last 6½ weeks seeing group doing its best Baron/baroness Michael: seconds Seneschal thank you, you're great couple housekeeping issues sargentry candidates keep eye on them and report what see -good and bad there are 4: Torsten, Simon, Tassi, Kenji need award recommendations would like to place an awards recommendation page on website can still submit in writing looking at cut off of 30 days before event enough time to give scribe enough time Chronicler Privy not out sorry been fuzzy for last week Exchequer The bank balance as of April 30th was $ Our register balance including deposits from Bar Gemels and uncashed checks is $ This does not include the proceeds of the garage sale held last weekend. I'd like to commend Fortune, Brigit, and Finna for organizing and running two fundraisers that help make me a much happier exchequer. Vern and I worked together to figure out the new Business Meeeting Notes May 21, 2011 quarterly report format, and manage to complete and send of the form off a week before the panicked s began showing up on the exchequer list because the new form wasn't calculating automatically. Gold Key was used at Bar Gemels by an unknown number, and by two newcomers at Ceilidh. I am unhappy with leaving it so utterly unattended as it was at Bar Gemels and I would love to have someone take on the office that could provide the little attention it needs to really make events work well. Barring a volunteer to take the office, I am interested in finding someone that is willing to keep the Ceilidh box and bring it to Ceilidh. There's usually only a couple of items to wash from Ceilidh. I would prefer to have the option to not attend on occasion, as the Ceilidh starts at the same time as bedtime for one of my kids. The financial committee has not been able to meet since last business meeting. The financial policy of the barony is currently under review and we feel that the comp list at events needs to be clarified. The financial policy currently states: Those Baronial officers (i.e. Marshal, Lists person, waterbearer, etc.) who are actively performing their official duties as required at a Baronial event are exempt from paying site fee. Baronial Champions are exempt from paying site fee when attending the next year s event in which their champion contest is held. For event staff exemptions, the autocrat must submit a list of names for review and approval of the Finance Committee, preferably as part of the original event bid. Other site fee exemptions include those covered by Principality and Kingdom Laws [seated Nobility, their Heirs, and Territorial Baron(s)/Baroness (es)]. This has been interpreted many different ways in the past. As we prepare to make a list of those officers and other individuals that may be

11 comped to an event, we would like the input of the officers and populace of the barony so that we may take it into consideration. Financial committee will meet in the next couple of weeks, please get us your feedback Gold key Torsten volunteered to take the Ceilidh box Herald very happy with first month Herald in Charge of Bar Gemels and impromptu court at Ceilidh confirmation and submitted paperwork so final confirmed in OP yay! Merget's device was returned for redraw Berta's not accepted but not denied sparked much discussion Simon have device set and talking about it with other heralds A&S didn't get report in as down all week as meeting between large moving object and foot looking for deputy if get job applied for, could have to disappear cross country for extended time on short notice need to have someone who can take over if that happens next night in conjunction with bardic: 1 week from tonight at Juliana's Berengaria been going to Adiantum culinary group meetings, good stuff March Business Meeting (cont.) one minor injury at Bar Gemels Heavy Marshal Simon gets authorized soon hopefully this week! Lights still coming on at practice site Fighter practice has been active; unfortunately I had to miss one of the largest Mid-Willamette practices in recent months for personal reasons heard it was awesome though Bar Gemels went quite well; we had two heavy tournaments, both won by Viscount Sir Rustam. Wednesday night is the next Golden Apple Tournament. Style will be any legal weapons combination, two limb hits equal a kill with limbs to be kept. would be good to have Senior Marshalls there to help Next up: Grand Thing in North, Egils in South West-An Tir war is coming up; all fighters are encouraged to participate on behalf of the Barony Juliana- and volunteer at Gate! Contact Pied Piper Ceidella, she would love suggestions Also have 3 people in branch with background check, so won't have to cancel if she can't be there Setting up heavy scenarios for Sunday example: 5 man team melees doesn't require much equipment, but challenging Do you have a chirurgeon? 15 like to show off so can arrange it all so fits nicely in small space In order to get free or discounted admission, have to be specific what doing Demo style show up in garb and in persona We have a lot going on this year, and if people haven't come to meetings may not have heard put out to list to get word out Also put on Facebook page In situation where what have to do is get bids out earlier Especially Long & Short next year we have a LOT happening at that event What happened to moving the date? Consensus to go to day event on traditional weekend this year given everything else going on Looking at moving next year But next year won't have problem with Sport of Kings but the year after next it will 2 nd weekend in October pretty much only one not reserved But other groups bouncing back and forth Also to consider, if want to do more archery/ equestrian last in August always opposite William Tell Chronicler s Words Greetings unto the great Barony of Terra Pomaria! Corovestiture is past, and the tourney season is moving into full swing. Summer weather has finally come, and with the comes the sounds of War. The drums beat, the horns call An Tir / West War is just around the corner, and the coming weekends are filling up fast. As we all recover from our efforts these last few months, I once again send out my plea to please think about contributing an article or pictures to the Privy. It could be as simple as a story about our Barony s history, or as in depth the fruits of an Arts & Sciences research effort. As for pictures, I can t make it to every event, and it would be nice to showcase what other members of the Barony have done elsewhere. Thank you all. Yours in Service, Alyna Trewpeny March Business Meeting (cont.)
