2 Dear Members of The Capital City Corvette Club From myself, Ralph Shaheen and our General Manager Jason Cords we would like to say thank you, and we appreciate your decision on allowing us to become your new sponsor! We absolutely feel this will be a great marriage of two great organizations, and we look forward to your affiliation. Our mission statement at Shaheen Chevrolet is We are Dedicated to Providing the Ultimate Automotive Experience and I know this will ring true as your sponsor as well! To kick things off as your new sponsor I am going to hold a contest. The contest involves doing a new vinyl wrap to the club trailer. I am looking for a new design and participants just need to submit their design to the club committee. The chosen design/designer will receive a free Mobile One oil change, and a Full Tank of Premium Fuel! Upon completion of the new wrap, I am also going to put a new set of upgraded wheels on the trailer as well! I would like to complete this as soon as possible. I look forward to a long relationship with the club! So sit back, buckle up, and enjoy the ride! 3 From Our President This is always a sad time for all of us. Especially moi. This past week I nearly finished taking down the 20,000+ Christmas lights that brings so much joy to everyone. Even though it's a lot of work, like everyone else I love the flashing lights and music. Just hate having to take them down. It's sad knowing that everyone on the east coast is buried in snow wishing they could even drive let alone get their Corvettes out. It's also sad that our cars are all tucked away and out of the snow, ice and cold. Our cars are feeling sad and neglected because we're ignoring them. If you went out to the garage and looked at your corvette just sitting there it would bring tears to your eyes. Idea! Lets look out the window. Hmmmm! Pretty blue sky and sunshine. Hmmmm. Lets bring up the weather station and see what the temp is That's close to 40. Hmmmm. Let's take the girl out for a drive. As I crawled in I was reminded of my fresh paint job. You can still smell it after three months. Stick the key in. Turn it. Hmmmm. No lights. That's not good. Turn the key anyway. Nothing. That's not good. Just when I thought my problem with the phantom current draw had been solved I just learned that I was wrong. Well that's why I keep the battery charger right next to the car and on the side of the battery no less. Open hood. My god. You would have thought the paint shop would have done a better job of protecting for overspray of the paint. You get what you pay for I guess. I'll worry about that later. So while the battery is charging I'll eat lunch. Be right back! Hmmm. Lunch was good. If you like grilled cheese sandwiches and rice soup. Let's fire her up. Ahhh! The instrument panel lights are on when the key is on. That's a good sign. Turn key. How do you write a word or phrase that describes an engine sound that just grinds. Even google couldn't find it. Oh. Now it's click, click, clicking. Well we all know what that sound means. Still not enough juice. Put the charger back on and jump it. Roooommmm, Rooommmm. Oh but it sounds so good to hear that sound again. Let's go. Try the brakes. Hmmmmm. Doesn't seem to want to stop. Pump um up. That's better. Oops. Watch that puddle. Watch that loose gravel around that new road patch job they did a little while ago. Hello Mr State Policeman. Only 50. Whew! That's a good speed to pass him at. What' he doing out here in the boondocks? Glad I was still letting her warm up. Let's put the heat on. What? No heat. Maybe I should have tried the heater before I bought it. Oops. Should have went to the bathroom before I left. Let's go back home for a minute. Ahhhh. Better grab that new insurance certificate and registration while I'm here in case we find Mr State Policeman again. Let's go for another drive because that wasn't enough to get her warmed up. Oh but it hits 70 fast. Let's check out Sleepy Hollow State park. Oops. Too much water on the park entrance road. Turn around time. Let's go up to 127 and whiz back. Wow. Hits 80 pretty fast. Let's turn around. I didn't want to go to 127 anyway. Let's pretend we're at Martin Speedway. Blue, Yellow, Green! Oh hit's 75 as fast as 80. School bus better slow down. Stop for school bus. Pass school bus. Well. Hello again same Mr State Policeman. I just saw you 15 minutes ago. Are you looking for me or what? I'll bet you wish you were here 3 minutes ago. Whew! That was close. Maybe he was visiting the park ranger. Let's go home instead of pushing my luck. Ah! Tucked away in my nice warm garage again. Thank You Dave for the nice ride. Eat your hearts out. Your CCCC President. Dave Pursel February 2016
