3 3 LAST WEEK THREE MINUTE SPEAKER - Andrew Harris When all else fails tell a joke, always on form Rotarian Andrew filled in while technology caught up. Now let s get this show on the Road The message was clear: We are Rotary. We make a difference. GUEST SPEAKER - Carol Hall By Tara Huckle - Carol Hall gave us a speedy summary of her recent trip to Europe accompanied by photographs and a map. Evidence: Look at what we have achieved in the fight to eradicate Polio! (Andrews presentation is attached) The challenge; What are we as Rotary Club going to make a difference to in our future? Put your thinking caps on! Her first stopover was in Dubai where she did four bus tours and took great photos of the amazing architecture. It was interesting to note that every hotel room has an arrow pointing to Mecca on the ceiling. From there she visited

4 London where she stayed with the late Sheila Copas' daughter. Sheila's husband Don Copas was a member of our club.

Carol was glad to leave, although she did enjoy the only warm thing there which was the Blue Lagoon spa.

Whilst visiting Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm she viewed the Danish royal yacht, the Kon Tiki and the Swedish royal yacht

in a Dowager's House full of stuffed animal trophies, attended Highland Games and enjoyed the complimentary Overseas

Hogwarts School, and where she visited the ex- Royal yacht Britannia.

Next stop was Iceland where the welcome was icy, and The jewel in Carol's trip was Talin in Estonia because of the warm and

4 4 London where she stayed with the late Sheila Copas' daughter. Sheila's husband Don Copas was a member of our club. After London Carol spent time in Scotland where she stayed everything was pricey. Carol was glad to leave, although she did enjoy the only warm thing there which was the Blue Lagoon spa. She moved happily on to a tour of Scandinavia with her two sisters from the USA. Whilst visiting Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm she viewed the Danish royal yacht, the Kon Tiki and the Swedish royal yacht and she had a great time with her family. in a Dowager's House full of stuffed animal trophies, attended Highland Games and enjoyed the complimentary Overseas Visitor's tent there (complete with bar facilities), and visited Edinburgh where many of the buildings were reminiscent of Hogwarts School, and where she visited the ex- Royal yacht Britannia. One of the highlights of Scotland for Carol was the discovery of the soft drink Irn-Bru - great for hangovers. Next stop was Iceland where the welcome was icy, and The jewel in Carol's trip was Talin in Estonia because of the warm and friendly people and the wonderful architecture. Carol also visited Riga in Latvia and Vilnius in Lithuania and stayed in an antique apartment in Krakow, Poland. Each place has wonderful architecture. Carol's last stop was Croatia where she stayed with a friend from her Peace Corps days on his winery which he owns and runs. She had a great time. Thank you, Carol, for an entertaining lesson geography lesson!

The theme is Christmas be it as formal or semi casual as you like; we re all amongst friends so have some fun and dress it up black and white or bold and bright! 5.30pm for a 6.30pm start.

The umbrella was a commentary on a tour guides quality of comentating. NEED TO KNOW CHRISTMAS 2018 Monday 17th December Christmas Party at Ormlie Lodge Ball Room. The theme is Christmas be it as formal or semi casual as you like; we re all amongst friends so have some fun and dress it up black and white or bold and bright! 5.30pm for a 6.30pm start. We can decorate the ball room up on Sunday prior so be prepared to come along with some decorations. Cost $30 for weekly payers and $50 for monthly payers and all partners and guests.
