He attended Melbourne Grammar School where he was an average student and he enjoyed playing various sports such as cricket and football at which he was not particularly good. At the age of 15, Tony was given a small yacht (Mirror dingy) for Christmas and after sailing it for a couple of days said he wanted to race it. This was the start of a life time of sailing based mainly at Mount Martha where he is still a member. Tony has owned and raced in Mirrors, Fireballs, 420s, Lasers and Sabres and still enjoys anything to do with water when he gets a chance. Carla and Tony have four children who all have 1 or more University Degrees, Raquel (42) who is a physiotherapist, Peta (40) who works in IT, Anita (32) who is a Podiatrist and Roger (30) who runs an environmental business (including bat surveys) in the UK. They have six grandchildren. As a family Tony and Carla and their children have spent many years camping in an old campervan at places such as Eildon, The Grampians, Cape Patterson, Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour and enjoy bush walking when they are not at the beach. Travelling has been a passion for Tony and Carla over many years. They have travelled to many places around the world and will continue to do so in the coming years. Having recently purchased a new caravan they plan to do some extensive travelling around Australia when Rotary permits. Tony and Carla have just sold their Hobby Farm (Thimble Farm) where they have enjoyed many hours working outside which was a good relief following a busy working week in an office. His tractor is his Boys Toy and he has enjoyed doing things around their property. Having "retired" last year they have decided to move to Mount Martha to a smaller allotment where they can enjoy all that the beach has to offer and travel when and where they can.

He later joined GE Plastics in the mid 1980's where he was exposed to the automotive industry.

2 Tony joined Nylex, in 1972 as a cadet executive having done a business studies course in data processing. Nylex was the leading plastics firm of the time and Tony worked there for 13 years in various sales and marketing roles. He later joined GE Plastics in the mid 1980's where he was exposed to the automotive industry. For the last 19 years, Tony was employed as the Marketing Development Manager of PolyPacific, which is the largest supplier of plastic raw material into the Australian automotive industry. Rotary is an obvious passion for Tony, which has been detailed in the District Directory. This has been, and continues to be, a major interest and Tony hopes to continue his Rotary involvement for the rest of his life. (This is not the official biography but a more personal account of Tony written in response to a request from David Crouch, so we might know the Tony a little better by the time of his visit. Ed.) St John Ambulance Australia is a charity that has served the Victorian community since 1883 through the deployment of First Aid trained volunteers at major events and disasters.

Bridge collapse, the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires, the Burnley Tunnel disaster or the recent Victorian floods, the community has grown up to rely upon St John always being there in times of need.

St John Ambulance Australia is a charity that has served the Victorian community since 1883 through the deployment of First Aid trained volunteers at major events and disasters. Whether it be international events like the Commonwealth Games in 2006, the F1 Grand Prix, blockbuster games at the MCG, AAMI Park and Etihad Stadium or in times of disaster such as the Westgate Bridge collapse, the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires, the Burnley Tunnel disaster or the recent Victorian floods, the community has grown up to rely upon St John always being there in times of need. St John is a Federation made up of eight independent State and Territory entities. At St John we save lives through first aid and our vision in Victoria is for at least one person educated, equipped and prepared to provide First Aid in every home, workplace and public gathering. As an independent not for profit organisation and registered charity, St John is not part of any government agency or authority. As a result we generate the revenues needed to support our community services through our business activities of first aid training, kits and consumables along with fundraising activities through the public, philanthropic trusts and foundations and generous individual and corporate donors. He then recorded his appreciation of the work of Christine, David and Tony lent to the most successful night at the gallery. Lyndon reminded members that next week s meeting with the DG was a partner s night. Sufficient help was in place for Lap the Lakes on the 29 th of October and a framework for the future success of the project was well advanced. In a letter to the club Megan Osmond, our successful Summer Science School student, expressed her appreciation of Rotary support, and sought member support for her attendance at the orientation day at Monash University. The district forum for the 28 th was cancelled but the event on the 14 th was extant. Noel on his 87 th birthday
