We will be looking at providing the District Governor with input on the Club Quality Initiative. At the next Advisory meeting, we will have a meaningful discussion on Centennial Project Ideas. I hope that as a Zone, we will have made a decision on how we are to proceed Zone Chair - Brian Morin and have some reports from individual clubs on Club Centennial Legacy projects I m not sure I really established a theme for this year. I kind of like last year's which was Team- District Cabinet and Zone I-2 Meeting Schedules: District Cabinet Meetings Second Cabinet Meeting: 6 Nov: White Spot Restaurant, 2299 Cliffe 10:30 am Third Cabinet Meeting: 5 Mar: Willow 10:30 am Zone I-2 Advisory Meetings Second Zone Meeting: 27 Nov: Public Service Legion 127, 514Government 10 am Third Zone meeting: 12 Langford Legion work and Communication. During this Centennial Lions year we need to work together to leave an impact on our community through a Centennial legacy project and public display of unity. As you may now know, I found it necessary to cancel the bus for the Spokane Convention due to a lack of sufficient numbers to fill the bus. Hopefully, alternate means of transport will be available. 3 Multiple District 19 Convention October 20 to 22, 2016 October 20 Registration Opening Session 7:30 pm Trip to Spokane for Fall Convention Regrettably, it was necessary to cancel the Bus to Spokane. We could not get sufficient numbers to make the trip on a bus work. For those of you who are still attending: See you in Spokane! Esquimalt Splash Park Lions Water Fountain In addition to the Esquimalt Lions Club s Centennial Challenge initiative to provide a $50,000 contribution towards the establishment of a community splash park in the municipality of Esquimalt, they have now donated a Lion Water Fountain for use by the children and parents using the park. The fountain is available through LCI at a cost of approximately $8,000 after shipping. 7 FUN TRIVIA NIGHT FUNDRAISER The Canadian Federation of the Blind is hosting a fun Trivia evening at Norway House, 1110 Hillside Avenue, on November 5, 2016 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Everyone is welcome! Enjoy a wonderful evening of team work. Teams of eight people work collectively to win the most points. There will be prizes awarded for first, second and third table placements. The data is based on service projects reported to LCI through Service Activity Reports (SAR) submitted since July 2014 as part of the Centennial Service Challenge. Zone I-2 Informer This is your newsletter. It is intended to inform your club of upcoming events and what is happening in your zone. This Newsletter is only as good as you help make it. Please send us your news and pictures and anything that you would like to get out to the Lions community. me at the address below. PZC Gerry Webb Esquimalt Lions Club Editor Centennial Service Projects to meet the Challenge GET RECOGNIZED In recognition and appreciation of your service LCI will: feature your club on the Centennial Service Ticker when you report qualifying Centennial Service Challenge projects through MyLCI s Service Activity Report. Your club will receive one banner patch for each year of reported participation. Every club should be able to complete a service project in all four areas of the Centennial Challenge of Youth, Environment, Hunger and Vision As your club builds its budget for next year plan Consider projects and expenditures that target the Centennial Service Challenge goals. The project need not be large to meet the Challenge.
