4 IV Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano INFANT BAPTISMAL MINISTRY Is hospitality your gift? Do you like to help people feel comfortable and welcomed? Then the infant baptismal ministry is a perfect opportunity to exercise your gift in our community of young parents. Join our baptismal team of 3-4 people assisting our deacon and priests with the baptism of infants. Two teams alternate every other month on third Sunday (you would be helping only 5 times a year) from 2:15 to 4:00 PM in the basilica. Some of the tasks include greeting the parents, godparents, family and friends, assisting them as they find their place in the pews, filling the font with water, lighting candles, setting out the oils, distributing baptismal candles, certificates, garments, making announcements, proclaiming the reading, preparing the area by the baptismal font, assisting the deacon during the baptismal rite. Greg Boyle Mission Hospital Spiritual Care Volunteer Training Mission Hospital is offering a training program for Spiritual Care Volunteers for both the Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach Campuses to begin Wednesday, September 13, The training consists of 10 classes in which you will develop skills for visiting patients. Applicants must be adults of generosity and compassion, plus understand spirituality as a necessary element of patient care. Spiritual Care Volunteers will be asked to devote a minimum of 100 hours annually to patient visits. After you complete the application, please it to the address provided on the website under Spiritual Care. After your application is received, you will be notified to come in for an interview. Visit the Sick As a baptized Christian, visiting the sick is one of our corporal works of mercy. A number of people in our parish are already Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick and Homebound and are visiting the many people of our parish who are not able to attend mass each week. They bring Holy Communion and spend some time in prayer with them. Yet, we need more people to fulfill this ministry demand. If you have a desire to be of service to those who are homebound, please contact Eileen at or esmith@missionparish.org. Qualifications of an EMHC to the sick and homebound are: (a) practicing Catholic, (b) have completed all Sacraments of Initiation, (c) safe environment trained. The students had a wonderful time learning about animal camouﬂage, classiﬁcations, adaptations and habitats. It was a fun ﬁlled educational day! Now Enrolling age 2 to grade 8. PREGUNTA DE REFLEXION DE LA SEMANA La Santísima Trinad 11 de junio de 2017 Ciclo A Éxodo 34:4b-6, Corintios 13:11-13 Juan 3:16-18 Tema: Un solo Señor, una sola fe, un solo Bautismo, un solo Dios y Padre MENSAJE DE LA SEMANA: Si hemos vivido un poco la liturgia de estos meses, recordaremos que se nos ha hablado del PADRE, del HIJO, y también del ESPÍRITU SANTO. Continuamente han sido nombrados. En la fiesta de hoy los contemplamos a los tres JUNTOS: es la fiesta de la TRINIDAD. Esto es: la fiesta de DIOS-COMUNIDAD. Éste es el significado de este día. Algunos dirán: es un gran misterio. Otros podemos afirmar: Sí, es un MISTERIO DE AMOR. Dios es así y así se nos manifiesta: es un Dios fiel, a pesar de la infidelidad de su pueblo; es un Dios cercano al pueblo, aunque éste se aleje de Él; es un Dios al que nosotros podemos llamar PADRE y nos ha hecho hijos adoptivos. Es difícil creer en DIOS-TRINIDAD? Es difícil entenderle? Tanto como aceptar que DIOS es AMOR y que quien ama, sabe mucho de Dios y quien no ama (aunque lo diga) sabe poco de Dios. DICHOSO quien cree en el DIOS-AMOR, porque tendrá luz en su vida! TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE En Uruguay se celebra la fiesta patronal más grande durante el mes de junio. Celebran a san Cono, un santo italiano del siglo doce. En el siglo diecinueve los inmigrantes italianos que vivían en Uruguay deseaban tener una capilla para honrar la memoria de este santo, oriundo de la provincia de Salerno, Italia. En junio de 1885, las campanas de una modesta capillita anunciaron el recibimiento de una imagen de san Cono que llegó en procesión. Desde entonces esta costumbre italiana se fue haciendo parte integral de la devoción cristiana en Uruguay. Cono fue el hijo único de una pareja anciana que vivía en la ciudad de Teggiano, Salerno. Según la leyenda, una noche mientras dormían, esta pareja soñó un cono de luz que brotaba de la madre. Al nacer el niño decidieron llamarlo Cono. Desde muy niño, Cono mostró un afán por las cosas de Dios y a los dieciséis años ingresó a un monasterio benedictino siguiendo el consejo de una voz interior que lo invitaba a consagrase al Señor. PROCESION SOLEMNE EL DOMINGO 18 DE JUNIO -Solemnidad de Corpus Christi El domingo de la santísima Trinidad, la Iglesia celebra la solemnidad del santísimo Cuerpo y Sangre del Señor. La procesión de la solemnidad del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo significa prolongar la celebración de la Eucaristía. Antes de la Misa, la Hostia consagrada se conduce fuera de la iglesia para que el pueblo cristiano "dé un testimonio público de fe y de veneración al Santísimo Sacramento". 12 XII DESPEDIDA DE PADRE ROBERT El próximo domingo, 18 de junio, les invitamos al gimnasio después de misa de la 1pm a darle la despedida a nuestro querido Padre Robert. Esta será su ultima misa de domingo, y nos encetaría que nos acompañaran a compartir un rato con él en comunidad. Grupo de Renovación Carismática Los esperamos en el Salón D del Centro Pastoral de 7:00pm a 9:00pm. Se reúnen todos los primer y tercer sábados del mes. Varias personas de nuestra parroquia que ya son Ministros Extraordinarios de la Eucaristía para los Enfermos de nuestra comunidad que no pueden asistir a misa cada semana. Ellos llevan la Santa Comunión y pasan un tiempo en oración con ellos. Sin embargo necesitamos mas personas para poder cumplir con la demanda de este ministerio.
