Attendance was down this year but no one let it bother them. Chapter B was well represented with 50 members in attendance during the weekend. Jim Fish, who will be joining Chapter B at our next meeting, stopped by the campsite for a while. We were sorry we were unable to meet his mother, Jane, who was ill. The rally was the first for Randy & Linda Porter and Paul & Marge Breitigam. We noticed Paul & Marge with several bags in their arms and we are sure the vendors were appreciative. Much of the day was spent around the campers and two tents where we were entertained by Joe Woodmansee and his story of how he came to buy his new bike from All Seasons and by Bob Blackford with his story of "five bucks." Friday night's entertainment was by Adam Calvert, a young man who just signed a recording contract in Nashville. If he ever becomes famous, Lucy Kennedy, Dodie Brickley and Debbe can say they knew him when as he came into the audience, took their hands and briefly sang to each one of them. We had the honor of being named Senior Directors at opening ceremonies. The designation of Senior Director is meant to honor chapter directors for their accomplishments while chapter directors as well as other factors. Chapter B has had other senior directors: Jim and Carol Culler and Ted & Joyce Strutz. We are truly honored to have been chosen to receive this designation. On behalf of Chapter B, we would like to thank Robert & Angela Williams and their team who worked so hard to put together a great rally for all of us to enjoy. Members sometimes forget how small the state team really is and how much work those few people do to put on a rally for all of us.

2 ASS T CHAPTER DIRECTORS JOE & JACKIE Today is the first full day of summer. It seems like it took forever to get here but we welcome nice riding weather anytime. The Buckeye Rally was last weekend and it got expensive for Jackie and me. We went with Larry and Cheryl Moore to All Seasons showroom to cool off in the air conditioning and buy some rubber washers for the bike. We left the with a newer bike than what we had. We traded our 2002 Goldwing for a black 2006 Goldwing with 3600 miles on it. The way I see it the two rubber washers were very expensive. We look forward to many enjoyable miles riding with our friends and family. Upcoming events are the Relay for Life, Wing Ding and the $5.00 Picnic Ride. As always we look forward to having all members join in the fun. We want to wish the members that are traveling out of state over the next several weeks to have an enjoyable and safe trip. Enjoy riding and we will see you down the road. Ride hard and have fun Joe and Jackie RIDE COORDINATORS LARRY & DEBBE STEINHILBER We will be having another $5.00 picnic ride on July 16. For those members who have never been on one of these rides, we will take a ride somewhere stopping at a grocery store along the way where each couple will draw a slip out of a paper bag and then go into the store and buy $5 worth of whatever is listed on the slip. We will then ride to a place where we will put all our food together and have a picnic. Details will be given to everyone soon. After our gathering on July 17, we will be riding to Wakeman Restaurant in Wakeman, Ohio. Jerry Eldridge and Nancy Lantz are working on a route for us. July 22 will find us making and selling sandwiches at the Shiloh ox roast from 8 to 10 pm. We always have a good time and can use all the help we can get. The more help we get the more Shiloh firemen and women can be relieved to go home after a long day of work. We will ride in the parade the next night, July 23. Lineup will begin at 6 pm and we will find out where to lineup later. Be sure to mark your calendars for July 31 for Chapter I's teddy bear ride. More details will be announced at our July Meeting. SATURDAY, JULY 2 ND ONTARIO- Just a reminder we will be riding in the Fourth of July parade in Ontario Lineup starts at 3:15 with the parade to start at 4:15. If you are there by 3:45 pm it should be okay. We are unit number 11. Lineup will be in Marshall Park off Rock Rd. Someone will be in the park to tell you where to go. SATURDAY, JULY 9TH - Shelby Bicycle Days parade. Lineup will begin at 12:30 pm on Grand Blvd. SATURDAY, JULY 30 TH - Ladies Night Out. More details to come at the July gathering

3 SENIOR CHAPTER EDUCATORS TED & JOYCE STRUTZ Hi Guys; A few months ago I did an article on cute names for some of the things we run into in daily life while on our motorcycles. The same author that did those has posted some more and I figured I would pass these along also. They are good for a chuckle and hopefully will also reinforce some things in our mind for safe riding. BRO DEPENDENCY: Doing what your riding buddies do just because they re doing it. When riders stop thinking for themselves when riding in a group, they are placing too much trust in their fellow riders for their own good. Being Bro Dependent places you at greater risk. Think for yourself and ride your own ride. GRAVELTATIONAL FORCE: The powerful force that seems to pull a rider directly toward a patch of gravel found in the middle of a blind curve. Conversely, some riders find that the graveltational effect actually pushes them and their motorcycles away from the gravel and toward the road s edge or oncoming traffic. FENDER BLENDER: Following the car ahead of you so closely there s no room let for adequate reaction times. With no time and no escape route a rider is left with reduced visibility, few options, and significantly heightened risk. FATAL EXTRACTION: Getting one s self out of a dangerous situation just in time to avoid tragedy. This is not always an available option. Riders are encouraged, instead, to do all they can to stay out of trouble in the first place. If they don t, they could have an Auto Body Experience. HEMORRHIDE: An extended ride with excessive time in the saddle without a break. Insisting on continuing on a hemorrhide can lead to distracting discomfort and could affect a rider s concentration and ability to respond effectively to situational conditions. SLOP SIGN: An intersection with a stop sign at which a rider or motorist rolls through without coming to a complete stop. This could also be called a Stoptional intersection. ERECT-STYLE DYSFUNTION: Riding a motorcycle with a flexed, vertical riding position with stiff back and arms outstretched and tense. This uptight riding style severely limits the rider s ability to function smoothly or be sensitive to input through the handlebars, pegs, and seat. The rider should have a light, relaxed touch on the bars, elbows hanging loosely, and enough back flexibility to allow the rider to roll body weight smoothly from hip to hip. A CHANGE-of-HEART ATTACK: What an unsuspecting rider might have when another vehicle suddenly darts in a direction other than anticipated when its driver suddenly change his or her mind. 4 NEWSLETTER EDITORS JIM & CAROL Summer is definitely here!! We have been on a few good rides including the Buckeye Rally in Wooster. We had quite a turnout from our Chapter and had a great time as usual. As Joe wrote in his article, he and Jackie went to All Seasons to pick up a couple of grommets and came back with an almost new, shiny black Goldwing. He told us he was trying to decide between buying a new seat for his old one or buying the whole bike. I guess, we know which one won out. We just purchased a dark cherry 2004 Gold Wing and Escapade Trailer from Chapter V s member Dan Bryant. However, this is the first bike we have purchased in 28 years. We still have the Old Girl, just couldn t part with her. (Bike.not Carol). Some of the members entered the bike show at the Rally as a participation event. Ralph Rand won 1 st Place in his class, we won 1 st place in stock w/trailer and Steve Main won 1 st place in his class. Also, Steve s Bike was chosen for the Best of Show. Quite an honor! Congratulations, Steve. The Chapter participated again in the Relay for Life at the Malabar School in Mansfield. Even with the threatening weather, we had approximately 11 bikes show up. Afterwards, a few of us went to Denny s for dessert. Where, this time, we behaved ourselves. Wing Ding in Knoxville, Tennessee is coming up soon. We have some members leaving this Sunday morning, some leaving next Tuesday morning and some have already left. We re looking forward to the great riding that is in that area. We have approximately 12 couples going from Chapter B. I m sure we ll all have a great time. Here is a picture of Jim with his new wife. OOPS! I mean new bike. 6 MEMBERSHIP ENHANCEMENT-Debbe Steinhilber For a chapter to be successful it must have a good leadership team. Chapter B has been fortunate over the years to have a good leadership team and we want to make sure it continues with Joe when we step down at the end of October but Joe won't be able to do it alone. He will need a couple willing to take on the duties of Assistant Chapter Director with the intent of taking over for Joe & Jackie when their term ends. He will also need a Motorists Awareness Officer and a Ride Coordinator. We have taken in quite a few new members over the past two years and it would be nice to see one of the newer members step forward and volunteer to take one of the positions. The Ride Coordinator job could be shared by several individuals. Perhaps we have some older members who would like to get back in "the middle of things." If you are interested in any of the positions, give Joe a call. SUNSHINE LADY SUE MCAVOY Wow! What a summer. It sure is going fast! We had a great time at Buckeye Rally. Some wind and rain on Thursday, but no damage. Fun, food, and friends. Doesn't get any better than that! Chet and Karen Zellner, Jerry and Barb Kirkpatrick are traveling west for a few weeks. Wish them a great and safe trip. Some are headed to Wing Ding. Some are going around the lakes. Some are just riding. Rich Faeth should be getting home from his trip to Mexico this week. Hope he had good relaxing time. Hey, have fun, drive safe, and we will see you possibly at Wing Ding, a Supper Ride, a Parade or at the Meeting. We need to keep the following people in our prayers and thoughts: Helen Prosser- her mom passed away. Ralph Rand is in the hospital. Our prayers are with Susan Craig and Ralph Rand. Ralph had Aortic Aneurism Surgery Thursday, June 23 rd. He is in Intensive Care at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. I m sure he would appreciate your get well cards: Send to Ralph Rand, MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, and 335 Glessner Ave., Mansfield, Ohio 44903: Attention: Intensive Care Drive safe and enjoy Sue McAvoy Ted at Jolly Rogers. Ted and Joyce went for an impromptu ride to Port Clinton and they ended doing what we all do. Eating. Great way to start the summer riding
