1 Volume 40, #7 July, 2008 President s Message We had a busy past month with many different events. The economy run, Kansas Flint Hills tour, our 22 nd Annual Omaha Ford Show, Eat-out at Petrow s, Fremont swap meet, Limestone Days tour and the General Dodge house show. All were fun. Be sure to note the great events coming up. Your participation makes each event fun and interesting. Well summer is definitely upon us. I hope those that had storm damage have gotten their homes and lives back to normal. By the time that you get this message, the 4 th of July will have come and gone. I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend. One particular coming event that I want to call your attention to is Thursday July 24 th 6 to 9pm. That is the Car show display at the Seldin shopping centers on west Center road 123 rd to 126 th street. The Seldin Company is celebrating their many years of business at that location. They have invited our club to celebrate with them. Look at the events we have coming up and plan to take part in the fun and festivities. 5 Limestone Days in Weeping Water and the B-17 at the Plattsmouth Airport Tour. Limestone Days celebrates the history of Weeping Water. We had lots of fun including a tour of a Limestone mine, parade, Antique shops and visit to a real old fashion hardware store still in operation. Then it was on to the Plattsmouth Airport to see a restored World War II B-17 bomber. Of course, on the way we stopped in Murray to have a great lunch at the English Rose. Those of you that have ever been on Meadowlark Tours know that plenty of good food and a lot of fun are two of the major ingredients (in that order of importance). At the Airport we got to see a part of World War II history The Flying Fortress B-17 Bomber. At the time this was the largest plane in the world decked out with caliber machine guns and a payload of 20 bombs. Thanks to the guys that flew in these machines and Thanks to all of the men and women in our armed forces, past and present, we get to celebrate and enjoy our freedoms every day. 5
