A Note from Chapter "E" Directors Good day to you all... Hope this finds everyone being able to get out and ride during these nice days!! We have some great weather and rides lately. Numerous members, friends and family attended the Summer Rally from Aug Had a great time and several of us won some nice gifts from the drawings!!! On August 11 we had another successful Chapter Yard Sale. The proceeds will be split equally between Relay for Life and Juvenile Diabetes. A lot of long, tiring hours were spent sorting and setting up but it was rewarding just seeing some of the mom's and kids smiles as they chose clothes, shoes, etc. for school. Makes your heart swell just knowing that someone truly needs things and they only donate what they can. If someone comes up with a huge bag full of clothes and gives $2 then that's awesome to us! It helps some people in need, Relay for Life and Juvenile Diabetes Assoc.!!!! Jerry Rondi led a group to Little Nashville for lunch on the Mystery Ride on Aug. 19th. There were 15 members on 9 bikes. Afterwards getting ice cream was a must lol. We are gearing up Sat. Aug. 25th for a breakfast ride to Pere Marquette if rain stays away!!! Several upcoming rides and events will be, a picnic ride, lunch ride to Fine Swine BBQ in New Baden, Ronald McDonald Ride, Sothern Illinois Ride-In, Antique Hill Climb, Old Settlers Days, Essen Bonfire and several others that are in the works... No matter if you re going to a big event or just a ride to eat, please check your bike and tires out, and your riding gear before ever starting up your motorcycle. 3 A note from the Chapter MEC Hello GWRRA members, I'm writing this newsletter early, because Bill and I will be leaving for our first Wing- Ding. I can't wait to go. I'm almost packed up! Bill Morgan, how much room do we have in the trailer? LOL. Our summer Rally was a great time! Litchfield Rocks! Virgil and Connie did a lot of volunteer work to get 51 sponsors for the summer rally. With kind words and patience, they final got WAM Computers and SAM4sewing as Sponsors. Bill and I are happy to be a part of the Litchfield summer Rally. GREAT NEWS to share: We have two new members. Welcome to GWRRA Chapter E- "Trailduster" Jack and Gloria Newingham - from Patterson, Illinois. The month of August had some fun rides for everyone to participate. I know some of us couldn't make all of the rides. We missed the fun, but that's okay... family first. Can't wait to hear all about it at our September social meeting and maybe see some fun picture people took. We have so much fun at our social meetings. We find laughter in everything we do...lol. In the month of September, Chapter E has some Fun rides schedule. They are, a picnic ride, Lunch ride, Ronald McDonalds ride. Be sure to check out our chapter E website: for details, and changes that have been made during this month. Also, be sure to check-out the Chapter Q -"The Southern Illinois ride-in." It's at the DuQuoin Illinois at the fairground, September (Thursday - Sunday). It's all about bike guided rides, meeting new people, games, bike game, relaxing at the campground, and food. Come join the Fun if you are able to. Even if it's just for a day. Also, another way to find information is our Chapter" E " Facebook page: GWRRA Illinois"E"- Traildusters. What a great way to keep us informed of fun activities going on so others chapters can joins us if they are in the area. 4 Past events: July 20 th 22 nd was our ride to Lake of the Ozarks. 17 from the chapter went on this weekend ride. There was riding, shopping and shows. It was a new hotel this year that was very welcoming of our group. The hotel promised us special rates if we stay there in the future. Chapter E headed for Osage Beach One of the ferry crossings at the Summer Rally lunch ride July 27 th was our midnight ride. We had a good turnout this year with 22 people on 11 bikes including 4 people from Chapter O. The weather was great and the sky was clear for the full moon. August 2 nd 4 th was the Illinois District Summer rally held in Litchfield this year. Connie and Virgil worked very hard and got 51 local sponsors do donate prizes and other items for the rally. Bill from our chapter led one of the lunch rides to Finn Inn in Grafton, and had 2 ferry crossings before returning to Niehaus. 5 Future events: August 25 th we will have a breakfast ride to Pere Marquette leaving from Casey s in Gillespie at 8:00 a.m. and Casey s on route 16 in Jerseyville at 8:45 a.m. August 28 th September 1 st is Wing-Ding in Knoxville, Tn. You can get more information at Septembers 8 th we will have a picnic ride meeting at Beaver Dam state park at 1 p.m. Bring a dish to share. When you go in, follow the signs to the picnic area. Septembers 13 th is our monthly social. We will meet at Miners restaurant in Gillespie. Eat at 5:30 p.m., the meeting will start at 7. Septembers 15 th we will have lunch ride to Fine Swine BBQ in New Baden. More details at the September meeting. Septembers 16 th we will be the Ronald McDonald ride in Springfield. More details at the September meeting. September 20 th 22 nd is the southern Illinois Ride-in. Registration is $10. This is a fun packed weekend with dinner, breakfast, wingo, dirty bingo, people games, bikes games and lots of rides.
