3 Meeting notes SCMTC February 24 th 2016 The meeting was called to order by President Pat Ehlers at 7:30 pm. Guests present were: Sandra Moscarelli, guest of Milt Webb, and Brad Lusk, prospective member and owner of a 1915 Model T. The Secretaries report was approved as published in the Bands. Treasurer John Saylor was on vacation. Pat read the report that John sent by . Income slightly exceeded expenses for the month. Kate Bandy, our Vice President and Tour Director, reported that: The Mother Lode Club Shakedown Tour is April 2. We will join the tour 9:00 am at the El Dorado Town Center at the intersection of Rt. 50 and Latrobe Road. Lunch at Clarks Corner is $12 per person, payable to Kate. The route will go through Ione and visit the Sanders Aeronautics Restoration Service, which restores warbird and vintage aircraft for clients around the world. Ten cars from our club are signed up for the tour. The Awful Waffle for April has been canceled due to scheduling problems, but there will be an Awful Waffle in May (date to be announced). May 1 brings the Fair Oaks Fiesta Classic Car show; nine members have signed up to attend. If you are interested register on the internet by May 1 for the lowest cost. The internet address is < We will meet at the Bandys' house and caravan to the show. Details at the April meeting. May is Dave Pava's two-day tour. Details of the tour, along with a registration form, appear elsewhere in the Bands. This promises to be a great tour, with 5 clubs and as many as 50 cars participating. Sign up by May 14; the tour is filling up fast. May 30 is the North Highlands Memorial Day Parade. June 5 is the Auburn Swap Meet. June 11 through 13 is the Riverside Swap Meet. September 10 is the CAM Cruise. John Saylor is organizing a tour to Bridgeport October 15. The Bridgeport Covered Bridge is the longest surviving clear span covered bridge in the world. Harvey Bandy brought us up to date on the Model T for the Blind project. Rod Lewis of Modesto found us through our web site maintained by John Saylor. His deceased father had restored a Model T and Model A and had a large treasure trove of parts which Rod has donated to our club. Harvey and Steve Rowe are getting the parts ready to sell at the Auburn Swap Meet June 5th. They need club volunteers at the meet to help with the booth (unloaders, sellers, shills). The proceeds will be used to help finance the Model T for the Blind. This sale has the potential to make a lot of money for the project. We have gone through 3 donated engines so far and still need a good block to recondition. Warren Berg said he has several and maybe one of them will work. Harvey will follow up with Warren. Jean Lanham, our Sunshine Lady, reported that she had heard that Murray Work is laid up with a relapse of lymphoma. She also sent cards to a couple of members who have not been at meetings lately. The meeting place and room set-up were discussed. We decided to try a different seating arrangement and continue to meet at the Athletic Club. Suggestions were also made that we explore meeting at a car dealership or restaurant eg. Sizzler, Denny s, or Round Table Pizza. Kate encouraged members to contact such places to find out availability, and costs. Mac Weir and some of his hangar friends are exploring having a Hot Rod/Model A/Model T Shine and Show car display at the old Elk Grove airport. He asked if the club would like to participate. There was interest in the affair. The date is not finalized, but June 15 or 30 are being considered. The 50/50 was won by Jean: a whopping $30. Six cars are signed up for the National Tour in Albuquerque June 26-July 1. Meeting adjourned 8:17pm. Refreshments were furnished by Donna and Warren Berg Next meeting is April 27.
