1 SOL NEWS UPDATE JUNE 2015 Welcome to our June edition of the Sol News Update. Sol Barbados: Sol Rally Barbados a Success! We showed our support of motorsports in a big way at Sol Rally Barbados With fans, participants and press flocking to the event, it was definitely a weekend to remember! The action began at the Bushy Park racing circuit on the weekend of May We watched the best local, regional and international drivers test their skills on the track, and were happy to congratulate the Jamaican team of Jeffery Panton and co-driver Mike Fennell for securing the title. Our Sol Racing Team member, Roger The Sheriff Skeete, also got special mention for coming out on top in the LIME King of the Hill, another popular race of the Sol Rally Barbados festivities. Fans were able to meet The Sheriff and his Sol Rally Team members at our special Rally Nation limes in the weeks leading up to the event. The Sol Mill, Bushy Park Friday Night start Speaking at the Sol Rally Barbados closing ceremony, Ezra Prescod, General Manager to Sol Barbados, noted the company s pride in sponsoring the event for the eighth year in a row. Whether in the realm of sports development, economic growth or world-class event management, Sol Rally Barbados is winning on all fronts, said Prescod. This competition continues to grow and flourish, and is adding significant value to Barbados and the Caribbean. The Barbados Rally Club, who celebrated 25 years of operations this year, hosts Sol Rally Barbados. We renewed our partnership with the Club in January, and will be title sponsor of the event for another five years ( ). Some of the Sol Racing Team Machines

2 And the Sol Free Fuel for Life Winner is Grantley Thornhill, a self-employed taxi driver, is the proud winner of the Free Fuel for Life competition in Barbados. For Thornhill, It really doesn t get any better than winning Free Fuel for Life at your service station of choice! He graciously accepted his prize and expressed the positive impact it will make on his livelihood. Mr. Thornhill collected his prize along with his wife, Monica Thornhill, at the launch of Sol Rally Barbados 2015 at Bushy Park. In addition to the lucky grand prize winner, the promotion also saw a series of weekly winners who won BDS$1,000 in free fuel each week. Retail Fuels Marketing Manager, Lisbeth Cabrera expressed our pleasure at giving back to the Barbadian community who choose to go further with our brand. The Fuel for Life campaign was a fully integrated campaign, which launched on March 25, 2015 through multiple channels. The Sol Team presenting Free Fuel For Life Winner Grantley Thornhill with his prize Sol St. Lucia Supporting Education at Jazz Sol in St. Lucia was a major sponsor of the Jazz Education workshop, part of the recently concluded St. Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival. The workshop gave young St. Lucians a rare opportunity to learn from well-established musicians. This investment in St. Lucian jazz education provided us with the opportunity to contribute to the island s heritage and make a difference in the lives of the local secondary school children. We are happy that we made a significant contribution to the youth development in St. Lucia, and would like to congratulate the team on a job well done. The educational component of the St. Lucia Jazz and Arts festival included dance master classes, our focus was on the culinary workshop where we used the opportunity to promote Sol Gas. These sessions ran alongside the main festival, from May St. Lucia s GM, Lawrence McNaughton presents Director of Tourism Louis Lewis with a cheque Sol B s Service Station tops Sol Excellence Awards The Sol Excellence Group Retailer of the Year Award is made to the retailer with the highest Sol Excellence score. This retailer is the mover and shaker extraordinaire, the customer service guru, the one with the team who makes it happen at all times by going above and beyond to ensure an exceptional customer service experience. This year we wish to congratulate Mr. Lionel Benjamin and the team at B s Service Station in St. Kitts! Not only did this site have the highest overall average, but Mr. Benjamin was also ranked as a Gold retailer for three out of four quarters in our last financial year. Mr. Benjamin is often seen on the forecourt interacting with customers and values the input of his staff. He believes in his staff and trusts that they will do what is best for the station as they truly understand the business inside and out. 3 Sol welcomes Young Vibrant Interns (written by WOW Intern Angeline Catling) The Sol Group has taken eleven interns under its wing in the 2015 Student Internship Programme. The programme commenced on June 1 and will run for three months, culminating on August This internship gives students the opportunity to apply academia to real world business activities. It is a learning experience which moulds the interns into active citizens who engage in the development of the region. The interns are engaged in fields which compliment their areas of study. Joining Sol Barbados are Rhesa Alleyne, Kevin Earle and Ross Farley. Angeline Catling joins the Finance, HR and Marketing teams at Corporate whilst Hadiya Haynes joins the Corporate Finance team. Ria Phillips will work with the Corporate Legal team. The Corporate Operations team welcomes Alejandro Boxill, Keirra Boyce and Curtis Grazette and Karlquisha Sargeant and Romario Marshall have joined the Corporate Supply team. As part of the internship programme the eager Sol interns were given the opportunity to visit the oil tanker Henrietta PG during its call to Barbados. The interns were exposed to all aspects of the vessel s operations, including navigation, cargo sampling and operations and engine controls on the vessel. Sol and the vessel s quality control procedures, HSE guidelines and policies were also demonstrated and explained. The trip was aimed at providing insight to the operations behind the coordination and safe transportation of quality products throughout the region. The interns were able interact with the captain and crew and had the opportunity to ask many questions. The interns attached to the Supply department were especially enlightened by the trip as they got hands-on exposure they could apply during their internship at Sol. We wish them well during their journey to excellence! Dominican Republic hosts Sol Sales & Marketing Meeting The annual Sales and Marketing meeting recently took place in the Dominican Republic from June 9 th 11 th. Marketing teams from across the region gathered to discuss strategies, new products and technology, best practices and other topics which help us to maintain our edge, brand share of preference and innovativeness. This year our Brand License Managers from Shell and Esso were both present and participated in the break-out sessions for the different brands. As part of the meeting, there was the 5th staging of Sol Blue Carpet Awards. Companies and individuals were recognised for their stellar efforts this past financial year during the Baseball Hall of Fame themed event. Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Juan Marichal was on hand to greet guest during the cocktail. Congratulations to all those in winners row! 5 Sol Barbados Launches Shell Helix with PurePlus Technology Barbadian customers can now purchase Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology. The innovative technology of the product was revealed at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre by Sol Barbados. Jonathan Briceño, Shell Lubricants Cluster Marketing Manager for Latin America made a presentation to the specially invited guests and later the evening climaxed with the unveiling of a Scuderia Ferrari F1 Show Car.
