1 Numericanal WP3A9 Roll out of the Nautical safety applications and programmes 3-5 volunteers receiving training and trainers licence per partner region (3.3.1) 3 volunteer 1 day training per partner region (3.3.3) 5-10 people trained per training (3.3.4) Introduction All material we have for setting up a volunteers system was provided by CRT. This material was evaluated by a special working group volunteers and adapted to our standards. The system is based on the one of the Trust. All material for the Roll out in the partner Regions was made and provided to the partners in This material of the of the Education platform of WPA38 is now available to the public on the Numericanal website in the Education Platform and the Stakeholder platform.. The outline containing the information about safety on the water, a communication/promotion plan, policy and handbook for volunteers, brochures and leaflets, the safeguider and pogo app and other aditional information for boaters per country and a help desk. All material that is needed to set up a safe boating programme in a country or a region. The European Boating Association is now extending the number of safety zones in Europe. An organisation in Belgium has asked us to set up a safe boating program in Vlaanderen. This work wil mostly be done after the Numericanal project has ended. Information Page 1

2 Volunteer Training days We have organised two training events in the project period and the next one will be on the 5 th of september 2015 (after the project period and not included in this paper) we will continue doing this Volunteers Event (instruction and thank you event) on a yearly basis now. In the project period 25 volunteers trained for presentations (11 in Utrecht and 14 in Dordrecht); the programmes are attached. The 20 volunteers that were trained for promotion events have had their instructions on the boat shows in 2014 and new volunteers wiil be trained in were trained for safe boating trips on the water. They were taken seperately on the boating trips on the hiswa boat show in Marina Amsterdam. Note; Our National Safe Boating programme is an initiative of: Rijkswaterstaat (directive general of the ministry of Transport), the police (on the water), the main ports( of Amsterdam, Rotterdan and Groningen), the boating associations (HISWA, watersportverbond and ANWB), the rescue companies (KNRM and reddingsmaatschappij), the skippers organisation (BLN), the angling association and the water boards. A lot of these organisations have a lot of volunteers who also spread the word about Safe Boating. Agreed is that it is not required for a volunteer, already working for a partner organisation to have a volunteers certificate. We agreed to share the safety information and spread this amongst waterway users as much as we can. De meeting was prepared by the new volunteers working group. This group is a part of the steetinggroup of Safe Boating and contains all partner members/stekeholders. The material of the handbooks was based on the volunteers material of CRT. Now we only need to make our own volunteers mug! The agenda and minutes are included. Page 2

6 Volunteers instruction days in Utecht and Dordrecht Volunteers (existing and newcomers) were invite (via the website, newsletter and social media) to the first volunteers instruction days in Utecht and Dordrecht. In Utrecht most of the volunteers were volunteers of partner organisations with a lot of experience. This is why this meeting was extended by discussion sessions. The meeting in Dordrecht also had field trips on the traffic post and a boat trip. Both programs had the same safe boating presentation. This presentation is translated afterwards in English for the Education platfom. It can be used as an examlpe. Volunteers training day train the trainder on the HISWA Boat show 5 september 2015 Volunteers from our partner organisations were trained to train the volunteers of their organisations and to give presentations and distribute the safe boating material to the volunteers in the field. 10 volunteers were trained and received a licence for that. One is missing on the photo because he had to leave early. All trainers are from partner organisations. 9 Open days per partner region (3.3.2) 3 open days per partner region, with some 40 people participating each session (3.3.2) The open days were mainly organised with the help of our newly trained volunteers. Open days can be categorised in different sections: Open day on the HISWA Boat show in Amsterdam Marina. This event is organised yearly in September and we paricipated during the Numericanal event each year. During this event Professional skippers and boaters were giving the opportunity to go on the very busy IJ lake to experience the heavy traffic on this lake. On the boat an instructor was present who explained everything about safe boating from a boaters and skippers perspective. The tour was done three or four times a day with some 10 people which comes up to 175 attendees per boat show. The boat was always fully booked during all three events. Which comes up to 3x175= about 525 participants during the entire period. In 2015 the stand was visited by an estimation of 10% of all visitors (in the marina) 2600 in the stand (of which 7 percent foreign) is about 182 foreign visitors of mostly Belgium, France, Germany and UK. HISWA RAI boat show is in March each year and we paricipated during the Numericanal project period each year. I was a great opportunity to promote Numericanal and Safe Boating. In this event not just the leaflets are promoted and the website but visitors can make comments on a map and indicate safety zones on the european map. They were also asked to check the safetyzones already indicated (fro m the Netherlands, France and the UK on a tablet which contained the Safeguider app and pogo app. The number of visitor is estimated on 10% visitors is 3700 visitors (of which 5% is foreign ) is about 185 foreigners from Belgium, France, Germany and the UK Both events were organised by two staff members of WRN and a lot of volunteers. Because the safe boating stand is a very busy stand we had help of Page 9

10 Rijkswaterstaan and Port of Rotterdam and Amsterdam and a lot of volunteers from the Rescue companies, the boating organisations and retired skippers. 4 volunteers were present every day. It was also a good opportunity to recruit and instuct newcomers. They had an instruction tour and could take the volunteers kit, which contains promotion material as the leaflets, with them. 52 training days local with about 45 attendees in the region (harbours, associations etc.) each year). The training days are not just done by volunteers but also by lock and bridge keepers to inform the public. It is supported by a safe boating presentation of one of our own volunteers. Training days are given on professional ships on the water (clinics), at control centres of bridges and lock (only the bigger ones at busy points, at local events and in marina s. Page 10
