5 Introduction The EKS was created in 2014 in order to group European key opinion leaders in the field of the degenerative knee and knee arthroplasty. Over 70 knee experts in Europe have in the meantime joined this new society, with the aim to strengthen and consolidate the European knowledge and expertise in this domain. The main goals of the EKS are: o o o o to advance knowledge of degenerative knee pathology and knee arthroplasty to provide an appropriate educational setting that maintains the highest level of professional standards in order to promote continuous advancements in professional knowledge and improved treatment of degenerative disorders of the knee and knee arthroplasty to create an optimum environment to enhance education, research and treatment of degenerative knee pathology and arthroplasty to promote and maintain professional standards to provide the best care to patients with degenerative pathology of the knee joint and arthroplasty of the knee The EKS International Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship was initiated by the EKS Board in order to enhance education for younger talented orthopaedic surgeons. The annual EKS Fellowship aims at enabling young ambitious surgeons who have an interest in the arthritic knee to present themselves to internationally recognized EKS joint replacement and knee surgery centres and meet the experts and improve their knowledge about the arthritic knee. The EKS is grateful to its partners J&J Depuy Synthes, Medacta, Smith and Nephew, Stryker and Zimmer Biomet for sponsoring the travelling fellowship. The EKS Board is also grateful for the collaboration with the EKS members of the visiting centres and appreciates all the efforts made by the hosts to build a great fellowship. We as EKS are proud to have this EKS Fellowship now started and we look forward meeting the selected young surgeons for knowledge exchange and discussions at our selected EKS joint replacement and knee surgery centres.
