2 Costs and Financial Support There are several different kinds of saver tickets available to students and we have detailed below the most popular ones:- Stagecoach Uni-riders Uni-rider is a student only bus ticket valid on all Stagecoach and Magic Bus services in Greater Manchester and into the surrounding areas of Derbyshire and Cheshire, e.g. the 358 to New Mills/Hayfield. They are valid at weekends and at night and there are no age restrictions but you must show your student photo ID to the driver every time you travel. It can be used between the 2 dates printed on the ticket by showing it to the driver with your student ID card. You can purchase termly saver tickets from college or annual tickets online. The cost of tickets is as follows-: Term September -31 December Term January -31 March Term April -30 June Please make cheques payable to Cheadle & Marple Sixth Form College. Students living more than 2 miles from college and eligible for the Bursary will receive a Stagecoach uni-rider or the equivalent value as part of their Bursary allocation. Scholar s Concessionary Permit Greater Manchester students can reduce the cost of bus travel by buying a TfGM Scholar s permit for 5.00, which will enable you to travel at a reduced rate on the Schools services contracted buses and half price on the commercial bus journeys and the train. TfGM Scholar s Concessionary Permit forms can be picked up from College at enrolment for new students, or at Reception for returning students. Please bring a passport sized photograph (signed on the back) and your application form to any Reception where they will be stamped with the College s logo. The form and photographs, together with 5.00 and proof of age (i.e. Passport or Birth Certificate) can be taken to a TfGM Travel Shop or posted to: Concessionary Travel Customer Services Transport for Greater Manchester PO Box 429 Manchester M60 1HX (Do not enclose original documents, photocopies only should be sent) You must show your concessionary pass on every journey if you wish to travel for the concessionary fare. Without your pass the full adult fare will be charged. Please note the permits are for the named person only, any attempt to use another person s pass may result in prosecution by Greater Manchester Transport Authority of all parties involved. Students travelling on commercial journeys will be required to pay half fare with a Scholar s Pass. 1

3 System One Travel Cards Students who do not qualify for a pass can take advantage of System One Travel Cards. The Travel Cards enable students to travel with all bus operators in the Greater Manchester System One Travel Network and can be used in the evenings and at weekends. Students do not have to live in the Greater Manchester area to apply for the System One pass, but must board the bus within the Greater Manchester area. Young Person Bus Saver 7* enables students, aged between 16-21, to travel anywhere in Greater Manchester for 7 consecutive days, any time of day or night until 4 am. The cost of the pass is Young Person Bus Saver 28* enables students to travel monthly for a cost of or when purchased on line. Forms can be obtained from by clicking on to System One Travel cards. The forms may be returned to any TfGM Travel Shop. Students must take with them a recent passport photograph together with proof of age (e.g. birth certificate, passport). Once a membership photo card has been purchased, weekly and monthly tickets can be renewed at any Pay Point. *Promotional periods can apply please check their website for details. Smiths of Marple College Buses Stockport (396); Glossop (397); Buxton (398); Chinley (399) & Hadfield (400) These are free services to Marple Sixth Form College, accessed simply by showing your college ID card. Like Smiths of Marple on Facebook for updates on service and leave feedback Financial Support Students living more than 2 miles from College whose household income is below 26,000 may qualify for help with travel costs from the Bursary, if they cannot use the free college bus service. If you do not qualify for the Bursary but live a long distance from college and have high travel costs greater than 20 each week, you can apply for the Travel Bursary.
