2 The Project Where and what? 1 billion investment. Between March 25 th and April 3 rd Major work will take place in the Manchester Victoria area in connection with the Northern Hub. This will see remodelling of the track layout between Manchester Victoria and Deal Street Junction, and work on the viaduct between Deal Street Junction and Ordsall Lane Junction in preparation for the construction of the Ordsall Chord.
3 The Benefits Two new fast trains per hour between Manchester Victoria and Liverpool Six fast trains an hour between Leeds and Manchester (as opposed to five now) Faster journeys across the north A new direct service through Manchester city centre to Manchester Airport Faster journey times to Hull, Newcastle and the North East As part of the plan to improve rail travel in the North, Northern Hub, we need to build a new viaduct to connect Manchester s Victoria, Oxford Road and Piccadilly stations for the first time

7 The Train Plan Thursday 24 th March Liverpool Lime Street Manchester Victoria services will generally start/terminate at Newton-le- Willows (some evening services will operate to/from Manchester Oxford Road) Liverpool Lime Street Manchester Airport services will call additionally at Patricroft and Eccles Friday 25 th and Saturday 26 th March Liverpool Lime Street Manchester Victoria services will generally start/terminate at Newton-le- Willows (some evening services will operate to/from Manchester Oxford Road) Liverpool Lime Street Manchester Airport services will call additionally at Patricroft and Eccles Manchester Victoria Kirkby/Southport services via Atherton will generally start/terminate at Manchester Oxford Road, with some retimings (providing two trains per hour on the Atherton line) Manchester Victoria Blackpool North services will start/terminate at Bolton. The Blackpool North Hazel Grove and Blackpool North Manchester Airport (TPE) services will operate as normal, with additional capacity where possible 7

10 The Bus Operation Friday 25 th to Sunday 3 rd April Buses will operate between Rochdale and Manchester Victoria, between Stalybridge and Manchester Victoria and between Salford Crescent and Manchester Victoria. Stagecoach Manchester will run the operation Main interchanges will be Manchester Victoria, Rochdale, Salford Crescent and Stalybridge Coordination staff at all stations Man Vic will be operated from Corporation Street 10
11 Other Works over Easter Friday 25 th March Monday 28 th March inclusive Hazel Grove Buxton Structures work will take place at various locations between Hazel Grove and Buxton, including installation of a new bridge for the A6 relief road at Middlewood, and work in Disley Tunnel. Buses will replace trains between Hazel Grove and Buxton for all four days. 11
12 Other Works over Easter Rochdale Major work is taking place to construct a new bay platform at Rochdale to enable services to terminate from the Manchester direction, as part of the Northern Hub. Work will take place on Sundays until 8 th May, and also on Saturdays 9 th and 16 th April, and 7 th May. Generally, trains will start/terminate at Littleborough from the Leeds direction, with buses between Littleborough and Manchester, although on some Sundays trains can run as far as Rochdale from Leeds. Reddish Viaduct and Marple Rock Cutting Major work will take place at Reddish Viaduct, and Marple Rock Cutting, from Saturday 2 nd April until Sunday 10 th April inclusive. On the two Saturdays, and Monday to Friday, an amended train service will run between Manchester and Rose Hill via Hyde, and services between Manchester and Sheffield will divert via (and call at) Stockport and Hazel Grove. Buses will operate between Manchester and New Mills/Chinley via Bredbury. On the two Sundays, trains between Manchester and Sheffield will divert via Stockport, with buses between Manchester and Chinley via Romiley. 12
