3 Demondrille Clients Results Bill Hurley - Killanear Boorowa For the second year running, Bill Hurley, has won the 2017 ANZ and NSW Stud Merino Breeders Southern Tablelands Flock Ewe Championship (STFEC). Mr Hurley and his Demondrille-blood maiden ewes, who also took the inaugural title in 2016, were judged the champions the Southern Tablelands Crookwell, Boorowa, Gunning and Taralga. Judges for this year s competition, Chris Clonan, Alfoxton Stud, Armidale, Paul Walton, Wurrook Stud, Rokewood, Victoria, and associate judge, Georgia Walters, formerly of Middle View Merino Stud, Dalgety, currently studying at the The judges comments included They have good wool density and nourishment, They are really good barrelled ewes, I expect them to join well. 4 The Killanear ewes were shorn on the 22nd June, cutting an average of 7.5 kg of 18.4 micron wool. Prior to founding the stud the Davis Family had been breeding fine wool Merino Sheep since The flock bred from Tulangi continually from 1951 and since founding the stud, sires have been introduced from Merryvile and other Merryville based studs. 18 Achievements 2017 STARTED AS ONE OF OUR BIGGEST YEARS YET! With Demondrille Merino Stud taking out the not often achieved, trifecta at the 2017 Sydney Royal, winning Supreme Merino Ram, Supreme Merino Ewe and Grand Champion Fleece. We have won the Supreme Exhibit previously in 2004 and 2006, however this was the biggest year yet. Bill Hurley a client of ours won the 2017 Southern Tablelands Flock Ewe Championship for the second year running. At this years March shearing, the stud ewes achieved an average wool cut of 7.5kg of 18.2 micron wool. The wool sold for an average price of 1420 cents. Our 2017 Autumn lambing percentage of just marked lambs achieved 115%. Last year was a great ram selling season for us. Starting with our on property sale which achieved a 98% clearance with an average of $2190. The sires Demondrille are currently using are selected for their well structured, large frames with a skin capable of cutting large quantity of quality white wool.
