Damages: Php M (infrastructure and agriculture) a) Agriculture DA 5 reported 6, hectares of agricultural land in all provinces Region V that were damaged with an estimated loss of 25, metric tons of crops valued at PhP170,535, b) Infrastructure A total of PhP M worth of infrastructure (roads and bridges) were damaged in Catanduanes, Sorsogon and Masbate. (Assessment as of 04 May 2009) III. Humanitarian Response A. Food and NFIs 1. The NDCC through the NDCC Rice Assistance Program facilitated the release of 4,100 sacks of rice to PDCCs Albay (750); Catanduanes (1,000); Sorsogon (1000); Camarines Norte (1,000); and Camarines Sur (350) all in Region V. 2. DSWD-FO V provided PhP309, worth of family food packs and 580 sacks of NFA rice to augment assistance to the affected LGUs: PhP182, in Albay (Malinao and Sto Domingo) and PhP127, in Catanduanes. 3. DSWD-FO has stockpile of food and non food relief commodities worth PhP1,154, as augmentation support. 4. DOH V provided 100 boxes compact food worth PhP252, to the Province of Sorsogon. 5. DSWD V SWAD Team initiated the establishment of community kitchen in barangay Guinlajon, Sorsogon City for the stranded passengers of trapped buses near the impassable Cawayan Bridge. Barangay Council and community volunteers were mobilized for the community kitchen. 6. LGU Pilar/Matnog PPA and some shipping lines provided food to stranded passengers. 7. PSWDO Catanduanes conducted relief operation to the 60 families inside the evacuation center in Solong, San Miguel, Catanduanes. 8. PDCC Catanduanes stockpiled relief goods ready for delivery through boat to the municipalities of Pandan, Caramoran, Gigmoto and Bato as soon as the weather permits. 9. PDCC Camarines Sur distributed food packs to the affected families. 10. MDCC Irosin distributed relief goods to evacuees. 11. OCDRC V coordinated with DSWD V on the provision and deployment of relief assistance to the evacuees from Mercedes and Daet, Camarines Norte. B. Health 1. DOH V continuously validating reported fatalities. 2. OCD coordinated with DOH 5 for the possible deployment of medical teams in various ports to provide necessary medical assistance to stranded passengers. 3. The City Health Office of Sorsogon established medical station in Cawayan Bridge to cater to the stranded motorists. C. Search and Rescue, Retrieval Operations/Evacuation 1. MDCC Magallanes, Sorsogon led by Mayor Abelardo L Arambulo with the Kabalikat Civicom, MHO Magallanes and other volunteers/barangay officials from nearby barangays of Hubo, Magallanes conducted search and retrieval operations at the landslide area in Barangay Hubo. 2. Albay Provincial Police Office (APPO) provided security and assisted in the evacuation in the municipalities of Sto. Domingo, Libon, Bacacay and Legaspi City. 2

PN-NAVFORSOL provided 1 M35 truck to the Municipality of Camalig and transported 95 evacuees from Camalig Municipal Hall to Baligang Evacuation Center, Baligang Elementary School, and from Barangays Sua and Quirangay to North Central School. 4. The 901 st BDE PA conducted rescue and retrieval operation along Irosin-Juban- Casiguran-Magallanes-Sorsogon City; SAR operation in Juban, Sorsogon; one platoon assisted in relief operation of PDCC Catanduanes. D. Road Clearing Operations 1. DPWH issued travel advisories; placed manpower and equipment on standby to conduct restoration works. Removal of debris at the landslide areas and backfilling of approaches will start soon. E. Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (DANA) 1. NDCC-OPCEN facilitated the request for the availability/use of one PAF aircraft (UH1H) for the conduct of damage assessment and needs analysis (DANA) in the affected areas in Region V. 2. Social Welfare Action Development (SWAD) Teams in Camarines Norte and Catanduanes were deployed to assess the impact of TS Dante. 3. OCD 5 together with RD Banguit of PRO5, R3, NAVFORSOL and 901Bde conducted DANA at the landslide areas in Sorsogon and Catanduanes (Pictures of the conducted DANA attached) 3
