Church Picnic Our 2nd Annual Church Picnic is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, June 10th beginning at 12noon. On this day, both our English and Spanish Masses will be celebrated at 10:30am. We are currently working on confirming activities such as face painting, piñatas, pony rides, line dancing, and if you have a talent you d like to share such as singing, dancing, magic tricks, or any other talent, we d love to see it! 4 Esto es lo que las mando: que se amen los unos a los otros. El evangelista Juan pone en boca de Jesús un largo discurso de despedida en el que se recogen con una intensidad especial algunos rasgos fundamentales que han de recordar sus discípulos a lo largo de los tiempos, para ser fieles a su persona y a su proyecto. También en nuestros días. «Permaneced en mi amor». Es lo primero. No se trata sólo de vivir en una religión, sino de vivir en el amor con que nos ama Jesús, el amor que recibe del Padre. Ser cristiano no es en primer lugar un asunto doctrinal, sino una cuestión de amor. A lo largo de los siglos, los discípulos conocerán incertidumbres, conflictos y dificultades de todo orden. Lo importante será siempre no desviarse del amor. Permanecer en el amor de Jesús no es algo teórico ni vacío de contenido. Consiste en «guardar sus mandamientos», que él mismo resume enseguida en el mandato del amor fraterno: «Éste es mi mandamiento; que os améis unos a otros como yo os he amado». El cristiano encuentra en su religión muchos mandamientos. Su origen, su naturaleza y su importancia son diversos y desigua- NO ESTAMOS SOLOS EN LA LUCHA CONTRA EL MAL: FRANCISCO El Papa Francisco prosiguió con la catequesis sobre el bautismo. El bautismo es en manera particular el sacramento de la fe, porque signa el ingreso sacramental en la vida de la fe, dijo citando el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, y recordó, asimismo, que la fe es la entrega de sí mismos al Señor Jesús, reconocido como fuente de agua [...] para la vida eterna, luz del mundo" (Jn 9,5), vida y resurrección (Jn 11:25)». Dijo el romano Pontífice: Continuamos la catequesis sobre el bautismo, y lo hacemos a la luz del Evangelio, que tiene la fuerza de trasformar a quien lo acoge con fe, arrancándolo del dominio del maligno para que aprenda a servir al Señor con alegría. La Iglesia acompaña a los catecúmenos en este camino con la oración, como nos recuerdan las letanías que preceden al rito bautismal. En los exorcismos de los candidatos adultos, el sacerdote suplica a Dios que los libre de todo lo que les separa de Cristo y les impide unirse a Él. Del mismo modo, se pide la liberación del pecado original de los niños que van a ser bautizados, para que puedan ser consagrados como templos del Espíritu Santo. En catequesis que impartió en italiano el Papa profundizó en este punto, explicando que el bautismo no es una fórmula mágica, sino que es el don del Espíritu Santo que habilita a quien lo recibe a luchar contra el espíritu del mal. Sabemos por experiencia que la vida cristiana está siempre sujeta a la tentación de separarse de Dios, de su voluntad, de la comunión con Él, para recaer en los lazos de las seducciones mundanas, agregó, recordando que Dios mandó a su Hijo al mundo para destruir el poder de satanás (...)

En ese día, ambas Misas, en inglés y español, se celebrarán a las 10:30 a.m. Estamos trabajando en la confirmación de actividades como pintura de caras, piñatas, paseos en pony, baile de línea, y si usted tiene un talento que le gustaría compartir como el canto, baile, trucos de magia, o cualquier otro talento, nos encantaría verlo!
