While there are differing opinions as to when it started, crisis talk is now around six or seven years old. Amid the negativity, the Grimaldi Group can look back over this period with a good deal of satisfaction. Consolidated results for 2013 show our Group continues to grow year-on-year with profits rising by Euro 40 million to approximately Euro 170 million. Net equity increased by around Euro 140 million, while debt - mostly short-term debt - fell by Euro 350 million compared to the previous year. Considering that our turnover was largely stable, it is easy to see that these strong results were in large part the result of a razor-eyed focus on efficiency and profitability. Group managers have become entrepreneurs in the true sense of the term. While we operate in a difficult and volatile environment, the current crisis, it could be said, has at least one upside; it has led to the welcome return of old-fashioned values. Ten years ago, debt was considered a good thing; leverage was a chance to play with someone else s money. Low equity ratios reflected a praiseworthy desire to gamble. Nowadays it is once again considered prudent to be less exposed to market volatility. Banks today demand high equity ratios, and this new environment suits our Group. In fact, our equity ratios are in excess - even double - the levels recommended by financial institutions. This financial stability, combined with growing profits, gives us confidence. Trading in the first quarter of this year is again running ahead of Our financial performance is improving quarter-on-quarter, year-on-year. Our fleet, meanwhile, is also growing. While others sell assets to cover losses, we have been on the acquisition trail, concluding deals at very favourable prices during the downturn. When newbuildings and almost-new ships are added together, the Group fleet will increase by a total of 17 units. And not just any old vessels either: Atlantic Container Line, for example, is taking delivery of some of the largest ro-ro vessels in operation anywhere in the world. Vessels destined for deepsea routes to Africa and South America are also among the largest on that trade. Environmentally friend fuel efficiency measures, such as re-blading, will help the bottom line yet further in the years to come. Our managers and engineers have managed to reduce fuel consumption every year, putting us in a strong position to compete when bunker costs go up, as we are expecting. For vessels trading in the emissions control areas of the North Sea, Baltic Sea and English Channel, we are now actively investigating the purchase or lease of scrubbers the colloquial term for emissions abatement equipment. Our engineers and financial experts have been in discussions with two of the biggest scrubber manufacturers will be a key year on several trades. Companies that cannot react effectively to new lowsulphur fuel requirements could be forced out of the market, whereas those who survive will have a chance to become industrial players. The Grimaldi Group has always invested for the long term. We can do little about the supply side of our trades, but we can ensure that we are the most efficient, the leanest and meanest operators on the market. This long-term vision is appreciated not only by our clients and financial partners, but by our staff too. Some of our employees are following in the footsteps of both parents and grandparents in choosing to dedicate their careers to our Group. With continued focus on the bottom line, there is good reason to predict more profit growth in the coming years.

3 Fleet Development Launching of the Grande Lagos On the 10th of March, the Grande Lagos, a new ro/ro-multipurpose vessel of the Grimaldi Group was launched at the South Korea s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard. This unit is the first of a series of six ro/ro-multipurpose vessel ordered by the Group to the Korean shipyards, with two slated for delivery in 2014 and the last four in The newbuilding has a deadweight of 31,600 tonnes, a length of 236,30 metres and is able to carry a large variety of rolling cargo (cars, vans, trucks, earth moving equipment, etc.), containers and break bulk cargo. The loading capacity is of 5,700 linear metres of rolling cargo and 1,800 TEUs, increased by 47% compared to the vessels previously built by the Group in Korea. The Grande Lagos is also fitted with two cranes on the weather deck with an outreach of 43 metres and able to load cargo with up to 40 tonnes of weight each. Furthermore, this series of vessels is designed to achieve significant fuel efficiency and operational flexibility, since the Group s programme is to focus on reducing environmental impacts for the benefit of future generations. The Grande Lagos is due to be delivered in July and will serve one of the deep sea routes of the Group. Next vessel to be launched is the Grande Tema in June, due to be delivered in October. GNEWS 3

With a total length of 18 meters, the units were transported on special trucks from the factory of CAF (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles) in Guipúzcoa (about 560 km from Barcelona), loaded on mafi trailers at the port of Barcelona and then again on trucks in Civitavecchia for their over the road transport to the eternal city (about 90 km of distance from the port). The three wagons are the first of over a hundred units that are to be transported in the next six months and be delivered to Rome s underground network (lines A and B). The work commenced in September 2013 and on April 9, 2014 the opening ceremony took place. Each container and bus can be shared by five to six people, with a total of 60 seats available. These co-op spaces are for foreigners who want to temporarily work in Lisbon and are rented by the hour.
