3 From The CEO... Dear Gir Scout, A summer of adventure and fun awaits you within the pages of the Gir Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO) camp guide. I invite you and your friends to expore the opportunities inside. Each program is fied with exciting and fun activities that offer you a unique pace for sefdiscovery, aughter and persona growth. And, a girs, whether a Gir Scout member or not, are wecome to attend Gir Scout camps. Great things happen when you go to camp. You wi earn about yoursef and discover that you reay can canoe across the ake or find a distant panet using the observatory. Camp is designed to give you, and every gir, the chance to succeed, buid friendships, chaenge yoursef and most importanty discover the fun of being a gir! You wi experience many other far-reaching benefits at Gir Scout camp that wi change your ife. At camp you wi: Strengthen your socia skis; Buid sef-esteem; Learn and practice eadership skis; Safey test your imits and boost your confidence; Discover new taents, interests and abiities; and Increase your awareness of our environment. You wi discover the word around you, connect with others who share your interests and passions and take action in a safe and supervised setting. You can share your fare for fashion and earn tips from drama experts or test your athetic abiities in archery, canoeing and more. Camp is a pace where the vaue of iving in a community is every bit as important as earning new skis. Whether you are a first time camper or a camping veteran, you wi earn independence and courage, and return home a stronger young woman. We are ready to hep you make your camp experience the best yet, provide earning, friendship and fun. Our diverse, we-trained staff provides you with a safe, supportive environment in which you can enjoy camp to the fuest. Our Gir Scout camps offer programs across the spectrum. As a young Gir Scout, you may enjoy tea with the Mad Hatter or swimming with the Litte Mermaid in Firefies and Fairy Taes; as an oder Gir Scout, you may seek adventure, go spieunking and discover the word beow! Ride horses, earn about the stars, cook over a fire, or join thri-seeking girs ike yoursef for roer coaster tours and saiing on Lake Erie. Whatever your schedue, interest or age, there is a summer camp program for you. GSNEO offers camp programs ranging from one-to-five days, for girs ages 6- to-17 years od. 4 GSNEO Summer Camps 2011 is ocated in Peninsua, within the boundaries of the Cuyahoga Vaey Nationa Park. This 400 acre camp features Low Lodge dining ha and activity center, swimming poo, shower house, heath center and Trading Post. Housing units incude ten seeping cabins with kitchens (two fuy accessibe), four patform tent units, and four Adirondack sheter units. Each unit has a picnic paviion for group activities, campfire circe, wash paviion with sinks and atrines. Famiystye meas are served at Low Lodge. boasts Boston Run Creek, archery range, amphitheater, rock cimbing site, sports fied, observatory and Lake Loomis for canoeing, fishing and nature study. Open House Apri pm Camp Sugarbush Camp Sugarbush is ocated in Kinsman in Trumbu County. It covers amost 200 acres of natura areas. Camp faciities incude a dining ha, shower house, infirmary, swimming poo, sma ake, archery range, game fieds and an observatory. Open House May 6 2-4pm Housing units incude covered wagons, permatents and paviitents. Each unit has its own paviion, atrine and water. Campers ive in units housing four-to-eight girs. A units have cots with mattresses. Note: Troop Camping ony. 4 Camp Timberane Camp Timberane is ocated on 324 scenic acres in the beautifu Fireands Reserve near Wakeman. The property incudes mies of hiking trais, creeks and ravines, and is home to a variety of pants and widife. The camp grounds incude an in-ground poo with shower house, meandering ake, hiside amphitheater, archery range, chaenge course and observatory. Camp units are distinctive and unique, featuring three cabins, and one patform tent unit. Famiy-stye meas are served at Stocker Lodge. Open House Apri pm

5 Summer Camp FAQs When does registration for Summer Camp Programs open and cose? Registration for a Summer Camp Programs opens on March 1, 2012 and coses two weeks prior to the program session start date, or when sod out, whichever comes first. How do I register? A registration for Summer Camp Programs is onine at gsneo.org. To register for Summer Camp Programs, from the Home Page cick the orange Camping tab under the arge picture. Then, on the camping webpage cick the onine registration system ink. Make sure you competey fi out the information requested. NOTE: If you are a first time onine registration user, you wi need to be registered as a website user with a ogin profie. Why do I need to ogin and create a profie on gsneo.org? A ogin and user profie hep maintain the integrity and security of the registration system. It's a way to make sure ony members of GSNEO are using the system and signing up for programs. You wi need to do this once for each member you wi register. It is recommended that aduts create profies first, then add each gir member to the adut profie. A unique user name wi be needed for each individua, but a famiy can use the same password for a, if desired. Pease remember the user names and passwords you create. Those user names and passwords are what aow access to the onine registration system and to whom Pathway Passes are designated (see Pathway Passes beow). Do I need to be a registered Gir Scout to participate in Summer Camp programs? Everyone participating in Summer Camp Programs must be a registered Gir Scout, except boys under the age of 18 attending Famiy Camp. Pease compete a separate membership registration and payment of $12 if you are not currenty a registered member. Membership forms are on the Forms webpage at gsneo.org. How wi I pay onine? A Summer Camp Programs wi be paid for by credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover), PayPa, ACH debit, and Pathway Passes. Financia assistance is avaiabe. Downoad and compete the Camp Financia Assistance Appication on the Forms webpage at gsneo.org. Financia assistance appications must be received at the Macedonia office within 72 hours business hours of the onine registration where assistance was requested. Is there a Deposit required to hod my Resident Camp registration? Yes, a non-refundabe deposit of $50 is required for a Resident Camp sessions. If appying for financia aid, a deposit must accompany each registration submitted. Is there a deposit needed for day, famiy, core and one-day programs? No, deposits are not accepted for Day, Famiy, Core and One Day gir programs. Payment in fu is required at registration uness a request for financia aid is made with registration. See "How wi I pay onine?" above. Pathway Passes may be used for deposits. Can I attend Resident Camp with my buddy? Yes! At the time of registration EACH gir wi need to ist her buddy in the designated area in the registration. Ony one buddy is aowed per program and she must be the same program age eve. GSNEO wi do our best to accommodate a requests for girs to attend Summer Camp Programs with their designated buddy. When wi I receive a confirmation? Immediate confirmations wi be sent to the emai on fie in your user profie. Additiona confirmation and program specific information wi be sent by U.S. Posta Service or emai within 3 weeks of registration. What is the cost? Resident camp fees range from $165 to $420 depending on the ength of the program and the cost of specia activities, such as horseback riding and fied trips. Camp fees cover direct service to our campers which may incude: meas, suppies, insurance, transportation for specia programs and camp staff saaries. Additiona spending money may be required for some camp sessions. This is noted with a $$. Are my Pathway Passes vaid for Summer Camp Programs? Individua GSNEO Pathway Passes that were earned by girs through the 2011 Fa Product Sae and the 2012 Cookie Sae may be used towards any 2012 Summer Camp Program isted in the guide or avaiabe onine. When registering for camp programs, be sure to appy your Pathway Pass codes during the check out process. (Programs indicated by a O symbo.) Is there financia assistance? Yes! If you woud ike to be considered for financia assistance, submit the Camp Financia Assistance Appication within 72 business hours of competing your onine registration. Financia Assistance is based upon individua need and Counci's avaiabiity of funds. A deposit of $50 must accompany each registration for Resident Camp Programs even if assistance is requested. Financia assistance candidates must be in good financia standing with GSNEO and GSUSA. Financia assistance requests wi be imited to one resident camp and one other camp program per gir, subject to avaiabiity of funds. 5

6 Summer Camp FAQs background checked and are at east 18 years od. Younger staff members, years od are junior staff ony and are supervised at a times. A camp staff are trained in safety and security, emergency procedures, and are First Aid and CPR Certified. Emergency care is handed by oca emergency responders or hospita emergency rooms when necessary. Are Counci Shops open at camp? Gir Scouts have an opportunity to buy souveniers at camp. Detaied information about camp shopping wi be sent with the second confirmation and program specific detais. What are the refund/canceation poicies? A fu refund (incuding your deposit) wi be given ONLY if the requested camp session is canceed. A partia refund (camp fee, ess deposit) wi be given for medica or famiy emergencies that prevent the camper from attending camp. To receive a partia refund, a written request must be submitted no ater than two weeks after the camp session to program@gsneo.org. No other refunds wi be granted. GSNEO reserves the right to ater or cance camp activities for any reason. You wi be notified 48 business hours after changes are made. Can I reschedue my camper? If space permits, it is possibe to reschedue. An additiona $25 administrative fee per session wi be charged for rescheduing. Ony ONE rescheduing is aowed per camper and the rescheduing fee must be paid in advance to confirm the new session. To reschedue, contact the Registration Department through registration@gsneo.org. Requests to reschedue must be submitted at east two weeks prior to camp session originay registered to attend. How are camp staff trained? Are accommodations avaiabe for girs with specia needs? GSNEO strives to make reasonabe accommodations for girs with specia needs. Due to rugged terrain, some areas of camp might not be accessibe. Pease contact the Outdoor Program Manager at or emai ddefiore@gsneo.org in advance to determine what is avaiabe to make her camp experience safe, fufiing and rewarding. Are the camps accredited? Camps Ledgewood, Sugarbush and Timberine are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). Accredited camps must compy with 300 nationa standards for heath and safety. Do campers need a physica? Yes, a current physica exam, signed by a physician, competed no more than 12 months prior to the Gir Scout's arriva at camp, is required for a resident campers. A form wi be sent with confirmation materias within 3 weeks of registration. Bring the competed form to camp. NO GIRL WILL BE ADMITTED TO CAMP WITHOUT THIS COMPLETED FORM. Our dedicated camp staff is on-site to guide each girs camp experience. A diverse staff is recruited from oca and out-ofstate communities. A staff are screened, trained and 6

Learn and improve your skis and compete in an archery tournament at the end of the week. Connect with new friends as you enjoy time on the ake canoeing. Enjoy a specia day trip to Camp Timberane to tacke the kayaks and padde boats in their awesome designed ake. Program Code: RESLED01 O Center Stage (New) June J/C/S Cost: $310, max. 36 Pack up your trunk and head off to camp to spend your days at the theater. Do you see yoursef as a director, actor, or set designer? During your stay you wi earn from theater professionas about stage make-up and costumes, buid a set, create stage props, and show off your taents and skis. Finish off your time at backstage or in front of the ights at Taent Night. This program aso incudes a fied trip to a oca theater company. Program Code: RESLED02 O Counseor In Training 2 (Must have competed CIT 1) Cost $415, max. 10 This three week, second year program wi give you more experience working with campers. Shadow staff in specific areas of camp, earn more about camp administration, and visit other camps to see a variety of programs. This program runs these weeks: June 17-22, June 24-29, Juy 1-3, and Juy 6-8. You wi go home on the weekends and over Juy 4th hoiday. Upon registration, you wi be sent additiona information for the program. Program Code: RESLED03 O Extreme Survivor June (age 12 +) $$ Cost: $350, max. 10 Face your fears with a ot of friends! A new adventure each day. Rock cimbing, white water rafting in Ohio Pye, a high/ow ropes course, and much more. Girs wi participate in primitive camping off-site for two days. 13 Summer Troop Opportunities New to Camp Sugarbush for Summer 2012 Troop/Group Opportunities Troop/Group Camping Summer Troop camping is a great way to get together with your Gir Scout friends. Spend time under the sun and stars enjoying the outdoors. Troop camping is a great way for girs to pan, reax, and come together without a the distractions at home. Come out for a day or a coupe nights. Week-days and weekends are avaiabe. Troops are responsibe for panning and suppying their own program and meas. Troop and Groups may register within the 3 month window using the onine registration system. No wak-in or teephone reservations wi be accepted. Core Camp Week-End Juy Core Camp is a great time for troops to enjoy camp during the summer. Your troop can choose to participate in activities such as swimming, canoeing, hikes, arts and crafts, and stargazing faciitated by trained vounteer program staff. 14 Summer Troop Opportunities Core Camp - Camp Timberane What is Summer Core Camp? Core Camp is a great opportunity for troops to camp for the weekend at Camp Timberane. Troops can enjoy the camp with support from our summer resident camp staff. The camp staff provides opportunities for troops to enjoy activities that require specia certification such as canoeing, archery, swimming and use of the observatory. Troops wi aso have faciitators to guide them through more tradditiona activities such as cooperative games, arts & crafts, heath & fitness, and outdoor skis. GSNEO suppies a materias, meas and trained program faciitators to ead each pre-panned program. A programs are geared to the age eve of the troop with the exception of some specific programs, as noted by program description. A compete ist of programs and descriptions wi accompany your program confirmation. Troops wi sign up for the programs they choose creating their weekend schedue at the eaders meeting Friday evening. Genera programming for summer core camp incudes six (6) hours of program activity hours and two a-camp evening programs. Friday evening gives troops the opportunity to join in an a-camp program. Saturday evening come prepared to share a favorite song or skit at the a-camp, sing-a-ong campfire. Meas and snacks throughout the weekend wi be suppied by the GSNEO kitchen staff. Saturday afternoon troops wi enjoy an outdoor cooking experience as they are guided by one of the summer staff using a cooking technique chosen by the troop/group in advance. Troops are required to meet adut to gir ratio according to GSUSA poicy. Each troop must provide a currenty certified First Aid/CPR and outdoor trained adut(s) that must remain with the group at a times. A attending persons must be GSUSA registered members and a attending aduts must be GSNEO approved vounteers. Check-In starts Friday at 6pm with a Leaders Meeting at 7pm. Check-Out is Sunday at 10am.
