1 Work at Summer Camp Spend your summer in the beautiful mountains of New Mexico. Ride horses, canoe, go rock climbing, or dye your socks and get paid doing it. Obtain real world professional skills and have the summer of your life teaching young girls to become G.I.R.L.s (Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, Leaders). How to choose which camp is right for you Each of our two camps is unique and offers a different selection of programs, sites and schedules. Programs are designed around outdoor skills, horse program, leadership development, high adventure, art, science, and the five outcomes of Girl Scouts (strong sense of self, positive values, challenge seeking, healthy relationships, and community problem solving). Groups range in size from 6-16 girls with 1-2 counselors working with each group. Counselors will have an opportunity to choose which theme and age group they would like to work with. Programs run Sunday to Friday with special weekend programs for Troops and Families. All positions include room and board. Look at each camp/job description and what skills or experiences you may already have or want to learn and also keep in mind the start and end dates and your summer availability. You can always contact the Camp Director if you have questions or need further assistance. Rancho del Chaparral Located in the Jemez mountain range, Rancho is a traditional, rustic camp with a wide range of accommodations from platform tents to adirondacks. Program features horses and traditional camp activities with a focus on nature, science, art, leadership, and team work. Staff has a wide variety of experience from performing arts background to multi-day camping. Skills working with all age ranges with a variety of outdoor skills, such as hiking, nature exploration and traditional Girl Scout programming is good as well. The weather is warm in the day with cool nights. Admin Staff dates: May 21 - August 3; All Staff dates: May 29-July 31 Camp Elliott Barker Located near the town of Angel Fire, Camp Barker offers accommodations in platform tents or cabins. Programs focus on high adventure activities with trips out of camp for river rafting, rock climbing and horse programs. Staff has a wide variety of experience including art, canoeing, backpacking, and outdoor cooking. Skills working at high elevations and with older girls as well as traditional Girl Scout programming is desired. The weather is warm in the day with cool nights. Associate Camp Director Salary: $475 a week, 10.5-week contract Minimum Age: 25 with driver s license Requires: Min. two prior seasons of administrative or supervisory experience in an organized camp. Position Description: The Associate Camp Director is responsible for the development and management of camp programs, human resource, financial, marketing and strategic operations. Further the mission of the camp through the planning and delivery of staff training and oversight of program implementation. This person must have administrative and supervisory experience in organized camps. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Experience with ACA (America Camp Association) accreditation and standards. Promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Serve as a role model to campers and staff by your actions, appearance, manners, leading those as assigned. Assistant Camp Director with driver s license Position Description: The Assistant Camp Director is responsible for the administration and coordination of camp operations and logistics and business operations including purchasing, personnel record keeping, customer service, financial records, and transportation. This person should have administrative and supervisory experience in organized camps. Further the mission of the camp through the planning and delivery of program and unit activities and events. Oversee responsibilities for program, units or operations as assigned. Assist the Associate Camp Director with management of camp operations. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Serve as a role model to campers and staff by your actions, appearance, manners, language, and general conduct. Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned. Program Director with driver s license Position Description: The Program Director is responsible for the development and implementation of camp programs. This person should have administrative and supervisory experience in organized camps. Assist the Unit Leaders and Counselors with master scheduling and logistics. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Health Supervisor (Driver s License preferred) Preferred license: RN or MD, EMT-B or EMT-P acceptable Position Description: The Health Supervisor is responsible for assisting in providing health and safety services to campers and staff. Oversee daily medication management. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Promote high standards in all aspects of the health and wellness. Serve as a role model to campers and staff by your actions, appearance, manners, language, and general conduct. Participate enthusiastically in camp activities, assisting in those other duties as assigned.

3 Equestrian Director Position Description: The Equestrian Director is responsible for planning and delivery of a comprehensive horseback riding program that is safe, fun and appropriate to the campers ages and abilities. This person should have administrative, supervisory experience in organized camps or youth riding programs and significant experience in Western riding. Provide management to the physical operation of the horseback riding facilities and equipment. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Serve as a role model to campers and staff by your actions, appearance, manners, language, and general conduct. Participate enthusiastically in other camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned. Assistant Equestrian Director Salary: $300 a week, 9-week contract Position Description: The Assistant Equestrian Director is responsible for supporting the planning and delivery of a comprehensive horseback riding program that is safe, fun and appropriate to the campers ages and abilities. This person should have administrative, supervisory experience in organized camps or youth riding programs and significant experience in Western riding. Riding Staff/Wranglers Salary: $200 a week, 9-week contract Minimum Age: 16 Position Description: Working in our riding stables, riding staff/wranglers are responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive horseback riding program that is safe, fun and appropriate for campers ages and abilities. Riding staff are also responsible for the care of the horses and burros. Must be able to catch, groom, tack, mount, and ride proficiently at the walk and trot at a minimum. Ropes Course Supervisor (Barker Only) Salary: $275 a week, 9-week contract Requires: Rope course facilitation certification; supervisory experience Position Description: The Ropes Course Supervisor provides a teambuilding / adventure experience on a high element ropes course that is safe, fun and appropriate to the campers ages and abilities. They are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating and carrying out low and high ropes activities and guide campers in their personal growth and teamwork development. 4 Aquatics Supervisor (Barker Only) Salary: $275 a week, 9-week contract Requires: Lifeguard, swim instructor, boating, or watercraft certification; supervisory experience Position Description: The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating and carrying out aquatics and canoeing program and overseeing aquatic safety. Assist in the management of water front and related equipment. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Serve as a role model to campers and staff by your actions, appearance, manners, language, and general conduct. Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned. Program Specialist- Art Salary: $250 a week, 9-week contract Position Description: The Art Specialist develops and delivers arts and crafts activities that are safe, fun and appropriate to the campers ages and abilities. They are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating and carrying out art activities that guide campers in their personal growth and skill development. Assist in the management of the art center and related equipment and supplies. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Serve as a role model to campers and staff by your actions, appearance, manners, leading those as assigned. Will be assigned a unit to live with as coverage. Program Specialist- Nature/Archery Salary: $250 a week, 9.5-week contract Position Description: The Nature/Archery Specialist develops and delivers nature and environmental and archery programming that is safe, fun and appropriate to the campers ages and abilities. They are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating and carrying out archery activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and skill development. Assist in the management of the physical operation of the archery course and related equipment. Assist with the planning and supervision with overnight camping and backpacking trips, as assigned. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Serve as a role model to campers and staff by your actions, appearance, manners, language, and general conduct. Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned. May be assigned a unit to live with as coverage. Wilderness First Aid certification desired. Program Specialist- Lifeguard (Barker Only) Salary: $200 a week, 9-week contract Minimum Age: 16 Requires: Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent lifeguard certification Position Description: The Program Specialist-Lifeguard will work closely with the Aquatics Supervisor to aid with on- and off-site canoeing programming. Will act as a lifeguard for all aquatic activities and as a program specialist in other areas of camp as assigned. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. 5 Unit Leader Salary: $300 a week, 9-week contract Position Description: The Unit Leaders oversee the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes. Unit Leaders work closely with Unit Counselors to aid in program planning, and general supervision. Group leadership, youth development experience and program development skills needed. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Serve as a role model to campers and staff by your actions, appearance, manners, leading those as assigned. Wilderness First Aid certification desired. Unit Counselor Salary: $250 a week, 9-week contract Position Description: The Unit Counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper. They are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes. Group leadership, youth development experience and program development skills needed. Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired. Promote high standards in all aspects of the camp program. Head Cook (Barker Only) Salary: $375 a week, 9.5-week contract Requires: Certified Food Manager per state Environmental Department Position Description: The Head Cook is responsible for planning and preparing healthful meals for all campers and staff. Working out of our professional and recently renovated kitchen, the Head Cook must plan menus, manage food orders with approved vendors, supervise and train kitchen staff, supervise and enforce sanitary requirements in the kitchen, and accommodate food allergy and dietary requests. Assistant Cook (Barker Only) Salary: $250 a week, 9.5-week contract Requires: Food handling certification per state Environmental Department Position Description: The Assistant Cook is responsible for working directly with the Head Cook to plan and prepare healthful meals for all campers and staff. Working out of our professional and recently renovated kitchen, the Assistant Cook must plan menus, supervise and train kitchen staff, supervise and enforce sanitary requirements in the kitchen, accommodate food allergy and dietary requests. 6 Kitchen Assistant Salary: $175 a week, 9-week contract Minimum Age: 15 Requires: Food handling certification per state Environmental Department Position Description: Kitchen Assistants will assist in all areas of the food service including duties in food preparation, dish washing, extensive cleaning, packing out for trip and cook-out experiences, managing stock and ensuring the highest quality food service experience.
