The website address is: HALLOWEEN POT LUCK On October 30, many residents enjoyed a time of fellowship during Happy Hour and Pot Luck Dinner to celebrate Halloween. Many people who had dressed up for e occasion added to an entertaining evening. Thank you to Bill Gelinas for providing e picture, along wi e comment It appears everyone had a frightening good night and e costumes were BOOtiful -- Two of e costume winners, Gord and Roy, wi Sharon and Peg The food was delicious, and many people wanted e recipe for Betsy Kooh s recipe for rice noodle wi minced beef & shrimp. Betsy has been kind enough to share it wi everyone. Page 4
5 RICE NOODLE WITH MINCED BEEF & SHRIMP Ingredients: 1 packet of rice vermicelli (in dry type) "brand name" Kong Moon Rice Stick" (rice vermicelli) obtainable from Price Chopper (price about $1.49 per packet) 1 lb of lean minced beef 14 pieces of medium size shrimp (cocktail shrimp can be used) cut into ree pieces per shrimp half a stick of carrot cut into slices and into fine strips 1 spray of spring onions diced finely 4 cloves of garlic minced 1/2 inch of ginger minced 1/2 of 1 small white onion minced 2 tbs dark soya sauce or more 2 tbs oyster sauce (Lee Kum Kee brand) from Price Chopper 1 tbs sesame oil black pepper deep fried onion flakes (optional) not obtainable in Barrie only in Chinese grocery 2 tsp sugar Meod: Soak vermicelli in lots of cold water (covering vermicelli) and turn vermicelli over to soak until it is loose and softer an before. Remove carrot instantly wi a strainer and put e carrots wi e vermicelli Toss everying togeer in e pan. Sprinkle some spring onions and deep fried onion flakes for texture. HALLWAY LIGHTING The motion sensors in e hallways of our building are installed to improve energy efficiency. These sensors provide e most efficiency when used wi light bulbs at are compatible wi e sensor technology. Unfortunately, e most energy efficient light bulbs do not work well wi motion sensors! Rita and our superintendents have consulted wi energy specialists, and are conducting a test of e lighting in 37 Ellen St. to determine e best way to use is technology. Once e results are known, adjustments will be made roughout e Nautica buildings. Poop and Scoop!!! Just a reminder to please be sure to take your doggie bags wi you and pick up after your dog.
