4 Pali Mountain Institute 74 acres of natural mountain wilderness near scenic Lake Arrowhead off of Highway 18 A complete outdoor education program aligned with Common Core Standards 24 hour supervision by fully qualified staff Over 40 Years of outdoor education experience and overnight Adventures

5 Outdoor Education Camp 3 day camp All activities take place onsite Broad range of science, teambuilding, and outdoor exploration

6 Teacher/Counselors Function as chaperones and instructors First Aid/CPR certification (RN on site 24/7) Fingerprinting and background checks ESD district standards

7 Animal Survivor Students learn the importance & dynamics of food chains/webs and how species depend on one another for survival

8 Freshwater Biology Analyze plants and animals unique to the lakes, rivers and streams and their specialized roles in the ecosystem

9 Under Pressure Students gain basic meteorological skills through hands on activities Explore the forces and factors that act upon our earth to create weather patterns Learn about 7 different weather tools Data collection Make a scientific forecast

10 Archery Students learn the history and mechanics of archery Proper handling and physics of a bow and arrow Target shooting

11 Forest Ecology Forest ecosystem Identify plants & animals Learn about the impact of forest fires and pests Emphasis on minimum impact and Leave no trace

12 Hiking/Orienteering 74 acre site surrounded by 2000 acres of forest guided hikes Wilderness safety and wildlife awareness

13 CSI: Pali Students explore the field of forensics Collect evidence Analyze fingerprints and shoe prints Work together to solve a mystery

14 Ropes Course Trained facilitators Safety is the top priority 3 different courses mean shorter lines Teambuilding

15 Astronomy and/or Night Hike During a night hike, students view the moon and the stars Use a telescope Discover the constellations Learn ancient legends

16 Owl Pellets Students will dissect an owl pellet to find bones, beaks and skulls. What animals do they belong to? It's up to the students to find out as we learn about the coolest birds of the night

17 The BIG questions Where will they stay? Who will they room with? What will they eat? What should they bring?

18 Housing Superior Cabins 10 to a cabin with 24 hours supervision Private bathrooms Radiate floor heating Chose 1 friend to room with

21 Departure Day Students drop off luggage in Sports complex parking lot between 7-7:30 am 1 duffel bag or suitcase 1 sleeping bag & pillow enclosed in plastic trash bag with name on it. Students report to Homeroom Class Buses depart at approximately 9 am

24 Daily Schedule 7:30am - Rise & Shine 8:00am - Breakfast 9am-12noon - Morning Sessions 12:15pm - Lunch 2pm-5pm - Afternoon Sessions 6:00pm - Dinner 7:30-9pm - Evening Activities

25 Camp Rules & Expectations Students will discuss and sign a Behavior Contract in class ALL school rules apply at camp Serious situations will warrant a parent phone call and/or dismissal from camp

26 Student Medications Prescription & Non-Prescription Medications-complete district medical form (yellow) and turn in medications to the health office Students are NOT allowed to carry or administer their own medications (Ex. Inhalers, Tylenol, Advil, Tums) All forms will be sent to camp two weeks prior to session. This will enable the camp counselors and Pali s RN to become familiar with the individual needs of their assigned students.

Sheet Medication Form (optional) Packing list (as we get closer to departure) $ EZ School pay, cash, money orders or checks are accepted OR make payments All completed forms and payments must be returned to student window no later than Friday, February 3, 2017

28 Arrival Home Depart from camp at approximately 10:30am Arrive at Heritage Intermediate at approximately 12:00pm Luggage will be in designated area for pick up Students will be dismissed at 1:00pm unless picked up earlier by parents
