3 Arrival & Check In All guests please check in at the Welcome Center upon arrival. Any balance is due at this time and may be paid with cash, check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard & Discover). Eagle Ridge Cabins Edlund Retreat Center Loon Lodge Check in begins at 1:00 pm on the 1 st day. Guests provide their own twin-sized bedding, towels and personal care items. Washrooms for cabins are located in a separate nearby building. Parking location will be provided during check-in at the Welcome Center. Edlund Guests: there is 1 double (full size) bunk in each room as well as the single bunks. Linen sets are available for Edlund & Loon guests for $10 per person additional. Sets include sheets, blanket, comforter, pillow & towels. Call camp in advance if you need linens and we will have the bed ready! Campground Guests Thursday (Extra Day) Check-in: 12:00 PM Friday (1 st Day) Check-in: 8:30 AM Mill Point, Cottonwood & Westwood sites are reserved by site number in advance. Lakeside camping area is on a first-come basis. Camp Store Located in the Lakeview Dining Hall, our Lake Beauty Camp Store has a variety of hats, shirts, sweatshirts & shorts, as well as gift and personal care items (toothbrushes, sun screen, lip balm, etc). Cash, check and credit cards accepted (Visa, MC, Discover). Hours listed in schedule. Canteen A variety of candy, ice cream treats, pop & water are available at the Canteen (Rec Center Porch Outside Window) during scheduled hours. 3

4 Chapel & Guest Speakers Morning and evening Chapel Sessions are offered each day, beginning with Friday evening s opening session. Closing session is Monday AM. May Kendall Carlson Lake Beauty welcomes Pastor Kendall Carlson to Family Camp. Kendall currently serves as senior pastor of Barnum Community Church in Northern Minnesota, but has long time ties with the Covenant. We look forward to what Kendall has to share with us from God s Word. July 1-4 Chuck Wysong Chuck comes to us from the Northern California city of Roseville where he serves as Pastor at Life Community Church. He also speaks to a wide variety of audiences including NFL & NBA chapels, school assemblies and other special occasions. Sept 2-5 Todd Slechta Todd Slechta is a gifted teacher and story teller with a love for God, His Word, and the people and stories of the Old Testament. Todd is VP of Operations for PeopleCare Health Services in Colorado. He loves life and the out of doors and lives in the Denver area with his wife Sheryl. Child Care Child Care (ages 0-3 yrs) is provided in our Family Camp Nursery during each Chapel session. Opens 10 minutes prior to Chapel. Children must be picked up no later than 10 minutes following Chapel. Kids Kamp Ages 4-11yrs may attend the opening segment of each session and are then dismissed for their own age-graded programming led by LBBC staff, current/former summer staff members, & selected volunteers. Free Campground Shuttle to Chapel A free shuttle service is 15 min before each Chapel session and passes through the various campground areas. 4

5 Emergency Info On Call Staff Cell (320) In the event of fire or medical emergency, call 911. Request Long Prairie service and tell them you are calling from Lake Beauty Bible Camp. Provide building location number (Lakeview Dining Hall: 25766). Let them know the nature of your call and where to go when they arrive. Smoke Detectors & Fire Extinguishers Retreat centers and cabins are equipped with smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors as specified by MN law. Fire extinguishers are located throughout the camp. In the event of a fire, ask LBBC Staff for assistance if you are unable to locate or properly operate an extinguisher. First Aid See Lake Beauty Staff if first aid is needed. We have a defibrillator, oxygen, backboards and splints available. A 24 hour Emergency Room is 12 minutes away at the Long Prairie Hospital ( ). Fire Rings & Firewood Everyone loves a campfire! Fire rings are available to our guests on a first-come basis. Request a fire ring when you check in at the Welcome Center. Staff will bring your ring to your campsite. Please do not build fires without a ring. Firewood is available again this summer at no cost for our Family Camp guests. Help slow the spread of tree damaging pests by leaving your own wood at home. Pick up wood at Welcome Center. Free Time Activities & Sign Ups Many weekend activities (Challenge Course, Horse Trail Rides, Paintball, Pontoon Lake Tour, Mountain Boards) are available by signing up the DAY BEFORE at the Welcome Center. Check front cover for Welcome Center hours each day. Note: Sign ups not required for last day s activities. Several Challenge Course elements will be open on a firstcome basis (will be announced in Chapel on last day). 5

6 Challenge Course (A variety of the following open daily by sign up) Low Ropes Sign up as a small group as you problem solve a number of specially designed elements to build teamwork skills. Pamper Pole Our 30 foot telephone pole where you get to climb to the top then jump off to hit the bell! A great mental and emotional challenge! Climbing Tower Climb our 30 foot tower on one of several progressively challenging rock-hold routes. Harnessed to a safety belay line, this is a personally challenging and rewarding experience. Zip Line One of our biggest Challenge Course thrills as participants leap off our 30 foot climbing tower harnessed to a 300 foot zip-line which stretches across a woodland valley. Giant s Web Scamper up the Giant s Web to touch all 9 colored objects! Giant s Ladder This is a great event for team climbing! Participants attempt to climb to the top of the Giant Ladder and ring a suspended bell. Trained LBBC facilitators are provided and required on ALL Challenge Course elements. Please respect Keep Off signs. Closed toed shoes work best! Advance sign up. Craft Hall/Art Studio (4 th of July Family Camp only) A variety of craft items are available to purchase and make. Craft Hall/Art Studio is located in the balcony of the Rec Center/Gym. Staff assisted. Horse Trail Rides Ride horseback with our wranglers across the meadow and through a network of wooded trails. Closed toed shoes and long pants are required. Sign up in advance. Two ride types available: Level 1 Kid s Rides $10 per participant (20-30 min). Each horse is led by their own parent (or staff member) along the meadow trail. One rider per horse. Level 2 Youth/Adult Rides - $15 per participant (45+ min). Group ride on the meadow & woodland trail with each rider on their own horse. Riders must be comfortable handling their own reins. 6

7 Mountain Boards Similar to snowboarding only on wheels! Mountain Boards are great for those who love skateboarding. Staff assisted. Safety pads and helmet provided. Sign up in advance. Paintball A ton of fun and a great memory-maker! $15 gets you an hour of play & 200 paintballs. Extra balls just $5 per 100. Only LBBC equipment allowed at camp. Open to all 10 yrs-adult (ages must play with a parent/guardian). Closed toed shoes required. Marker & mask provided. Pontoon Lake Tour Enjoy a leisurely cruise around Lake Beauty! Staff hosted. Life jackets provided. Room for 8+ guests per excursion. Sign up in advance. Sling Shots Great activity for kids and adults ages 8 & up! Try your hand at hitting a variety of fun hanging & fixed targets on our 2 frontier house fronts. Located west of the Welcome Center. Pick up Sling shots at Welcome Center during open hours. Other Free Time Activities Tubing on the Torpedo ($5 ea sign up at Welcome Center) Basketball Volleyball Carpetball GaGa Ball Four Square Disc Golf (check out gear from Welcome Center) Horseshoes Tether ball Bocce ball 9 Square 7

8 Ice & Water 5 lb cube ice purchase at Welcome Center. Water faucets in Westwood & Lakeside are located outside each washroom. Additional faucets located at Lakeview Dining Hall & Canteen Porch. Thank you for washing dishes outside buildings. Meals Meals are served buffet style in Lakeview Dining Hall. If you wish to purchase meals, please notify the Camp Office by Monday Noon before your family camp session begins. Call office or see Family Camp brochure for meal rates. See schedule or website for menu. Staff is available to assist parents with young children. A limited number of youth chairs are in the Dining Hall. Pets Pets are only allowed in the Family Campgrounds and must be kenneled or leashed at all times. Pet owners assume all feeding, watering and clean up responsibilities for their pet. Pets are not allowed in any camp building at any time (with the exception of service animals). Information on local/area kennels is available from the LBBC office: Picnic Tables Picnic tables are available one per family upon request from the Welcome Center. We will deliver your table to your camp site! Quiet Hours Quiet hours are from 11 pm to 7 am. We also encourage parents to be mindful of the whereabouts of younger family members, especially during these quiet hours. Thank you! Refuse, RV Dump Station, Smoking & Alcohol *Refuse can be placed in garbage or recycling containers located throughout the grounds (usually near bathroom buildings). *RV Dump Station is across from the Welcome Center near the Mill Pt. *Smoking permitted only in personal vehicles or outside camp buildings. *Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on our grounds. 8

Fresh baked goods Fun filled mystery boxes Pontoon excursion (during 4 th of July Fireworks) Proceeds go to Scholarship Fund and other designated projects LBBC 5K Trail Run/Walk: July 3 (Sunday) A new Lake Beauty tradition! Intermediate course for ages 13 yrs & up. No strollers. Help raise funds for Camper Scholarships. Full details and online registration at Fireworks 4 th of July Family Camp Our crowd pleasing fireworks display will on Saturday, July 2nd. Those with boats may choose to watch the display from the lake. All other guests must watch seated outside the designated firing area (identified by cones). Parents, please make sure you know where your children are during the display. We ask that there be no use of personal fireworks on the grounds. Please understand this policy is to help ensure the safety and comfort of all our guests. Pop, candy and treats will be for sale in the Concession Tent near Lakeview Dining Hall prior to the start of the Fireworks display. Talent/Skit Night (Memorial & Labor Day weekends) Do not miss this opportunity for you, your family and friends to ignite your personal or collective creativity! Sign up forms at the Welcome Center & Lakeview Dining Hall. Held in Pine Ridge Chapel. See schedule for time. Suggestions/Evaluations Your observations and opinions are sincerely appreciated. Please take the time to complete a Family Camp evaluation here at camp or online when you return home. Evaluations may be placed in the Lakeview Comments box or the Welcome Center. 10 Waterfront Guidelines Your safety and enjoyment are important to us. Please observe our basic waterfront guidelines. 1. Parents be aware that your children require proper supervision at the waterfront at all times. Swim at your own risk as lifeguards MAY NOT be on duty during all times this weekend. 2. Everyone using watercraft (Canoes, Kayaks, Paddle Boats) must wear a life jacket (available in the lakeside of the Beach House). Please return and hang up life jackets when you are done using them. Make sure the watercraft is pulled up out of the water (canoes, kayaks) or properly tied (paddle boats). 3. Operate all water craft outside the roped swim area. 4. No glass or pets on the swimming beach. 5. No throwing rocks/stones/sand. 6. No fishing in swimming area. Fishing only at fishing dock. 7. No docking/loading or unloading of personal watercraft in the swimming area or from the swimming beach docks. 8. Swimmers must stay within the roped area to avoid watercraft. 9. Observe watercraft load limitations. 10. Only 6 at a time on the Aqua Playground. Lifeguard or adult supervision is required whenever Aqua Playground is in use. 11. Night swimming is prohibited. 12. Please read & follow all additional posted guidelines at waterfront. Boating on Lake Beauty A public cement boat landing is located on the southeast corner of the lake exit out south camp entrance and turn left (@1/4 mile down road). Please remember to approach the camp s waterfront property slowly. While docking boats at the main beach area is prohibited, you may use the fishing docks to the south for loading and unloading. Thank you for not leaving boats unattended at the docks. You may use the Welcome Center grass parking area to park your boat during the night or whenever your boat is not used. Thank you for respecting others on the lake! 10

11 Way to Camp: Directions & Map Lake Beauty Bible Camp is located in Central MN 7 miles east of Long Prairie & 20 miles west of Little Falls. On MN Hwy 27, near mile marker 119, look for the brown road sign that reads: Lake Beauty Bible Camp. Come north 1 ½ miles on 315 th Ave (Lake Beauty Rd) and turn right on Hummingbird Road at the large Lake Beauty rock, just before the pavement ends. Continue a short distance to our sign & entrance turning left onto the gravel drive (Hummingbird Trail). Follow signs to the Welcome Center. Distance From Lake Beauty: 55 miles from Alexandria, Brainerd or St Cloud. 130 miles from the Mall of America/Twin Cities. 150 miles from Fargo/Moorhead. Map 11

12 Weather / Shelters The Camp Office & Staff monitor the weather on a regular basis and will make weather-related activity announcements in Chapel and at meals.
