3 THINGS TO BRING: 1. Sleeping bag or bedding sheets, pillow, blankets 2. Clothing: Plain everyday clothes. Bring a sweater, raincoat or poncho, and an extra pair of shoes 3. Toilet articles: towel, wash cloth, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. 4. Swimsuit, ball glove, camera and film, fishing pole, flashlight, etc. 5. Notebook, pencil and Bible VERY IMPORTANT Please do NOT bring: radios, TV s, CD or electronic devices, cell phones, electronic games, fireworks, knives, weapons, water guns, alcohol, illegal drugs, candy or food from home. Please write to campers at this address: Camper c/o Camp Carew 303 Hidden Bay Lane Makanda, IL OUR PURPOSE The purpose of our camping program is to provide a setting in which the Christian faith can be experienced in fellowship with others. We seek to help people deepen their awareness of God, each other, and the natural world by providing a camp program and a setting in which personal growth can take place. Our goal is that campers will strengthen their own sense of personal worth as well as their relationship to Jesus Christ and to others. Activities at Camp Carew are directed toward Christian community. Through group living in the small unit, campers and leaders are challenged to work, plan, play, study, sing, and worship together. Camp Carew is a mission of the Presbytery of Southeastern Illinois, a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and is accredited by the American Camping Association. Camp Carew is a member of the Presbyterian Church Camps and Conference Association. LOCATION Camp Carew is located on Little Grassy Lake, approximately 9 miles southeast of Carbondale, Illinois. From Interstate 57: Exit 54B at Marion and travel west on Hwy. 13 approx. 15 miles to the east side of Carbondale Turn left onto Giant City Rd. Travel south approx. 7 miles Turn left onto Little Grassy Rd (watch for brown sign) for 1/2 mile Turn right onto Hidden Bay Lane. Turn right into driveway marked Camp Carew. From Highway 51: Turn east onto Makanda Rd. for approx. 2 miles Veer slightly to the right onto Baptist Hill Rd. (at Makanda Boardwalk) Go approx. 2 miles (Baptist Hill Rd. will become S. Church Rd.) Turn left onto Giant City Rd at a T in the road, proceed 3.5 miles Turn right onto Little Grassy Rd. (watch for brown sign) for 1/2 mile Turn right onto Hidden Bay Lane

4 FEES AND REGISTRATION A $50.00 deposit is required upon registration for all camps. Checks should be made payable to Camp Carew. The balance of the fee is due by the first of the month of your chosen camp. Deposits are non-refundable. If you are requesting a scholarship, you must still include the $50.00 deposit. Read carefully and complete the registration form provided. Sign up the for the camp online thru the link at campcarew.org Camp Carew 303 Hidden Bay Ln. Makanda IL Please note: Each unit camp is limited to 16 campers, so register early! Early Registration Bonus: Registrations mailed by May 15th will receive a discount. $10.00 discount for week-long camps. $20.00 discount for first time campers (excluding day campers). $5.00 discount for C.I.T., L.I.T., Day and Mini camps. Limited scholarships may be available for camps. Please check with your local church or call the Camp Carew Office. REGISTRATION POLICY 1. ALL money including General horseback fees ($45) will be sent to the Camp Carew office in Makanda. 2. Deposits are $ Deposits received by May 15, 2018, will receive the early registration discount. 4. June camp fees must be postmarked by June 1, 2018 and July camp fees postmarked by July 1, 2018 or a $25 late fee will be charged. All General camp horseback fees should be sent to the Camp prior to camp. 5. There will be no end-of-summer billing. All fees must be paid as stated above. 6. Health and all other forms (completely filled out), should be brought to camp. 7. NO registration at the door until AFTER 4:00 pm on Sundays. 8. Campers registered by June 1 will receive a free camp shirt. 9. Each camp is limited to 16 campers. 10. Canteen is now in the cost of the camper fees. CANCELLATION POLICY 1. There is no refund on the $50 deposit % of camper fees can be refunded if a cancellation is made prior to the last two weeks before a camp begins. 3. The form will be sent to you with your registration materials. Please make sure it is completely filled out, signed, and bring form to camp. A NEW FORM MUST BE FILLED OUT EACH YEAR. ON FILE IS NO LONGER ACCEPTED! Campers can not be admitted to camp without completed forms! We recommend to parents and guardians that you have health insurance for the young people who come to camp. Please list your policy number or Medicaid number on the health forms. Camp Carew does not provide insurance coverage for campers. CAMP STARTING AND ENDING TIMES Most camps start at 4 pm on Sundays. Please register after 4 pm. The camp gates do not open until 4 pm on Sundays. The weekly camps end on Saturdays at 9 am. Mini camps begin on Sundays at 4 pm and end on Wednesdays at 1 pm. Day Camps are Monday through Friday from 9 am 4 pm. Please register after 8:30 am on the first Monday of Day Camp. *Additional fee if horseback riding... $ 45.00

6 Day Camp Day Camp is Monday through Friday for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Day Camp activities include swimming, hiking, games, Bible Study and lots of FUN! Campers will need to be dropped off at 9 a.m. and picked up at 4 pm daily... FEE: $ Mini Camp Mini Camp is a 3-day camp for children in 3rd and 4th grades who have little or no camping experience. The staff and counselors make a special effort to help the children feel at home, make new friends, and join in camp activities such as games, crafts, and Bible Study. Mini Camp meets Sunday at 4 pm through Wednesday at 1 pm... FEE: $ General Camp General Camp offers a little bit of everything for each camper. Activities include swimming, canoeing, hiking, Bible Study, crafts, horseback riding*, campfires, exploring, and outdoor living... FEE: $ *Additional fee of $40 M.A.D. Camp This camp focuses on music, art, and drama and allows camper of all levels to be creative while having fun. Some activities include drawing, painting, singing, performing, and a variety of other crafts.... FEE $ Horseback Camp This camp teaches campers the basics of horseback riding and equestrian care. It features regular camp activities and at least 4 hours of horse activities each day. The camp is for both Junior and Senior High campers.... FEE: $ High Adventure Camp This camp is for High School grade campers. This camp helps campers learn about nature and our environment; how to interact within it and also how to take care of it. Some activities are caving, canoe trips, hiking, special adventure trips, team-building, compass reading, and learning basic sailing skills.. FEE: $ Discovery Camp Discovery Camp is like a general camp but with special nature activities. Activities include hiking, astronomy, learning canoe skills, special trips, participating in nature study and more... FEE: $ Mission Work Camp Here s your chance to experience not only all the great activities that Camp Carew offers, but also to make an important difference in peoples lives. You will work on important projects at the camp and in the surrounding community. We will provide you with training and supervision to build, renovate and clean up! Check our webpage for specific project information. Have a blast and make a difference!... FEE: $ Counselors-in-Training The purpose of this program is to teach and discuss the responsibilities and duties of being a camp counselor. To qualify for this program, you should be entering the 11th grade or above, be an active member in your local church, demonstrate leadership skills, and be able to volunteer at least one other week during the summer.* Write or call the registrar for more information... FEE: $ Leaders-in-Training This is the second part of our leadership training program. To qualify you should have attended a session of Counselors-in-Training and be able to volunteer at least one other week during the summer.*... FEE: $ Staff Training Leadership Development is an important part of our camp s program. This event helps the summer camp staff improve their skills in planning and carrying out a good camp program. Call for details. *Please note that the volunteer week will be decided by the Program Director once the training week is concluded.
