1 Question 1 In terms of factors such as natural geographic barriers and homeowner s associations, what neighborhood areas should remain together and why? Lindmoor/Laurel Ridge/Medlock Commnity cohesive 10 Laurel Ridge PTA wants optional grandfathering for currently enrolled families 6 Valleybrook/Linmoor Woods (all n'hoods North of 78 over to 285 Pool, church, Boy Scouts at church next to LR feed from that area. Stay in LR districts) 6 Do the students at FBE have to be worry about being redsitricted out 5 Ditto for BE 5 Keep zones contigous 5 Medlock(move as a whole) Community events park/pool/ etc. tight knit Medlock & Laurel Ridge separated by N. Druid Hills no separation 5 Medlock Park should stay together in LR (5 in favor) 5 Lindmoor Woods border w/mclendon would like to stay nowhere else to go what is the County's planning for smaller neighborhood? Property Value is major consideration. I 285 expansion is coming to us projected 5 Medlock Park If it needs to be split, please keep it balaced with Clairmont Heights 4 Clairmont Heights area Superior and Willivee Medlock Park stay districted in Willivee One neighborhood divided in half but are one community that would like to stay together 4th/5th graders staying in 4 their school choice Laurel Ridge Pine Glen/Country Square walking distance 4 FB should stay PreK 5 it should not gain a 6th grade 3 FB: Did have recent change/ redistricting a long term approach to its integrity needs to be considered 3 PTAs decision Any grade Pre K and up should be given the choice 3 Clairmont Heights stay w/fernbank 3 Druid Hills Civic Association should not be splilt 2 Manor Walk Subdivision to stay intact and not be victimized by annexation 2 FBE and all other schools would like areas to have contigous attendance zones 2 Historic Druid Hills (Emory, Cornell, Harvard) 2 Willivee Dr seems like a flexible boundary w.r.t. this. (N. Druid to N. Decatur Willivee to Scott/L'ville Hwy) 2 Manor Walk remain at Laurel Ridge to avoide multiple moves. Decatur due to Annex 2 Camden Walk/Valleybrook Lindmoor Woods would like to stay together 2 Borders of Laurel Ridge: N. Druid Hills Rd, L'ville Hwy, Frazier, Pangborn, Railroad Track would like to community w/in together 2 Marquis Brookhaven (Reserve) Camerion Ct stay FB Lantern Ridge 2 Option to LR or FB stay (Medlock zone) 2 FB "diaspora" may return 1 Springdale Heights (portion E of Church, S of N. Decatur, next to COD, stay in LR input from n'hood picnic last night 1 Lindmoor Woods keep intact 1 Fernbank stay due to 2 previous recent redistricting moves 1 Ashford/Druid Hills Apt. Keep Valley Brook Civic Assocation together Briarwood Hills would like to be part of Fernbank Direct engagement with community civic association Emory U. is a natural division between FB and BV zones Brarcliff is a barrier (Fox 5 to Sage Hill) No sidewalks Walkers remain at same school Clairmont Height SP Forrest Hill Community tight knit Case for moving Springdale Heights from Laurel Ridge to Fernbank:Fernbank is geographically closer thank LR. LR is over capacity (badly) an expected to be more so with development on Church St., Druid Hills, Costco, 285.We are a self continued (dead end) neighborhood with many kids at the far corner of LR district Concerned that are neighborhood will be moved out of our elementary school district Fernbank. Don't disminish current Fernbank zone Property values in Lindmoor Woods are high because of LRES. Moving to McLendon would impact those values. DCSD Planning Department 10/10/2018 Page 2

3 Question 2 What traffic concerns do you have that may impact the safe and timely transportation of students to and from schools? Artwood Ponce light improvements. They would like a turn signal & sensor 6 Fernbank afterschool carpool lane will increase due school choice falls out into major rd (E Ponce) 4 Future projected roads/construction to accommodate added traffic 3 6 way intersectionat Scott Blvd. N Decatur 3 Children coming to Fernback via lottery are coming in by car they have not other choice. Don't feel more students can be taken in at this point 3 Fernbank keep balance for traffic 3 Allow siblings 4th &5th grandfathered in to remain in school w/older sibling 3 Increase choice #s priority to siblings & current kids 3 Carpool FB extends out to Artwood/Ponce it cannot handle much/any addl car traffic 2 LR zone/mp Briarvista too far LR/MP the drive to Fernbank toos busy/long 2 Emory shuttle if lost from North Dekalb Mall would impact Scott Blvd traffic 1 Resolve bottleneck at Valley Brook Rd & 78 consider its under DOT control 1 Consider Satelitte Buses to reduce traffic 1 From Medlock Park, VERY hard to get into LR across N Druid Hills in the PM very difficult traffic to navigate 1 Drive time vs. Distance 1 Commercial Developments entire square block by CHOA into N Druid Hills going all the way to Cliff Valley w/in 5 8 years 1 Likely people in Fernbank opting not to come back as a result of previous redistricting may start to come back 1 Percentage of School Choice to remain same let siblings have priority 1 Offer transportation for school choice in the cluster 1 North Decatur Rd traffic Briarcliff Road S of N Decatur Rd heavy traffic School Choice Traffic over Fernbank Carpool Going west from Springdale Heights is a not go along N Decatur & Scott Scott seems like a natural traffic boundary BV has carpool line extra capacity can accept more cars Moving walkers potential traffic issues Drive time rush hour am/pm including after care not just school end time No excessive bus time Give School choice sibling preference reduce traffic Scott Blvd inside Medlock area stay at Laurel Ridge Students whose familites had been moved due to the transitions from previous years may now decide to return creating a large inflx in traffic Medlock to LR is under 10 Medlock to Fernbank 20 min Scott Blvd traffic College ave through Avondale 5 lanes to 2 lanes Expanding 285 near Lynoor Woods DCSD Planning Department 10/10/2018 Page 3
