Johns From the President Hopefully by now you have joined in some of our activities. I am having a great time and love the variety. Your feedback has been very positive and myself and the Board have been working overtime to present you with all these great activities and social times. Please read about the upcoming events and trips that will be offered which really gives value to your NSC Membership. We are always open to suggestions and will take all comments into consideration. We are looking at a few one, two, and multiple day ski excursions for this winter. If you have suggestions please let us know. The Board approved the second position of Director at Large, to be a ski trip specific position with the focus on putting together ski trips. We would like someone to step forward and fill this position. We need to have a serious vote on the silent auction to donate monies to TAASC. No one has stepped forward to help with the auction this year. This is a club function and one person cannot do this by themselve. I am suggesting three options and need you to vote for one, please reply here: ednovak056@gmail.com 1- Yes I want to continue with the silent auction and I'm willing to help. 2 - No I do not want to continue with the auction. 3- I would be willing to donate a dollar amount in lieu of the auction to support TAASC. TAASC is a wonderful organization and you should visit their web site and learn more to help you decide how to vote. Majority will decide the outcome of the TAASC Silent Auction. On a positive note we have four new members and they joined us at the Papa Bo s pontoon night. Look for a future article introducing them. Our activities are driving new people to join us! 5 Summer Picnic Great Food Great Memories Great Friends It was really great to see some faces that we haven't seen for a while. The picnic was attended by 28 members and guests. We spent the afternoon enjoying great food, & recalling the antics of years past (know what we mean Mark M.) We also discovered that if you get into a corn hole game, heaven help you if Don Spires is on the other team. He has an eagle eye when it counts. We had beautiful weather and a fantastic time. I made Sandy promise that she will not run out next year, of the best fricken hamburgers on the planet (she has turned down millions for her secrete reciepe). Kudos to the Novaks & Spires for staying behind and cleaning up. You four are to be commended for pitching in to get it done. Sandy & I really appreciated the help. We are looking forward to hosting the picnic next year, so mark your calendars for some of the best burgers on earth. And brush up on your corn hole skills, so you don't go down 21 to 6. Mention you are a NSC Member at Aspen Ski & Board from August 18th thru October 1st and receive a Ski Tune-Up for JUST $10 (w/tax $10.70)! Aspen Ski & Board will be open for the season with a HUGE Summer Sale August 18th and 19th. This is their biggest sa index.php le of the year. Everything from last year is heavily discounted and everything new for the 2019 season will be 25% off. Then, they will be open 7 days a week from that point on w/20% Off Apparel. Why should you visit Aspen? Tim Crowley puts it this way, While I have been out soliciting donations for the silent auction, I was made aware of Aspen Board and Ski 20th summer sale on Saturday, August 18. As many of our longtime members already know, Aspen has a $10 ski and board tuneup special every fall. From the summer sale until the end of September you can have your skis tuned up for only $10 with one of those dollars being donated to TAASC. They tell me that this special generates thousands of dollars for TAASC. With as much support as Aspen Board and Ski has shown us over the years I hope that our members can return the favor by visiting the shop and thanking them for their support of the Newark ski club.
