Dave was not at the meeting, and no one attending the meeting thought they could go. Sylvia, our CNSA North State Rep put out an and a letter in SnowTracks which included some things from our Club.... 5 Minutes - 02/13/04 - continued... 1) Klamath: 2) Shasta/Trinity: 3) Modoc: Due to the number of snowmobile accidents across the country, we are all encouraged to use caution especially in observing the 15MPH speed limit around concentrations of people and in parking areas. The snow depth at Medicine Lake is about five and a half feet and ten inches at Doorknob Snowmobile Park. On Thursday trails from 4-Corners Snowmobile Park on Road 15 to Road 77 and to Road 49, south to County Road 97, to and around Lyons Loop, across Arnica Sink, and back to 4-Corners Snowmobile Park. OHMVR: Having a meeting on February 21st in Sac to see what grant criteria should be. There is talk that the Commission will be fazing out the winter programs. This is a good time to talk about what we can do to help fund our grooming program. Eileen has looked into tuning our four trailheads into State Snow- Parks. There are currently 21 of them and they charge $25 for a parking permit. These funds go back into the SnowParks for plowing and maintenance. Through a process, we could change our trailheads into SnowParks and receive funding from the parking permits. Eileen feels this is a risk and there is a chance we could lose one or more of our trailheads to snowmobiling. Others attending the meeting felt the same. The other idea would be to have our Tri-Forest area have it s own Parking Permit program. We ll have to look into this further. Will discuss more at the March meeting. CNSA: CNSA is working on a fee program, groomed trail fee. The Silver Bear Trail System has gone to a volunteer trail pass sticker to pay for grooming. So far it s working great and they ll be able to groom the rest of the season. Other areas are trying this too. Safety: Nothing to report. Public Relations: Nothing to report. Medicine Lake Projects (Dick Cowardin & Eileen Maier): Nothing going on this season. Mercy Air Ambulance (Barbara McPherson): The notices are being mailed directly to the members now. For more information call Barbara at 530/ Adopt-A-Highway (Dick Holcomb & Bill Willison): Correspondence from the State regarding Keep California Beautiful, We need to have a clean up in March, April or May and turn in a report. Since neither of our Chairs attended the meeting, we ll have to set a date later. Memorial Plaque for Chuck: We have $ donated to the plaque. This includes $53.29 donated by Dick Cowardin for the cost of the newsletter for Nov. We need $ so we are still taking donations. Molly and Doc Elgin donated the $31.43 we needed to meet our goal. So the Plaque is paid for! Thank you so much Molly and Doc! Thank you everyone! Wilderness Intrusions: Please be aware of the wilderness and stay out! I sent Ed a picture I took up by Gravel Creek that had three wilderness signs going up one draw. Ed said that the yellow signs are warring signs only. Also, we ve heard that this summer, the Mt. Shasta wilderness area will be surveyed. Xmas Tree Farm: Will groom if the conditions and timing is right. Club s Search/Rescue Program: No news to report. Moving Club s Shed: No news to report.
