The weather has been cooperating for the most part as of late, I hope you have all been out enjoying the weather. I know I have been! We have an activities meeting scheduled the first Thursday in June, to plan out the activities and events for the remainder of the year. If you have a favorite place or ride destination let us know and we will do our best to get it on the calendar. Don t worry if you can t make the meeting, send an to activities@bvhog.com or any officer, and we will see how we can work it into the schedule. There are a couple of great all day rides coming up in the next month. The first one is a day ride to Americade Touring Rally in Lake George NY, always a great ride. The second is a day ride to the Laconia Bike Week Rally in the Lakes Region of NH. So if you want to do some serious riding put one of these (or both) on your calendar of things to do. Tickets are available for the Annual Chapter Barbeque, which will be held during the August Chapter meeting. Tickets are only five dollars and we have a local barbeque catering the event. In addition, we are planning a Chapter photo and we will begin taking nominations for primary officers at this meeting, with final nominations to be made at the September meeting. Don t forget to get your room and sign up for the Iron Adventure Run that will be going on at Sunday River in Maine this year. It looks like it s gonna be a great regional rally. 2 Head HOG (continued) We have a couple of ideas so far, but are still looking for suggestions for destinations to fly the flag this year for the Nation of Patriots ride. The rides will be near end of August, so we do have a little time but let s not wait much longer. Second to last, don t forget to get your mileage verified for Harley's Ride 365 program ESPECIAL- LY if you re going to Americade, Laconia, or the rally! One last thing for this month, don t forget if you live in Rhode Island, your bike needs to be inspected by the end of JUNE. 3 Deputy HOG I don t know about anyone else, but I love this time of year for riding! It s not too hot & mostly not too cold. Some of the destinations we ve had so far have been great! And we ve had a couple of firsts Road Captain Rick Phillips led his first ride. A dinner ride to Alberto s turned into a dinner ride to Home Plate in Norton. Well done! And Dave Miller led us on our first ride to Polly s Pancake Parlor. Awesome scenery through NH and across the Kangamagus. Everyone had a great time and I think most would agree this should be an annual event. There are many more events scheduled including the Iron Adventure Rally on Aug 2nd- 4th. Remember that you have to register on members.hog.com even after you get a room for the event. And you should consider the dinner package so you re not searching for places to eat while you re up there. I ve been told there are still rooms available for Friday & nights on the Sunday River property so give them a call. It still amazes me that whether we have new people ride with us or it s the same people we ride with every week, everyone enjoys each other s company and love for riding. And that is what Blackstone is all about.ride, ride, ride and have a good time! I know it is sometimes difficult to get out every weekend and ride with the group, but do yourself a favor and try to take a little you time. 8 Over the shoulder...a peek at some recent events!! With riding season in full swing, we have had a busy month (a handful of rainy day cancellations notwithstanding)! Among the events was a showing at the annual South Shore HOG Memorial ride to show our support to a sister-chapter on May 20 with Pete Carlson leading the deputation this year. May 26 was a gorgeous sunny day, and Pete again led us on a ride to the Buzzards Bay Brewery in Westport MA. We had 9 bikes and 12 people attend. We went on a really nice ride with some excellent water views through Attleboro, Seekonk, Rehoboth, Swansea and Somerset to start with, and made a lunch stop at Family Ties in Tiverton as it seemed food choices were not likely to be in abundance at the brewery! On to the brewery by way of Horseneck Beach, it was an absolutely beautiful ride, and a great day with great friends!! Thanks Pete! Alberto s / Home Plate 5/30/18 by Rick Phillips: I was reflecting recently on my very first ride with Blackstone (it was a Poker run), and all the great rides to follow: charity rides, the roads, the scenery, and best of all riding the Kancamagus Highway in NH with Blackstone. Now another great thing has happened since joining Blackstone almost 2 years ago. I have become a Road Captain. I led my first ride on May 30, 2018 to the Home Plate in Norton, MA for dinner on a beautifully warm evening. We were originally going to go to Alberto s but there was a big concert event nearby, so we decided to make a change of venue. I was nervous, but I received so much love and support for my first ride. We had 15 bikes and 18 people show up, with two more meeting us at the restaurant for a total of 20. Everyone made it special and I thank you all. Hope to see you all on my next ride in July!!

9 Did Somebody Say Pancakes?!?!?! On, 6/2 we started part one of a 2-day special event, our inaugural ride to Polly s Pancake Parlor in Sugar Hill, NH. Part one was to get to The Lodge at Lincoln Station in Lincoln, NH. We left ManMar at 8AM, led by Dave Miller, and thankfully the weather gods were smiling on us. The whole week leading up to it we were looking at possibly stormy weather with the remains of (hurricane? Tropical storm?) Alberto. But the day dawned sunny and hot, albeit muggy as all-get-out. Dave told us we were in for a good day of riding and he wasn t kidding. He expected to get to our destination by 5PM!! After eating about a pound of pollen each along the way, we got sprinkled on for abut 5-10 minutes just before stopping for a fantastic lunch at the 110 Grille in Rochester, NH By the time we finished and got back on the road, it was bright and sunny again and stayed that way the rest of the day. We headed way north, eventually into Fryeburg Maine, so that we could then ride back south down the Kancamagus Highway into Lincoln. Holy cow, that was beautiful and so much fun! We ve ridden that road before, some of us many times, but man that stuff just NEVER gets old!! We stopped briefly at one of the scenic overlooks for a group photo, and continued on our way. We got to the Lodge at about 5:45, checked in, cleaned up, and met for dinner at the very nearby Gordi s Fish and Steakhouse. Deliciousness!!! Then it was back to the hotel to sit on the deck and chat awhile, and get some sleep for day two.

10 Polly s Pancake Parlor, Sugar Hill, NH... Sunday again dawned bright and sunny but somewhat chillier than. It was supposed to top out in the upper 60s for the day, so you can imagine the cool at 8AM in the mountains. But as Diane said earlier, slightly cooler days make for some of the absolute best riding. We headed a few miles further north to Polly s Pancake Parlor for breakfast. They say that this place is a serious destination and always packed to the gills. This was not proven untrue, but it was WELL worth it. Another photo op, and we were on our way home, the very long, most excellent way. Well, most of us anyway; Rusty and Patty, and Joe A & Karen split off early to continue traveling to Lake George to hit up Americade for a few days. We got home tired, dirty, and somewhat sunburnt (Henri) at about 6PM, some 523 miles later. When we say we re a hard-riding chapter we are NOT KIDDING! And as you can see, some of us don t just ride our bikes!! This was an absolutely perfect weekend and we can t thank Dave Miller enough for putting the routes together and getting us There and Back Again like good little Hobbits (sorry geeked out for a minute there but I m back now). Can t wait to do this one again!!
