This publication can be viewed on line at Assessors spent the first part of the week visiting various parts of the agency as we go through out national reaccreditation process with CALEA. During the out brief, they both spoke of how impressed they were with our operations. Sgt. Syd Whitehouse s shift delivered these toys to a family in need in Key Largo. Here are pig cookers Don Hiller, Patrick McCullah and Donnie Catala. Major Crimes Detective Manny Cuervo received his sergeant s stripes in advance of his retirement in January. We will miss you, Manny! The pig roast crowd gave him a standing ovation at the announcement of his retirement from the agency.

2 Animal Farm Christmas Many Sheriff s Office families came to the farm for Christmas; the farm had a total of 886 visitors for the Christmas party this year. Farmer Jeanne sends her thanks to all who helped out this year with the event. Weekly Rap Up - Page 2

3 Sugarloaf School Principal Harry Russel and School Superintendent Mark Porter gave School Resource Sgt. Glenn Test an award this week for all the time he has dedicated both to the school and to the district in his time in the SRO Unit. They also presented Sheriff Rick Ramsay with an award for his support of Safety Day at the school and his support of the community as a whole. Deputy Jenna Moeller and her dog Shakes received top honors from the SPCA for their extremely successful campaign to raise money for that worthy cause. Deputy Moeller would like to thank everyone who contributed to Shakes campaign for King. Deputies Shannon O Connell, Vincent Torres and Boyd Williams teaching girl scouts about first aid and what to do at an emergency before first responders arrive. 4 The Marathon District had their formal inspection with the infamous Colonel Lou Caputo doing his inspection thing. Deputy Rosary Ponce forgot her driver s license and tried to use someone else s - but the sharp eyed Colonel busted her. Everyone was looking sharp, though and passed their yearly dress inspection with flying colors. Deputies Joshua Baer and Jamie Buxton tackling some very large graffiti under the Vaca Cut Bridge. Sgt.s Yunier Galvez and Eric Mixon cleaned up graffiti in Islamorada this week. Deputies Donald Stulken and Jennifer Ettish cleaned up an area on Sugarloaf Key where kids like to hold parties, on Old Papy Road off of Sugarloaf Boulevard. Weekly Rap Up - Page 4

Cleanup 12/19 The Rotary Club of Key Largo will be conducting its quarterly highway clean up Monday 12/19/2016 at MM 106 Circle K at 1630 hrs..it usually takes approximately 1 hour if anyone wants to participate. Bridge Run applications available If you are interested in running the 7 Mile Bridge Run please make contact with Captain Gene Thompson at the Marathon Substation or via . He will need the application back by Jan 18th at the latest. (no exceptions) as the race organizers have to have an exact count. Please share this information with Law enforcement only. 14 4 th Annual Layton Community Clean Up The Layton Garden Club, City of Layton, and the Monroe County Sheriff s Office are planning a community clean up January 21, :00 A.M. The Streets targeted for the clean up are South Layton Drive, Long Key Lake Drive, and one mile on both sides of the City s US One Corridor, especially along the bike path. We Need Your Help to make this event successful!!! Everyone is Welcome to participate. Please consider donating your time, golf cart, mechanical tongs or anything else you may think would be helpful. We will be providing disposable gloves, trash bags, drinking water and hand sanitizer. Join us at the front of the fire house at MM 68 oceanside at 8:00 a.m. We will be serving coffee in the morning and Grilled burgers and hotdogs will be served after the work is done.
