Market Street Washington C.H., Ohio (740) JANUARY NEWS Last updated 01/31/ VEHICLE FIRE Michael Larie, Jeffersonville states that while driving on US 35 his vehicle caught fire. Upon stopping the vehicle the fire extinguished itself. Washington CH Fire Department responded and checked the vehicle to ensure the fire was out. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. TRAFFIC CRASH: Mindy L. Campbell of Greenfield, Ohio was traveling southbound near 6647 Limes Rd. when Ms. Campbell failed to maintain control of her motor vehicle on the ice covered roadway. Campbell traveled left of center off of the east side of the roadway, striking the ditch / embankment. The vehicle suffered moderate damage. No injuries were reported THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE: Donald Barker of Jeffersonville, Ohio reported person unknown had stolen his motor vehicle while parked at Main and High Street in Jeffersonville CRIMINAL TRESPASS, CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Ralph Fast of Washington CH, Ohio reported sometime overnight persons unknown trespassed on his rental property, and damaged the front door to the residence HOUSE FIRE Harlena Best, of Greenfield, reported throughout the day they had noticed smoke and electrical issues in the residence. Later she observed smoke coming from the attic vent. Wayne Twp, Concord-Green, Paint Twp Highland Co, Washington CH Fire Departments responded along with Fayette Co EMS. The fire was located and extinguished TRAFFIC CRASH: Berry Cooperstein of Cincinnati, Ohio was traveling west on S.R 435. Cooperstein while making a left turn onto Interstate 71 failed to yield oncoming traffic causing a collision with a vehicle traveling east on S.R 435 operated by Brooke Merritt. Occupant of Copperstein s vehicle was transported by EMS to a medical facility for treatment of injuries. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. Cooperstein was cited for Failure to Yield. TRAFFIC CRASH: Matthew Craig of Washington CH, Ohio was traveling north on S.R 41 and lost control of his vehicle. Craig traveled off the right side of the roadway into the ditch striking a road sign. Craig continued striking a fence before coming to rest. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene

2 TRAFFIC CRASH: Jordan Woods of Leesburg, Ohio was traveling south on S.R 38 and lost control of his vehicle. Woods traveled off the left side of the roadway into the ditch overturning before coming to rest. Woods was transported by Ems for treatment of injuries. The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. TRAFFIC CRASH: Robert Bohl of Cincinnati, Ohio was traveling north on Interstate 71 and lost control of his vehicle on inclement roadways. Bohl traveled off the right side of the roadway into the ditch striking a fence. No injuries were reported SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: The Fayette County Sheriff s Office is currently investigating a shooting that hospitalized a man on Wednesday evening. The report was received at 7:55 p.m. According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, his office received a call from the Fayette County Memorial Hospital reporting that a male subject walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Marcus J. Francis, age 31, of Washington Court House was treated at Fayette County Memorial Hospital and later transferred to a Columbus area hospital for further treatment. The investigation revealed that Francis, a passenger in a 1998 Ford Explorer registered to the vehicle s operator, Carrie Mitchell of Washington Court House, arrived at a residence located at 315 Clemens Road, southwest of the Village of New Holland. Upon pulling into the driveway, it was reported that multiple gunshots were discharged into the passenger door area of the vehicle, allegedly striking Francis in the leg and hand area. Following the incident, Mitchell reportedly drove Francis to the Fayette County Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. Deputies responded to the residence along with detectives from the Sheriff s Office, identifying the occupants of the home and initiating an investigation. Sheriff s detectives conducted several interviews throughout the overnight hours. Cary L. Howland, Age 31 of London, Ohio was arrested and incarcerated in the Fayette County Jail on a charge of violating his probation and is considered a person of interest in the reported shooting incident, however no charges have been filed in connection with last evenings incident. Sheriff s detectives are continuing their investigation of the incident and additional information will be released as it becomes available TRAFFIC CRASH Tifani Leisure, Washington CH, reports that she was east bound on US 22 near Bush Rd, when she lost control of the vehicle on the snow covered roadway, traveling off the north side of the roadway into the ditch where she struck a utility pole. TRAFFIC CRASH: Andrew Fahy of Hilliard, Ohio was traveling south on US Route 62 North near West Road and lost control of the vehicle. Fahy traveled off the right side of the roadway striking ditch, continuing on striking a fence. No injuries. The vehicle sustained minor damage in the crash. Fahy was cited for Failure to Control. TRAFFIC CRASH: Marc Mayorga of Parker, Colorado was traveling west on old US 35 near Boyd Road and lost control of the vehicle. Mayorga traveled of the left side of the roadway into the ditch overturning. No injuries. The vehicle sustained moderate damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. Investigation pending. TRAFFIC CRASH: Curtis Cruse of Union Township, Ohio while exiting a private drive on US 22 failed to yield for traffic on US 22. Cruse traveled into the west bound lane of travel and was struck by a vehicle operated by Kelsey Jones of Washington CH, Ohio. No injuries were reported. Both vehicle sustained moderate damage in the crash and were towed from the scene. Cruse was cited for Failure to Yield from a private drive

3 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Jeffery Wilson, Bloomingburg, states that while he was at a friend s residence his live-in girlfriend, Anna Conger, entered the residence and struck him several times in the face. The suspect departed prior to the arrival of the Deputies. The victim had obvious signs of physical injuries. The suspect was later located and arrested. BURGLARY / THEFT / CRIMINAL DAMAGING - Robert Parker, New Holland reports that person(s) unknown had forcibly entered his residence and removed property without permission CRIMINAL DAMAGING/ CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Mark Clemans of Mt Sterling, Ohio reports person(s) unknown entered onto his property and attempted to gain entry into a barn. Clemans reported no items stolen at report time. BURGLARY / THEFT Joshua Graf, Washington CH reports that person(s) unknown had forcibly entered his residence and removed property without permission. INJURY TRAFFIC CRASH: Casey Rushing of Greenfield, Ohio while traveling north on Beatty Rd lost control of the vehicle on snow covered roadway while negotiating a right curve. Rushing traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a utility pole. Rushing along with occupants of the vehicle was transported by EMS for treatment of injuries. Vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. Rushing was cited for Failure to Control. TRAFFIC CRASH: Jennifer Coil of Washington CH, Ohio was traveling north on Jasper Coil Rd. Coil lost control of the vehicle on snow covered roadway traveling off the left side of the roadway striking a tree. No injuries were reported. Vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. Coil was cited for Failure to Control TRAFFIC CRASH: Brian Pelton of Leesburg, Ohio was traveling north on Stafford Rd. Pelton lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a left curve on snow covered roadway. Pelton traveled off the right side of the roadway striking fence. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained minor damage in the crash. INJURY TRAFFIC CRASH: Allison Hormann of Jamestown, Ohio was traveling east on Old US 35. Hormann lost control of her vehicle on inclement roadways traveling off the right side of the roadway overturning. Hormann was transported by EMS to a medical facility for treatment of injuries. The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. BURGLARY/ THEFT: David Cockerill of Washington CH, Ohio reports person(s) unknown entered his residence and removed items from inside the home. SEARCH WARRANT: Members of the Fayette County Sheriff s Office, assisted by the Washington Court House Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence located at 912 Willard Street in Washington Court House following an investigation into reported drug trafficking from the home. According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, members of the Sheriff s Tactically Armed Response team (S.T.A.R.) executed the warrant late Friday morning at 11:42 a.m. An occupant in the residence, later identified as William R. Ferguson, age 23 of Washington Court House, fled on foot from the rear door of the residence as deputies were making entry at the front. Deputies and police officers on the perimeter of the residence gave chase, apprehending Ferguson after a short foot chase, said Sheriff Stanforth. While fleeing on foot, Ferguson was observed by law enforcement officers throwing something into the back yard of the home. Investigators discovered that Ferguson discarded several bills of U.S. currency

4 while fleeing. Once the residence was secured, it was determined that Ferguson was the only occupant at the residence at the time of the search warrant execution. Sheriff s detectives conducted a search of the residence, locating heroin, marijuana, and articles of drug paraphernalia, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. Ferguson was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was incarcerated in lieu of bond, charged with Trafficking in Heroin (within 1000 feet of a school), Trafficking in Marijuana (within 1000 feet of a school), Obstructing Official Business, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia TRAFFIC CRASH: Michael Jackson of Cincinnati, Ohio was traveling southbound on I-71 just north of mile post #75 when Jackson failed to maintain control of his motor vehicle. Jackson traveled off of the east side of the roadway, striking the median, causing Jackson s vehicle to roll several times before coming to rest. Jackson suffered non-life threatening injuries resulting from the crash, and was transported by squad to Fayette County Memorial Hospital. TRAFFIC CRASH: Austin Barker of Grove City, Ohio was traveling on U.S 35 west bound on the off ramp to S.R 435. Barker was unable to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of S.R 435 due to inclement roadways. Barker s vehicle slid into the path of a vehicle traveling east on S.R 435 operated by Pamela McDaniel of Jeffersonville, Ohio causing a collision. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles sustained minor damage in the crash. Barker was cited for Failure to Yield. TRAFFIC CRASH: Anthony Sparks of Minford, Ohio while exiting U.S 35 off ramp to S.R 435. Sparks slid through the stop sign at intersection striking a guardrail. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained minor damage in the crash. Sparks was cited for Failure to Control BURGLARY, THEFT: Taryn Eggleton of Washington CH., Ohio reported during the evening hours persons unknown entered her residence, and removed several items BREAKING & ENTERING/THEFT: Carl Mullen of Washington C.H., Ohio reported that person(s) unknown forcibly entered a detached garage and removed tools and other various items from the garage FIRE Sean Ripp, Sackets Harbor, NY reported a fire that started inside a car hauler trailer containing his 1965 Ford Mustang. He stated that when he loaded it in Cincinnati earlier in the evening there had been a small fire that he believed had been extinguished. Upon arriving at the North Bound Rest Area he found the fire rekindled. Jefferson Township Fire Department responded to the scene. Mr. Ripp had already extinguished the fire prior to their arrival. DRUG ARREST: A 47 year-old Greene County man has been arrested and remains in the Fayette County Jail, charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs following a traffic stop in northwest Fayette County on Monday afternoon. According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, sheriff s deputy Clint Sines and K-9 unit Ben conducted a traffic stop on S.R. #41NW near Civic Drive at 4:26 p.m. Monday afternoon for a traffic violation. According to the report, Deputy Sines reportedly detected an odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice, was identified as Kevin A. Jones, Age 47 of Xenia, Ohio. Jones was requested by the deputy to exit the vehicle and further investigation led to the discovery of packaged contraband located on Mr. Jones, later testing presumptively as crack cocaine and marijuana. An undisclosed amount of U.S. currency was also located during the traffic stop. Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Fayette County Jail where he was incarcerated in lieu of bond. Mr. Jones was served by deputies with formal notice of intent to seize

5 his money and vehicle, said Sheriff Stanforth. Jones is scheduled to appear before the Washington C.H. Municipal Court on Tuesday morning to answer to the charges INSECURE LOAD William Pyers, South Solon, reported he attempted to connect his semi-tractor to a trailer and upon pulling away the trailer disconnected from the fifth wheel and fell to the ground, blocking SR 38. A towing service was summoned to remove the vehicle from the roadway. Mr. Pyers was cited for an unsecured load. THEFT / WANTED PERSON - While checking on a reported disturbance on Dayton Ave, near the Washington C.H. city limits, a vehicle matching the complaint was located. One of the occupants Timothy Leach, stated that another person, who he could not name, stole money from him. Upon checking all the occupants for warrants it was learned that Timothy Leach had an outstanding warrant out of Ross County. Leach was transferred to Ross County authorities. DRUG PARAPHENALIA A Deputy made contact with a suspicious person on the railroad tracks on SR 38 at Dennis Street. Upon contact, the subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. A warrant check also found an outstanding Warrant for Failure to Appear. Jeffrey Nebbergall was arrested in the incident WANTED PERSON While checking a suspicious person in the 800 block of Delaware St., a warrant check confirmed that the subject, Courtney Newland, had an outstanding warrant from Highland Co. The subject was arrested and transferred to Highland Co. CRIMINAL DAMAGING: Don Bradshaw of Washington CH, Ohio reports person(s) unknown caused damage to the tires of his vehicle. THEFT Management at Woodbury Outfitters reported that they observed one of their employees stealing merchandise from the business. Blade Moore, Washington CH, was subsequently arrested for theft THEFT / WANTED PERSON - While checking on a reported disturbance on Dayton Ave, near the city limits, a vehicle matching the complaint was located. One of the occupants Timothy Leach, stated that another person who he could not name had stolen money from him. Upon checking all the occupants for warrants it was learned that Timothy Leach had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Ross Co. The suspect was transferred to Ross Co. TRAFFIC CRASH: Aaron Choumphonkeokiengka of Columbus, Ohio was traveling north on Interstate 71 near Milepost 61 and lost control of his vehicle. Choumphonkeoliengka struck the left side of another vehicle traveling north on Interstate 71. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage in the crash. Choumphonkeoliengka was cited for Failure to Control. GASOLINE THEFT The management at One Stop 22 reported that a subject pumped fuel into their vehicle and departed without making payment. TRAFFIC CRASH - Keith Danko, Jeffersonville, reports that he was attempting to make a left hand turn from Bloomingburg-New Holland Rd onto Yeoman Rd, when he lost control of the vehicle on the snow covered roadway. The vehicle traveled off the roadway into the ditch where it stuck a DP&L utility pole and AT&T junction box. Danko was cited for failure to control.

6 TRAFFIC CRASH Darren Summers, Camdenton, Mo. reports that he had parked his semi-tractor trailer rig (car carrier) on the lot of the Loves Truck Stop, when another truck operated by Teddy McConnell, Moulton, Alabama backed into the parking space directly behind Summers vehicle. McConnell s trail then struck a vehicle loaded on Summers trailer causing damage to the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander. TRAFFIC CRASH Kathy Jackson, an employee of DP&L reports she parked a company truck in the driveway of a residence on Old US 35while she was reading the meter at the residence. The homeowner then backed out of his garage and struck the DP&L truck. Minor damage was sustained to both vehicles. TAKING THE IDENTIY OF ANOTHER Douglas Robinson, Bloomingburg reports that he attempted to have utilities switched into his name at his parent s residence. He was informed by AT&T, DP&L and TWC that his information had been used for other accounts and that there were outstanding balances on these accounts. Mr. Robinson states he has never had service from these companies in the past at any location CRIMINAL DAMAGING Peter Jones, Frankfort, Oh., reports that person(s) unknown had driven through the front yard of his property on Rowe Ging Rd and had damaged his water well. FATAL HOUSE FIRE: Several Fayette & Madison County Fire Departments battled a house fire that claimed the life of a Fayette County resident. The fire, reported Tuesday afternoon at 1:18 p.m., occurred at the home of Ronald & Lori Helsel located at 8428 S.R. #38 NE, Bloomingburg, Ohio. According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, a passing motorist contacted the Sheriff s Office and reported observing heavy smoke coming from the residence. Fire personnel from the Bloomingburg Paint-Marion Twp Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and upon arrival, reported a working structure fire, calling additional fire departments for mutual aid. Sheriff Stanforth and deputies arrived on scene and had contact with a family member of the homeowners in an adjacent dwelling who reported that the Helsel s son may be inside the home. Firefighters fought the blaze for several hours to contain the fire and initiate an interior search. Approximately 6:45 p.m. Tuesday evening, firefighters located the body of 23 yearold Joshua G. Helsel inside the residence. Fayette County Coroner Dr. Dennis Mesker pronounced Helsel dead at the scene. Members of the Ohio State Fire Marshal s Office were called to the scene to assist in the investigation and report that the fire does not appear suspicious in nature. Bloomingburg Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Pic-A-Fay (New Holland), Jefferson Township, and Washington Court House Fire Departments from Fayette County and the Range Township and Central Township Fire Departments from Madison County. Also assisting at the scene were members of the Fayette County E.M.S. and Fayette County Emergency Management Agency. Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the Helsel family. The Bloomingburg Paint-Marion Township Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal s Office are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE Dawn Seay, Jeffersonville states that she started her vehicle and left it running outside her residence to warm up. Upon returning to the vehicle 10 minutes later, she found her vehicle missing. TRAFFIC CRASH Bethany Allen, Washington CH, reports that she was south bound on Jasper Coil Rd when she lost control of the vehicle on the snow covered roadway. She traveled off the left side of the roadway where she struck a mailbox at 801 Jasper Coil. Allen was cited for failure to control

7 OBSTRUCTING OFFICIAL BUSINESS While on patrol a Deputy observed a male subject who appeared to be suspicious, when the Deputy attempted to make contact with the subject he fled on foot. A short time later the subject was located and at that time gave a false name. The subject was subsequently identified and found t have several outstanding warrants. Conaway was arrested on the above charge in addition to the outstanding warrants TRAFFIC CRASH: Wesley D. Fleak of Washington CH, Ohio was traveling southbound on Leesburg Ave. approaching Wagner Way when Fleak failed to maintain assure clear distance ahead, striking a vehicle in the rear, operated by George E. Stone Jr. of Jeffersonville. Stone s vehicle was pushed forward into the rear of another vehicle operated by Victoria M. Cardenas of Washington CH. Cardenas was attempting a left hand turn onto Wagner way at the time of the crash and was awaiting oncoming traffic. The vehicles suffered moderate damages. No injuries were reported. Fleak was cited for assure clear distance ahead. TRAFFIC CRASH: Palak Painter of Columbus, Ohio was traveling eastbound on S R 435 when Painter failed to yield to oncoming traffic while making a left hand turn onto Allen Rd. Painter s vehicle struck a westbound vehicle operated by Louis G. Smith of Jeffersonville. The vehicles suffered moderate damages. No injuries were reported. Painter was cited for failure to yield. THEFT: Shawna N. Vernon of Washington CH, Ohio reported persons unknown removed cash from her purse while giving them a ride to Jeffersonville. BURGLARY, THEFT: Douglas Parks of New Holland, Ohio reported sometime within the past two weeks persons unknown forced entry to his residence, and removed several items TRAFFIC CRASH: Jessica Martin of Jamestown, Ohio was traveling south on Jeffersonville West Lancaster road. Martin stopped at the posted stop sign at the intersection of S.R 435. Martin continued across S.R 435 into the path of Caitlyn Quickert who was traveling east on S.R 435 causing a collision. Martin sustained no injuries from the crash. Quickert was transported to medical facility for treatment of injuries. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. TRAFFIC CRASH: Desiree Medley of Washington CH, Ohio was traveling northbound near 1970 Bogus Rd. when Medley failed to maintain control of her motor vehicle on the snow and ice covered roadway. Medley s vehicle traveled off of the east side of the roadway, and struck a fence post. The vehicle suffered minor damages. No injuries were reported. TRAFFIC CRASH Lorrie Bach, of Clarksburg reports that she was north bound on Good Hope-New Holland Rd. when she lost control of her vehicle, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck the ditch and a utility pole. Bach was cited for Failure to Control TRAFFIC CRASH Lawrence Cercek, of Chillicothe, was west bound on US 35 at the 22 mp, when he lost control of the vehicle on the snow covered roadway traveling into the median where he struck a guardrail. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. TRAFFIC CRASH Gregory Wright, Chillicothe was west bound on US 35 at the 18 mp, when he lost control of the semi-tractor trailer rig he was driving on the snow covered roadway. The truck slid into the median where it jack-knifed and ruptured the fuel tank. The truck had to be towed from the scene. The driver was cited for failure to control.

8 TRAFFIC CRASH: Phillip Swanson of Windham, Ohio was traveling west on U.S 35 and lost control of his vehicle on inclement roadway. Swanson traveled off the left side of the roadway coming to rest in the median. No injuries reported. Vehicle sustained moderate damage in the crash. TRAFFIC CRASH: Brian Fusco of Cincinnati, Ohio was traveling south in Interstate 71 and lost control of his vehicle on inclement roadway. Fusco traveled off the left side of the roadway into the median striking a guardrail overturning. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. TRAFFIC CRASH: Samuel Adorno of Lorain, Ohio was traveling north on Interstate 71. Adorno proceeded to pass another motor vehicle losing control due to snow on the roadway causing Adorno s vehicle to strike a parked motor parked along the shoulder of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles sustained minor damage in the crash. TRAFFIC CRASH: Jamie Butler of Hillsboro, Ohio was traveling north on S.R 62 and lost control of her vehicle on inclement roadway. Butler traveled off the right side of the roadway striking the ditch coming to rest in a field. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained minor damage in the crash. TRAFFIC CRASH: Justin Creed of Sabina, Ohio was traveling north on Snowhill road and lost control of his vehicle on inclement roadway. Creed traveled off the right side of the roadway striking several mail boxes. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained minor damage in the crash. DISORDERLY CONDUCT / INDUCING PANIC: Sheriff s Deputies responded to a verbal altercation on Rowe Ging road. Reports indicate one adult male was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Inducing Panic. TRAFFIC CRASH: Sheriff s Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident that occurred on SR 41 South in Union Township. Reports indicate that Chelsea Orr of Greenfield, Ohio was traveling southbound on SR 41 when a Pickup operated by Donald Hawk of Washington CH, Ohio backed out of a private driveway and was struck by Orr s vehicle. No injuries were reported. Hawk was cited for Improper Backing. TRAFFIC CRASH: Sheriff s Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident that occurred on US 62 near the intersection of Dickey road. Reports indicate that Bert Alsept of Washington CH, Ohio was traveling southbound on US 62 when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled left of center and struck a vehicle operated by Teresa Seyfang of Leesburg, Ohio who was traveling northbound on US 62. Seyfang and a female passenger were transported to Fayette County Memorial Hospital by a privately owned vehicle for treatment of their injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Alsept was cited for Failure to Control. TRAFFIC CRASH: Sheriff s Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident that occurred on US 62 near the 23-mile post. Reports indicate that Lisa Francis of Mt. Sterling, Ohio was traveling southbound on US 62 when she lost control of her vehicle and traveled left of center and struck a vehicle operated by Jerry Robinette of Greenfield, Ohio who was traveling northbound on US 62. After being struck the Robinette vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway into the ditch. Francis was transported to Fayette County Memorial Hospital by EMS for treatment of her injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Francis was cited for Failure to Control. TRAFFIC CRASH: Sheriff s Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident that occurred on IR 71 northbound at the 71.5-mile post. Reports indicate that Louise Yancy of Kent, Ohio was traveling northbound on IR 71 when she lost control of her vehicle and traveled off the left side of the roadway

Shaw failed to observe a vehicle operated by Carla Berry turning left onto Leslie Trace striking the rear of the Berry s vehicle. No injuries were reported. Shaw was cited for assured Clear Distance Ahead. BREAKING & ENTERING / THEFT / CRIMINAL DAMAGING Ruth Worrell, Washington CH, reports that over the last 3 weeks, person(s) unknown had forcibly entered her unoccupied property on SR 41, causing damage and removing property. DOMESTIC DISPUTE Neighbors reported a domestic incident on Colonial Drive in Jeffersonville. Upon making contact with the parties, both advised only a verbal argument and that there was no threats or physical altercation. ASSAULT Deputies responded to the Roller Haven on a report of an assault in the parking lot. Upon arrival Deputies met with a female who stated she had been struck by her former boyfriend. The male departed prior to the deputy s arrival SEARCH WARRANT/DRUG ARRESTS: The Fayette County Sheriff s Office arrested three individuals on Thursday evening following the execution of two search warrants stemming from the alleged trafficking of heroin. Search warrants were executed simultaneously at 7:41 p.m. at two separate rooms of the City Motel located at 1524 Washington Avenue in Washington Court House. According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, members of the Sheriff s Tactically Armed Response (S.T.A.R.) team executed the search warrants as part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of heroin throughout the county. The search warrant executed at Room #14 led to the arrest of Sonya K. Jackson, Age 35 of Washington Court House and the discovery of a substance presumptively testing positive for heroin, drug paraphernalia items, and U.S. currency. As members of the S.T.A.R. team accessed the room, Jackson reportedly ran to the restroom area, opened a bathroom window and began discarding articles of evidence to the outside before being taken into custody. A deputy was injured during the entry into Room #14, receiving a dog bite to the right leg from the animal inside the room. The deputy was treated at the scene by Fayette County E.M.S. and later transported to the Fayette County Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released. The dog biting the deputy and a second dog inside the room were unharmed and released to the Fayette County Dog Warden at the scene for confinement. Fayette County Children s Services also responded to the scene after deputies discovered a 15 year-old

11 juvenile family member of Jackson inside the room. Jackson was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail where she was incarcerated, charged with Trafficking in Drugs and Tampering with Evidence. The search warrant executed at Room #15 led to the arrest of Frandral L. Kelley, Age 42 of Columbus, Ohio and Derial R. Daniels, Age 57 of Toledo, Ohio. Both were taken into custody without incident. A substance presumptively testing positive for heroin, items of drug paraphernalia, U.S. currency, and a handgun were discovered during the search. Kelley and Daniels were transported to the Fayette County Jail where they were incarcerated, both charged with Trafficking in Drugs and Possession of a Weapon under Disability. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible as the investigation progresses, said Stanforth. Jackson, Kelley, and Daniels are all scheduled to appear before the Washington Court House Municipal Court on Monday, March 3, 2014 for arraignment. OBSTRUCTING OFFICIAL BUSINESS Deputies observed a traffic violation on E. Market St, and upon initiating a stop of the vehicle the driver provided false identification. After confirming the drivers correct identity was Lucian P. Moore, he was arrested and charged with the above offense RECOVERED VEHICLE, DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION; POSSESSION OF DRUG ABUSE INSTRUMENTS: While on patrol a Sheriff s deputy located a vehicle that had been reported taken without consent and made a traffic stop on the vehicle at the Jamison Rd. trailer park. During the traffic stop it was discovered the operator of the vehicle was driving without a valid license, and possessed drug abuse instruments. Joey L. Morris of Washington CH, Ohio was charged in the offense(s) SEARCH WARRANT/DRUG SEIZURE: A 26 year-old Washington Court House man was taken into custody by sheriff s deputies on Sunday evening following the execution of a search warrant at his residence, located at 1110 Campbell Street on the city s north side. According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, he and his deputies executed the search warrant approximately 7:00 p.m. following a covert drug investigation into the trafficking of heroin. Shane Cooper, age 26 of Washington Court House was arrested. At the time the search warrant was executed, Cooper was located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident, said Stanforth. Shortly after deputies entered the home, Cooper began experiencing some medical issues and was transported under guard of a deputy to the Fayette County Memorial Hospital by Fayette County E.M.S. Sheriff s detectives searched the home seizing items of evidence, including a substance presumptively tested and found to be heroin, drug paraphernalia items, and a vehicle registered to Cooper, which detectives intend to file a seizure action against. Deputies cleared the location of the search warrant approximately 8:30 p.m. Cooper is being held on charges of Trafficking in Heroin, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marihuana. Upon release from the hospital, Cooper will be incarcerated in the Fayette County Jail in lieu of bond and is expected to appear before the Washington Court House Municipal Court for arraignment on Monday, February 24,

12 WANTED PERSON / DRUG PARAPHENALIA / POSSESSION OF DRUGS A Deputy checked a suspicious person on the lot of the KFC on SR 435. A warrant check of the subject, Norman Roulet, East Cleveland, Ohio, found that there was an active warrant for him out of Cuyahoga County. Roulet was arrested and a subsequent search of the subject located a quantity of marijuana and paraphernalia. Roulett was additionally charged and transported to the Fayette Co. Jail. CRIMINAL TRESSPASS Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person attempting to enter a vacant property on SR 238. Charles Wilson, Washington CH, was located on the property and was subsequently arrested on this charge. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Anthony Blackburn, Washington CH reported that he was assaulted by his father, Charles Blackburn, also of Washington CH. The victim had obvious injuries to his face and head, that required treatment at the ER. The suspect was located and subsequently arrested on the above charge THEFT Eddie Fitch, Bloomingburg reports that upon checking a gravesite owned by the reportee he found that concrete urn had been removed. TRAFFIC CRASH Jeffery E. Litteral, Washington CH reports that he was east bound on SR 38 when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway the driver over corrected, crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the roadway into the ditch. The vehicle then overturned in the ditch and struck a DP&L utility pole. The driver was cited for failure to control THEFT Wilber Young, Greenfield reports that upon checking a rental property on Woodsview Dr. after the tenants had moved out he found that a refrigerator was missing. THEFT: Donald E. Landrum of Washington CH, Ohio reported sometime during the day persons unknown removed several items from his porch. THEFT, CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Donald J. Christman of Washington CH, Ohio reported his vehicle became disabled in the area of S R 41 north and Hines Rd., and the vehicle was left unattended. Christman reported upon returning to the vehicle for repairs he observed an unknown person driving away with some of his belongings. TRAFFIC CRASH: Jeremy Perez of Sabina, Ohio was traveling north on S.R 41. While attempting to make a turnaround Perez s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway into the ditch. No injuries were reported. TRAFFIC CRASH: Jacob Ault of Jeffersonville, Ohio was traveling south on Jonesboro Rd and lost control of his vehicle. Ault s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained moderate damage in the crash and was towed from the scene.

Upon arrival deputies identified the parties involved in the incident and determined that no assault or threats of violence had occurred. THEFT: Isidro Gomez reported that while shopping at the Tanger Outlets Jeffersonville, Ohio person(s) unknown removed his cell phone from a store shelf where he had placed it. The incident is under investigation. BURLARY/THEFT: Teresa Chaffin of Jeffersonville, Ohio reports person(s) unknown entered her residence and removed property from inside the home. TRAFFIC CRASH: Brian Fouts of Indianapolis, Indiana was traveling west on US 35. Fouts lost control of his vehicle. Fouts traveled off the right side of the roadway into the ditch overturning striking a cement abutment. No injuries were reported. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. TRAFFIC CRASH: Marni Rygalski of Strongsville, Ohio was traveling north on Interstate 71 and lost control of her vehicle. Rygalski traveled off the left side of the roadway into the median overturning. Rygalki and occupants of the vehicle were transported by EMS for treatment of minor injuries. Rygalki was cited for Failure to Control TRAFFIC CRASH: Erica Ragland of New Holland, Ohio was traveling north on Old Springfield Rd and lost control of her vehicle. TRAFFIC CRASH: Alexandra Janasov of Washington CH, Ohio was traveling north on S.R 62 and lost control of her vehicle. 14 THEFT: Daniel Palko of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania reported person(s) unknown removed property from him while at the Flying J truck stop TRAFFIC CRASH: Edward Lee of Maysville, Kentucky was traveling north on U.S. 62. Lee Failed to maintain control of his vehicle while negotiating a left curve. Lee traveled left of center striking a vehicle in the southbound lane operated by Michelle Myers. No injuries were reported. Lee was cited for Failure to Control. TRAFFIC CRASH: Scott Detty of Jeffersonville, Ohio was traveling north on State St. Detty lost control of his vehicle on inclement roadway while making a right turn onto Carr Rd. Detty s vehicle traveled left of center striking a vehicle operated by Scott Noah stopped at the traffic signal on Carr Rd. No injuries were reported. Detty was cited for Marked Lanes. TRAFFIC CRASH: Cynthia Bennett of Washington CH, Ohio was traveling north on U.S. 62. Bennett attempted to pass another vehicle losing control of her vehicle on inclement roadways. Bennett traveled off the right side of the roadway into a ditch overturning. No injuries were reported. Bennett was cited for Failure to Control. TRAFFIC CRASH: Amanda Williams of Greenfield, Ohio was traveling south on S.R 238 initiating a right turn onto U.S. 62. Williams lost control of her vehicle on inclement roadways traveling across the centerline of U.S. 62 striking a vehicle operated by Melinda Francis. No injuries were reported TRAFFIC CRASH: Muse Farah Adde of Columbus, Ohio was traveling north on Interstate 71 near S.R. 41 and struck an object in the roadway causing damage to his vehicle. No injuries were reported. TRAFFIC CRASH-HITSKIP: The driver of an unknown vehicle was traveling westbound on W. Walnut Street in the Village of Jeffersonville and, during a backing maneuver struck a decorative light pole and left the scene without reporting the crash. RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: A sheriff s deputy checked a vehicle on the parking lot of Southern State Community College. Staff members reported that the vehicle had been parked on the lot for a couple of days with no activity in or around the vehicle. Upon checking, the deputy discovered the vehicle, a 1995 GMC Sierra pickup truck, had been reported stolen from the State of Kentucky approximately two weeks earlier. The vehicle was impounded and the investigation continues THEFT: Aimee L. Stewart of Washington Court House reported that her prescription medication was taken from her residence. The incident is under investigation.

15 TRAFFIC CRASH: John Boltenhouse of Washington CH was traveling southbound on US Route 62 North near Madison Road when he failed to maintain an assured clear distance ahead striking a vehicle in the rear operated by Daniel R. Wells of Washington C.H., Ohio. Wells was stopped for a school bus at the time of the crash. Minor damage and no reported injuries TRAFFIC CRASH: Julia Camp of Columbus Ohio was driving southbound on I-71 at the 70mm when she failed to stay within the marked lane. Camp s vehicle drifted toward the center lane into the path of a tractor-trailer operated by Cory McKittrick of Milan, Indiana. Camp s vehicle struck the right front bumper of the tractor trailer and spun out in the roadway, coming to rest in the median. Minor damage to both vehicles. Camp was cited for failure to stay in marked lanes. THEFT: An employee of Fossil at the Tanger Outlet Mall, Jeffersonville reported sometime in the past 24 hours person(s) unknown removed merchandise without making payment. FIRE: An early morning house fire has displaced a New Martinsburg family. The structure fire was reported early Tuesday morning at 12:59 a.m. at the home of Bryan VanDyke located at Washington-New Martinsburg Road. According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, fire personnel from the Wayne Township, Concord-Green Township, and Washington Fire Departments all responded to the fire scene. Fayette County fire departments were assisted by members of the Paint Creek Township Fire Department in Highland County. Firefighters called the scene under control at 5:45 a.m. and all firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 9:00 a.m. The home was heavily damaged and Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to the VanDyke family. No injuries were reported in the fire. The cause of the fire is believed to have originated in the area of a portable heating device that was in use inside the home according to Wayne Township Fire Chief Chris Wysong TRAFFIC CRASH: Don Melvin of Washington Court House was operating a 2008 Ford truck northbound on U.S. Route 62 SW near Barger Road and struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported in the crash and the vehicle sustained minor damage. DOMESTIC DISPUTE: Sheriff s deputies responded to a domestic incident in the 4000 block of S.R. 207 in the Village of Pancoastburg. Upon arrival, deputies identified the parties involved in the dispute and determined that no threats or violence had occurred TRAFFIC CRASH: Brittany S. McMahon of New Holland, Ohio was operating a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue northbound in the 8000 block of S.R. #207NE and failed to negotiate a curve, losing control of her vehicle.
