5 WRCA Meeting Minutes Meeting February 12, 2008 The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. In attendance were President Jim Prentice, Vice President Bob Foladare, Treasurer Ed Goetz, Board Members John Cowden and John Radens. Also attending Rick and Debby VonLangen, Tom Halter, Jane Sieman, Cam Hill and Neil Cuomo. The board was one member short of a quorum, so business was discussed, but not voted upon. Secretaries Minutes The minutes were tabled until the next meeting. Treasurer s Report Ed Goetz presented the month s report showing that we are on firm financial grounds. Ed reported income from ads in both the newsletter and directory for January. President s Report Jim received correspondence from the attorneys for Home Depot. They stated that they would be willing to move the discount day from the second to the third Tuesday of the month. However, there were stipulations regarding this change and are as follows: *Limit discount to $200 per month per family. *Must have newsletter with name and address and a picture ID when using. *Only Niagara Falls Blvd. Location. *In stock merchandise only. *Purchase must be for homeowner use only. *Use by non-members will result in termination of discount. *They retain the right to terminate agreement at any time. The WRCA Board discussed this and decided to continue negotiations through Neil Cuomo for a better agreement. Membership Report Kerri was ill, so membership report was provided by Bob Foladare. We have 458 renewals so far this year and appear to be ahead of last year s pace. This was confirmed by Ed Goetz. Old Business Jim Prentice reports that new bases have been purchased from Laux to make improvements to the softball fields and that the only thing left to do is set a date for the refurbishing. Also, Pat Land has contacted Lakeside Sod for purchasing clay. It appears that this project will come in under budget. The Block Rep Breakfast was extremely well attended with 65 people. There was some discussion as to whether this was due to Supervisor Mohan speaking or because we served a hot breakfast this time. All information was passed out by Kerri Jasen, so expect to hear from your rep regarding membership renewal in the very near future. Jim reports that the new M.J. Peterson proposal was tabled by the planning board while they wait for information on traffic studies and sewage capacity studies. Bob Foladare will stay in touch with the town for future developments with this situation. The directory lists the names, addresses and telephone numbers of more than 1,200 families who live in the Willow Ridge area. Residents rely on it to contact neighbors and committees and to locate local goods and services. The directory is especially useful to those who are just moving into the area. There is also a public service directory located in the front of the directory. If anyone has a change over the coming year (such as a birth of a child) please do not hesitate to contact your block rep, membership coordinator, Kerri Jasen, or myself at I like to keep all this information as current as possible throughout the year. I wish to THANK all the advertisers for supporting our Association. A great many of them generously contributed coupons in a special tear out section of the directory. I hope the directory will continue to be a useful reference book and that the contents are as accurate as possible. Sincerely, Jane Sieman, Editor, 2008 Willow Ridge Directory Page 7
