HIKERS R US WEDNESDAY HIKES After the winter months it s great to get on the trails and enjoy all those little critters and plants that have been previously hiding under the snow. However, the trails can have lots of other surprises in spring, too, (mud, washouts etc) so please bring proper footwear. Likely icers and hiking sticks will still be required. Also remember to bring a lunch and water, sunscreen and soon bugspray. Please be sure to notify the hike leader if you plan to attend as sometimes weather or other circumstances mean changes to the meeting spot etc. For a late change in the hike due to inclement weather you will be notified by 7:10 am the morning of the hike so check your before you leave home. We will carpool to the parking lot by the rail trail at the end of Forbes Street. Directions are as follows: Go West on 401 and take Exit 282 (Hespeler Rd S/Reg Road 24S) toward Brantford. Turn left onto Hespeler Road (24) and continue on 24 until the fork at Water St.N. Follow Water St. N. Continue onto Brantford Hwy to Reg.Road 14 (River Rd).

Then we will drive to the Toyota Plant at 1055 Fountain Street N. in Cambridge for our guided noon hour tour. Strict safety rules apply on this tour including only natural fibre clothing (wool, cotton, silk, linen). not synthetics. Car pool to Erindale Park on the north side of Highway 5 (Dundas St.), just east of Mississauga Rd. in Mississauga. We will move some cars to the beginning of the Culham trail at the north end. Local hikers can meet us at 9:15 am. in the first parking lot at Erindale Park. No dogs. Bring snack/lunch/bugspray/water. We will carpool to Guelph taking Brock Rd/Gordon Street to Wellington (approximately 11.5 k's or about 20 minutes from 401). The parking area is south of Wellington St., on the east side of Gordon Street, adjacent to the Boathouse and Animal hospital. For hikers coming directly to Guelph, we will begin at 9:15 am. Meet at the New City Park parking lot on Kerns Rd., south of Dundas St. (Hwy. #5) Peter McSweeney will lead us on an interesting tree hike of this area. Mod Wed. May16 - Kilbride Flower Hike - 10 km. Meet at the parking lot at the rear of Kilbride Public School. Emilie Prue will lead us on another interesting wildflower hike. Mod Wed. May 23 - Webster s Fall - 10 km. Meet at the Optimists Parking lot in Greensville. We will hike out to the Peak and then on to the Falls. Mod Wed. May 30 - Harbour and History - 10 km. Meet at St David s Prestbyterian Church, 474 Wenworth St. North in Hamilton. 7 Come out and join us to view the signs of spring up close and personal as we hike. Trails may still be icy or possibly very muddy so proper boots and who knows icers, bugspray, sunscreen? All hikes are at a moderate pace with the likelihood of hills and rocky footing. Bring a drink, snacks and LUNCH. No dogs, please. In the event of inclement weather please call the hike leader. Some long, but gentle hills. Bring lunch. If coming from the west, take the QEW to the Dorval exit. Go north to Upper Middle Road. Turn right (east) and go to

At the time I wrote this the Go Train schedule is/was :**Coming by GO Train, departs 08:38 arriving Toronto Union From Union go south on Bay St. across Queens Quay to Ferry Docks meeting the hike leader at the ferry docks. We will depart on first available ferry to Hanlons Point.** Bring water, snacks and lunch will be optional as there are 3 4 restaurants on the islands although some may not be open. Mod. 1.
