Brush up on Christmas Lore, alert your groom and inform your 4 legged friend that the Games are around the corner... Saturday December 15 on the Winthrop Polo field, starting at 11:00 (trailer parking at the Green Boundary Club Field)Costumes encouraged for animals, drivers, grooms spectators. Awards for the best Costumes, best cones and overall best at whatever is planned. Not driving, but want to be in the spirit of things, please volunteer to help. Call Peggy Dils you will have fun... After the Games: Lunch/brunch will be served at the Clark Barn owned by Sandie and Don Nicolaisen Next to Winthrop field on Mead Ave. All club members and guests including those who are, and those who are not participating in the Christmas Games are invited. Come mingle directly after the games, or take your horse home and come back... brunch/lunch will be available from 12:15 to 1:15. Cost per person will be $5.00 and will be donated to needy children for Christmas... Please respond to Peggy Dils no later than WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 12 th.we want to be sure we have enough food so we need to hear from you. Cookie Swap bring a dozen or more of your favorite homemade cookies. We will sample some and swap with those who have brought cookies. We have a lot of great cooks so please join in... Treasurer Report October 2018 The beginning checking account balance for October was $14, Income for the month was $ Expenses were $ Ending checking balance for Oct. was 17, During October there were 8 memberships paid for online thru Square. The total for these memberships was $ The total processing fees for the memberships was $ Twenty dollars of this was covered by the service fee the club charged the renewing members. The cost to the club was. $6.25. Respectively submitted, Karen Marlin A heartfelt thanks to everyone in the Aiken Driving Club for participating in this year s Katydid CDE. Without your help, we never could have pulled off a show that competitors raved about. Whether you were a sponsor, advertiser, volunteer, competitor or spectator, your efforts were noticed. I have received numerous thank you cards from competitors praising the efforts of the Katydid team. WE put on an awesome show. From the neighbors who picked up the garbage along the roadsides, volunteers who manned competition positions and to the parking attendants who helped manage the parking area I say Thank you. It is these small contributions that may seem inconsequential that help make the difference. Our volunteer coordinators; Ray Mansur, Dottie Paul, Barb Mettle, Joyce Egge and Carl Zimmerman did an amazing job of filling positions, and competition days seemed to run seamlessly. Set-up and tear-down was awesome. And a big hats off to everyone who participated in our inaugural Nations (States) Night. What a success! WE should all be proud of what we achieved. RSVP Sam Radford Hopelands Gardens and Rye Patch Reception Center Phone: (803) ADC Memorial Drive Sunday November 11 started a little chilly and breezy but that didn t stop the 30 plus carriage drivers and their passengers from coming to Katydid Farm for the Memorial Drive sponsored by the Aiken Driving Club. At the end of the drive, everyone raved about the trails that wound through the Katydid Farm land for the short drive and included a stretch along Cedar Branch and Bairwood for the longer drive. After all the equines were taken care of all, including some people who just came for lunch, enjoyed a pot luck lunch. Time was taken to remember those drivers, grooms/navigators and volunteers who are no longer with us but to whom we owe a debt of gratitude for being part of our club. Toys and money collected at the drive will be given to Toys for Tots.
