the N O V E M B E R EL PAJARO PRESS Canoa Seca Estates II Newsletter CSE II Website: PRESIDENT S CORNER Welcome back winter residents. C & D Landscaping is beginning the post monsoon cleaning. Please do your part and be sure your trees and vegetation are in compliance. Be sure your in-yard trees are not over parapet height. One more issue that has become a problem is barking dogs. Please be considerate and be aware of your dog(s) being left outside and barking. This time of year it s nice to be able to keep windows and doors open and dogs can be disruptive. We had a good turn out for the October Board Meeting. Let s keep it up! Welcome to all our new residents. CSE II is in good shape and a great place to call home. Hope to see you at the December 7 th Wine & Cheese party. Regards, Carl Schuster Meeting Schedule Date: December 4, 2015 Location: 2:00 PM 4:00 PM West Center Room 2 Meetings are open to all CSE II Members Save the Date! December 7, 2015 Desert Hills Wine & Cheese Party Flyers will be delivered in November. February 2, 2016 Valentine s Potluck

ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE Great looking common area and yards--- With the fabulous addition of rock in our common area and the improvement it has made in the appearance of our neighborhood, we homeowners are challenged to take extra special care to keep our own yards weed free, shrubs neatly trimmed, and trees topped to at least the top of the roof parapet. Winter residents will soon be returning and many landscapers have already been hard at work tending to this necessary task. Let s get trimming! Air Conditioning & Heating Units--- The developer painted the original heating and air conditioning units so they didn t attract the attention of uphill neighbors. If you have replaced your original unit, you can make the HVAC unit invisible by painting it the tan color so prevalent in our desert landscape. Because they are a huge part of the view for your neighbor on the street above you, please make sure your green or silver unit is painted tan. Satellite dishes and solar units--- Our flat roofs, with short walls extending above the roof can hide most satellite dishes and solar units. If you acquire these devices, please ask your installer to put them in an unobtrusive spot as possible. The Architecture Committee is sad to lose John Brink as a committee member. However, we are happy to welcome Sandy Hill on Tejedor to the committee! Thanks everyone, for your cooperation and... Please, continue to contact the Architectural Committee when you plan any changes to the exterior of your house. 2

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED WASTE & RECYCLING Styrofoam or polystyrene products are to be put into the regular trash not the Recycle bin. Did you know that Styrofoam also called polystyrene comes in many forms? This includes packing peanuts and packaging blocks, egg cartons, plates, cups and food containers. Ways to keep Styrofoam out of the recycle bin: Recycle and reuse packing peanuts. Avoid Styrofoam by opting for glass or not buying Styrofoam products. Dispose of Styrofoam in your trash bin and not in a Recycle bin. 3

WELCOME OUR NEW NEIGHBORS Patricia & Bruce Tinney became acquainted with CSE II during the years they wintered in their Cortina Villas home. Walking their Scottie Terrier, Odie, they met many of CSE II s friendly residents. Retired, from owning a staffing business in Denver, they moved to 3813 Garzota late last spring and almost immediately returned to Denver for the summer. Arriving back in Green Valley a few weeks ago, with the moving van following close behind, they announced they had decided to be full time residents! They look forward to settling into their new retiree lifestyle, and plan to take full advantage of all that Green Valley offers including golf. Jane & Bill Barkley, with their Blue Healer Bravo, just moved into their new home at 3891 Urraca. Some Garzota neighbors will remember them when they rented a home for several summers to escape the summer humidity in North Carolina. Both are retired Bill was an Environmental Engineer with Weyerhaeuser Company; Jane was an Early Childhood Specialist in education. They moved from New Bern, NC and are year-round residents. Bill is an ardent Duplicate Bridge player, and would rather be at the bridge table than unpacking boxes. Jane is an avid reader and is a member of the Page Turners at the Green Valley Library. They look forward to being active members at Saint Francis-inthe-Valley Episcopal Church. Sue & Alex Hasenclever moved from La Paz, Mexico to 3871 Trogon, their new summer home. They have been part of a boating community in Mexico for the past ten years, living year-round on their sailboat. Still avid boaters, but now with a powerboat, they plan to winter on their boat in Mexico. Alex was born and raised in Brazil. At the age of 16 he moved to Germany with his parents, then moved to the United States in His work has been in sales, worldwide. Sue was born in Rhode Island and grew up an Eastern girl. As an adult she moved to Los Angeles and became part of the entertainment industry. For a great story, ask her about Joan Collins and Dynasty. Sue and Alex s path crossed in LA. 4

WELCOME COMMITTEE It s been a busy year for the Welcome Committee. Nine homes have changed owners in the first ten months of Six more are on the market. So there may be more new owners before the calendar turns over to You have met Rich & Frauke Rosenthal 3841 Trogon, Dana & Leslie Berry 3776 Reyecuelo, Bruce & Patricia Tinney 3813 Garzota, Bill & Jane Barkley 3891 Urraca and Alex & Sue Hasenclever 3871 Trogon, through the New Neighbor articles. As you all know, moving is a busy time, so we still have to catch up with and introduce you to: Bob Swendrzyski & Marie LeRoy 3871 Urraca, Bob Dantini & Debbie Merced 3911 Trogon, Robert Evans & Denise Moser 3772 Reyecuelo and Mike & Candace Small 3766 Reyecuelo. Watch for these introductions in the next issue of the El Pajaro Press. The Welcome Committee appreciates our dog-walkers; they are the greatest at welcoming new residents! Join them in welcoming our new neighbors by ringing their doorbell, introducing yourself, and welcoming them to the neighborhood. Carol Copeland - Welcome Committee Chair The Social Committee is pleased to announce that we will hold our fifth annual Wine and Cheese Party on Monday, December 7 th. The event will start at 4:30pm and be held at Desert Hills Social Center. Reservation flyers will be distributed by November 20 th by Social Committee members. This year we will be serving red and white wines, cheese, crackers, sausage, grapes and soft drinks. Coffee will also be available. The special feature of this particular party is live entertainment. In past years we have enjoyed performances by a cowboy speaker, magician, folk singer, and pianist. For this year s event we will hear the Mariachi Corazon de Tucson, a talented youth band ages They have delighted other Green Valley groups and are sure to be a hit with CSE II! Another feature of this evening will be the annual collection of new toys or donation of money for Toys for Tots. We have been active in participating in this wonderful charity sponsored by the Marine Corps League for over ten years as a part of our fall social activity. We hope to see you there! Karen Lamb & Lucy Redding SOCIAL COMMITTEE **NOTE** Do you have your CSE II name tag put away in a drawer somewhere? If so, please return it to Lucy Redding 1911 Picamaderos. 5

Construction of multi-use lanes in Green Valley to begin next week Project will add room for bicycles to travel along Esperanza Boulevard The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin work next week on a project to construct multi-use lanes on Esperanza Boulevard between the intersections with Abrego and La Cañada drives in Green Valley. 11 Green Valley Roads Pima County Administrator C. H. Huckelberry announced at the Green Valley Council s ROADS TOWN HALL, held on October 14, the roads in Green Valley that are included in Proposition #425 the Roads and Highway Improvements Bond. Since the Town Hall, Pima County Officials have assured the Council that these are the roads in the Bond Package: Camino del Sol Abrego Drive Continental Road Camino Casa Verde La Canada Camino del Sol Camino Encanto Calle Tres Continental / Nogales Hwy Duval Mine Road Placita De La Cotonia Circulo de las Lomas Camino del Portillo Desert Bell Abrego Drive Casa de las Tiendas From Calle de la Adelfa to Via Del Pulpo From Continental Road to Santa Rebecca From Frontage Ramp to Portrerro From La Canada to West End From Mission Twin Buttes to Continental Road From Continental Road to Mission Twin Buttes From Camino del Sol to Frontage Road From Via Cielo Azul to Frontage Road From Abrego to Sahuarita Town Limits From Sahuarita Town Limits to Continental Road From Camina del Sol to I-19 Frontage Road From Camino del Sol to Desert Ridge From Esperanza to Continental Road From Esperanza to Mountain Stone From Santa Rebecca to Country Club Entry From La Canada to End of Roadway The voters will tell us, on November 3 rd, if these road improvements will happen. The questions submitted by those who attended the ROADS TOWN HALL cover a wide variety of subjects related to roads in Green Valley. Maintenance and repair of County Roads within Homeowner Associations heads the list. Many questions look to the future of roads in Green Valley. All questions require thoughtful consideration before answers can be given, or plans announced. The Green Valley Council Executive Board has appointed a special Roads Task Force chaired by Dick Roberts, a Past President of the Council, to consider these questions. Dick has asked Chet Davis and Sandra Stone to serve on the Task Force. He will be asking several HOA Presidents, including those who have County Roads within their HOA, to serve on the Task Force. The charge is to address every question raised, and develop a comprehensive road plan to guide the Council in the future. The Task Force reports to the Executive Board, and will present their recommendations to the Board of Representatives. When adopted, the Green Valley Road Plan will be presented to Pima County. 11
