PRESIDENT S MESSAGE How lucky we are to have such a group of volunteers putting on Dinners like our Christmas Party, Robbie Burns Dinner and the Valentines Dinner. Congratulations to all. I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll do for the Irish Shindig on March 16th. Be there for a fun time. On Wednesday, February 19th the men prepared and served the Annual Ladies Luncheon. So far the men seem to have done a satisfactory job of saying Thank You to the Ladies Auxiliary for all the help they give us throughout the year. Thanks again Ladies, it was our pleasure to serve you. As many of you know, every Wednesday night we have a group of our members playing music and singing to a very dedicated crowd of followers, many of whom have GENERAL MEETING NOTICE Harvey Fry become members. The musicians call themselves Just Us Jamming and are certainly quite good entertainers who play for seniors homes and similar seniors organizations throughout the Region. We thank them and they deserve your support. Here is an announcement that I believe will be welcomed by many. Every Tuesday night is Euchre Night and will continue to be so. However, starting in September we are going to introduce "Bid Euchre" every Monday afternoon. This will be led by members who will teach this very fast-growing version of the old standby of euchre. If euchre is a favourite of yours and you want to learn or if you'd rather play in the day rather than at night, come on out and try this. There is no reason you can't play both Monday afternoons and Tuesday nights also. Keep your eyes open for further details. Meanwhile, we'll see you at the Wing. Special monthly meeting date will be held Thursday, March 6 th, Remember, new hours are : Meet & Greet 5 pm, Dinner at 6 pm Meeting at 7:15 pm. Please reserve dinner tickets by Tuesday, March 4 th latest (sooner is better).

2 Page 2 PADRE S CORNER I came across this interesting story on the Internet. It is about Gerry Thomas who worked for Swanson TV Dinners. He was the one who invented the compartmentalized tray. Did you ever have children, or grandchildren, who didn't like to have their food touching on their plate? Well, there must have been a lot of people who felt this way because his new invention LAST POST Regular Features was a hit and he made Swanson a lot of money, especially since they sold thousands of them to the airline companies. The person who was writing this informative article was a minister who was saying that often we can see our faith in the same way. That is, we don't want it touching the rest of our lives. We want to keep it separate and in its own little compartment. We want to have it but we don't want it to interfere The Wing Ding March/2014 Dr. Bruce Sweet with any of our other interests and activities. So, perhaps the flat dinner plate, or even a bowl, would better symbolize our life. With the plate or the bowl the different parts of our life, including our faith, could touch and mix. Perhaps then we could enjoy the full flavour and nourishment of all that our existence offers. Let me know what you think. Sandra Elizabeth "Sandi" Reist, an Associate Member at the Wing 404 for the past 3 years, passed away suddenly at home on Friday February 14, 2014 at the age of 49. Sandi will be fondly remembered by her friends at the Wing 404 and her longtime friend Mike Turos. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we shall remember her. The Wing Ding March/2014 LADIES AUXILIARY Hi Ladies! Here I am filling in for our President who is hopefully enjoying a well deserved holiday in Panama City.

I would like to give a BIG thank you to Harvey and all his Merry Men, what a super job for the Ladies Luncheon, well done.

I had many favourable comments on the entertainment. Many thanks to Bob, Keith, Ron and Ernie as it a good finish to a wonderful afternoon. Now to get to the business of our Card Party on April 16th.

3 The Wing Ding March/2014 LADIES AUXILIARY Hi Ladies! Here I am filling in for our President who is hopefully enjoying a well deserved holiday in Panama City. This has surely been a winter to remember or perhaps try to forget, with all the snow and cold temperatures. However, on the brighter side, hopefully spring is not too far away. I would like to give a BIG thank you to Harvey and all his Merry Men, what a super job for the Ladies Luncheon, well done.the tables looked lovely with the beautiful centre pieces donated by Betsy, a big thank you. Betsy Regular Features is one of our new members of the Ladies Auxiliary and what an asset. I had many favourable comments on the entertainment. Many thanks to Bob, Keith, Ron and Ernie as it a good finish to a wonderful afternoon. Now to get to the business of our Card Party on April 16th. We are still going to have cash prizes or gift certificates of your choice. This seems to be well liked and saves the Ladies some shopping. Our Friday lunches are going well and still bring in a good revenue.
